Ashley Okland was 27 years old when she was murdered. She was a real estate agent and had been showing a model townhouse when she was shot twice and left to die by her assailant. Someone heard a commotion inside 558 Stone Creek Court. When they went inside to investigate, Ashley was lying on the floor. Medics rushed her to the hospital where she later died. After nearly 15 years of investigating, there has finally been a major break in this case.

Ashley Flynn, 37, was found dead in the early morning hours of February 16th after officers received a report of a burglary and shooting at a Tipp City home. Her husband and two children were inside the home when officers arrived.

According to Miami County officials, Caleb Flynn, a former American Idol contestant, was taken into custody and charged with murder after investigators say Ashley Flynn’s body was found in their home. Prosecutors have not released details about a motive.

On May 23rd 2016, police responded to a flat where a dead young woman was found by her family. The evidence found at the scene proved this to be a homicide. Police were able to quickly recover CCTV footage from building where the victim had lived alone. The footage showed a man on his way to murder 26 year old Nikki Collingbourne. Next to Nikki's body detectives located fragments of the now infamous murder weapon.

Ohio State Medical Student, Brian Randall Shaffer disappeared without an apparent reason on April 1, 2006.  His last known whereabouts was a second-floor campus area bar where he was having drinks with friends. Near the entrance of the Ugly Tuna Saloona just before 2 a.m. Brian is seen on security footage talking briefly with two women. Brian later became separated from his friends who have stated that they assumed that Brian had left and gone home. At the time of his disappearance Brian Shaffer was 6’2” tall and approximately 160 to 165 lbs. He’s a caucasian male with brown hair and hazel eyes. Brian had a Pearl Jam tattoo on his upper right arm and he plays guitar. On February 1, 2026 someone removed 84 year old Nancy Guthrie from her home. Several ransom communications have been sent to the media and to the family. Today we go through what is known and the questions that remain. There is a $50k reward for information leading to Nancy’s location. Nancy is a caucasian female, 5’4” tall, 150 pounds, with Brown hair and Blue eyes. She was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood of Tucson, Arizona on the night of January 31, 2006. On December 30th, 2025, Dr. Spencer Tepe and his wife Monique Tepe were found dead in their Weinland Park home in Columbus, Ohio. The couple’s two young children and the family dog were found safe inside the house at the time of discovery. This is a recent case that stirred up a lot of opinions, questions, and fears. Husband and father, Aaron Spencer is currently facing trial in Lonoke County, Arkansas, for the 2024 shooting death of 67-year-old Michael Fosler.On October 8, 2024, Spencer reported his 14-year-old daughter missing. He scoured local roads and found her in Michael Fosler’s truck. Aaron Spencer forced Fosler’s vehicle off the road and fired 16 shots, 15 of which struck Fosler, killing him.

In Fayetteville, West Virginia there once stood two billboards. Billboards announcing a mystery and asking for help. These billboards were up for decades, seeking answers. Passing motorists could easily see either as they wizzed by in their automobiles. This is the information from one of them. At the top was a simple announcement - “After thirty years it is not too late to investigate” Below this text, the billboard featured pictures of each of the five missing Sodder children - Maurice, Martha, Louis, Jennie, and Betty. 

The text below the pictures read… 

On Christmas Eve 1945 our home was set afire and five of our children ages 5 through 14 kidnapped. The officials blamed defective wiring although lights were still burning after the fire started. The official report stated that the children died in the fire. However no bones were found in the residue and there was no smell of burning flesh during or after the fire. What was the motive of the law officers involved? What did they have to gain by making us suffer all of these years of injustice? Why did they force us to accept those lies?

23 year old Kada Scott was last seen in the parking lot of her workplace, The Terrace at Chestnut Hill senior living in Philadelphia late on the night of Saturday, October 4, 2025.  Kada received several texts and phone calls all from the same cellphone shortly before she was abducted. The Philadelphia Police department used, cellphone and vehicle information to lead them to multiple cars used in the abduction and subsequent crimes, Kada’s body, and a single suspect who is a repeat violent offender. There is still a lot more for police to uncover. Multiple people were involved in these crimes and right now only one suspect has been arrested and charge with murder. Kierra Coles is a United States Postal Service employee who went missing in October of 2018.  This year marks five years since her disappearance and unfortunately her case is getting cold. Few of the True Crime stories we have covered become a legend. This story has. In part that might be because the murderous monster that committed several murders in Texarkana in 1946 seemed to come out of nowhere. The hunter quickly was named the Phantom Killer. Then 10 weeks after the attacks began, the Phantom vanished. The Phantom Killer stalked and hunted young adults and teens on the streets of Texarkana always on the weekend from February 22nd through May 3rd. Texarkana became the "Town that Dreaded Sundown." The killer truly was a phantom in every sense. To this day the folks in the Texas, Arkansas border town still talk about the Phantom Killer and the Texarkana Moonlight Murders.

While law enforcement continues to connect crimes and still more victims to the infamous Long Island Serial Killer investigation we decided to take a look at one of the more recent developments in this ongoing saga. In July of 2023 a family man and architect named Rex Heuermann was arrested in connection with three murders tied to the Long Island Serial Killer case or L.I.S.K. for short. Those names and a few others were given to a series of unsolved homicides where the bodies and remains of several young women, a male, and a toddler were discovered in and around Long Island, New York. It is undetermined at this time if all of the murders were committed by the same killer or killers. Since the arrest of Heuermann, investigators have continued to make progress. Heuermann was charged with four additional murders and we now know the identities of two of the victims - Peaches/ Jane Doe #3 & Baby Doe.

After more than 33 years we finally get some closure in the infamous Yogurt Shop Murders case that has haunted Austin Texas since that sad and tragic night when four teen girls were brutally murdered. From The Austin Police Department - Austin Police have made a significant breakthrough in the 1991 I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt murder case and we have new information. Our team never gave up working this case. For almost 34 years they have worked tirelessly and remained committed to solving this case for the families of Jennifer Harbison, Sarah Harbison, Eliza Thomas, and Amy Ayers, all innocent lives taken senselessly and far too soon. We have identified a suspect in these murders through a wide range of DNA testing. The suspect is Robert Eugene Brashers, who committed suicide in 1999. This remains an open and ongoing investigation.

The Austin Yogurt Shop Murders is one of most infamous cases in Texas history. Despite the efforts of the APD it remains unsolved. In 1991 four girls were killed at the I Can’t Believe it’s Yogurt near the Northcross mall. Victims - Amy Ayers (13), Eliza Thomas (17), Jennifer Harbison (17), and Sarah Harbison (15) were shot and killed in the shop’s backroom before the business was set on fire. Police had many leads, some that turned into arrests, and two accused were charged, convicted, and released. Just this month HBO released a four part documentary titled The Yogurt Shop Murders.

Amy Bradley has been missing for over 27 years. Her family and many others suspect foul play. During the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 24th, 1998 Amy went missing from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. She was only 23 years old at the time. Amy would be 51 years old today. 

Amy is a caucasian female. She is 5 feet 7 inches tall with brown hair and green eyes. At the time of disappearance, Amy was approximately 115 pounds. Her ears were pierced multiple times and navel is pierced. Amy has the following tattoos: a Tasmanian devil spinning a basketball on the back of her shoulder, a green and blue gecko lizard around her navel, a Japanese symbol on her right ankle and a primitive Japanese sun tattooed on her lower back. The FBI have age progressed photographs available showing what Amy may have looked like at 42 years of age. 

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the recovery of Amy Lynn Bradley and information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person(s) responsible for her disappearance. If you have any information concerning the disappearance of Amy Lynn Bradley, please contact your local FBI office, or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.

There is one very critical hour of movements and events that is missing from the timeline for Jason’s case and that starts 31 minutes before midnight and goes to 31 minutes after midnight. Heaven LaShae Ross was 11 years old. On Tuesday, August 19, 2003 Heaven LaShae Ross set out walking to the morning bus stop that was only a short distance from her families’ home. She never made it. Something happened to the little girl somewhere between home and the bus stop. Her family and the community of Northport, Alabama are still searching for the person who took the little girl. On June 4, 2019, a little after 5 P.M., longtime friends Carnell “Nell” Sledge and Katherine “Kate” Brown arrived at the Rocky River Reservation which is a section of the Cleveland MetroParks.  Both met at a pull-off gravel parking lot near the Lorain Road Bridge.  Carnell and Katherine were shot and killed near a park bench shortly after arriving.  Carnell was only 40 years old and Katherine was just 33 years old.  These homicides are still unsolved.  We covered this case before (see below) and will continue to follow up as necessary until an arrest(s) is made.  Anyone with information regarding these murders is asked to call the FBI’s Cleveland field office at 216-622-6842. November 18, 1993 in a quiet suburb of St. Louis, a 4th grader disappears on her way home from school. 9 year old Angie Housman was last seen departing the school bus after arriving at her normal stop. Something happened between the bus stop and home and she vanished. There were similar cases and victims nearby at the time which complicated the investigation. Sadly, Angie was just one of many victims that are discussed throughout this story. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania June 24, 1975 - 15 year old Edna Christine Thorne went missing after visiting the horse stables near her home. That day she asked her sister is she wanted to go visit the horse with her, but she declined. Edna was last seen leaving the Tioga Street horse stables. Like so many cases in the 70s, the police initially treated Edna’s case as a runaway case but eventually concluded this to be unlikely. Authorities now suspect that Edna Thorne was abducted and likely killed. Washington state - 32 year old Travis Decker is believed to be on the run and may have made his way into Canada. This week from the Garage, we are very happy to be bringing to you major updates in three cases that we have covered. 38 year old Amber Spradlin was killed at an after work party sometime in the night of June 18, 2023. True Crime Garage covered this case in July of 2023 with episode #687. Since, arrests have been made and trial dates have been set. In 2013 Cleveland Clinic nurse Aliza Sherman was killed in downtown Cleveland in broad daylight. Back in December of 2017 we covered his “stranger than fiction” true crime story in a four part series. These were episodes #167 to #170. As we predicted Aliza Sherman’s divorce attorney Gregory Moore was arrested and charged with her murder. In March of 1992, Amy Hooper was murdered in her Lincoln Village apartment on the westside of Columbus, Ohio. In December of 2025 Bruce Daniels was arrested for this homicide in Washington state. We are keeping a close eye on this one as it inches closer to the murder trial.

Northwest Arkansas 2017 - a former Police Chief murders a man in cold blood then takes his family out for a nice dinner. Grant Hardin, a man who was relieved of his duties as Police Chief for harassing and threatening the civilians of Gateway, Arkansas was arrested for the murder of James Appleton. Later and to everyone’s surprise, Grant Hardin was charged with another violent crime from 20 years prior. Grant's evil deeds and ways earned him the name “The Devil in the Ozarks.” Grant Hardin was due to likely spend the rest of his natural life behind prison walls but that all changed in May of 2025 when the Devil himself walked out and away from the Arkansas Department of Corrections’ North Central Unit in Calico Rock. 30 minutes later a national fugitive manhunt ensued.

July 20, 2020: 23 year old Zachariah Juwaun Shorty went missing from a motel room at the Journey Inn, located at 317 N. Airport Drive in Farmington, New Mexico.  According to Zach’s mother, there were four individuals staying there in addition to her son.  This was two men and two women.  The room number was 129. 68 year old Terry Lee McCoy lived alone in a nice ranch style home on 38 acres of land. Few several months he had been working to sell the home and property to downsize but mysteriously he vanished. At his home there were obvious signs of foul play. Terry didn’t just disappear he was murdered and likely by someone who knew him. His body was found 19 days later. There are several “Persons of Interest” in this still unsolved homicide case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension tip line 1-877-996-6222. February 28, 2025 - a simple welfare check was requested by multiple persons at a residence in Waukesha, Wisconsin.  Deputies were sent to the home to check on a family of three.  No one answered the door.  Soon the officers would have to force their way into the home.  What they discovered there quickly made a simple check a very complex homicide investigation.  The Waukesha Sheriff’s Office filed and executed multiple search warrants, and shortly after a nationwide manhunt was underway.  Nikita Casap, killed his parents and that was just the start of it.

If there ever was a boy who was a living legend in his neck of the woods, well for West Monroe, Louisiana in the early 1980’s it was Jimmy Townsend.  Jimmy was smart, talented, good looking, and liked by all.  He was known in West Monroe for his athleticism and the ability to carry his youth sports teams to success.  It was thought that Jimmy would most certainly someday take his talents to the Majors.  Jimmy as it seemed was destined for big things.  Jimmy and a group of friends were confronted and attacked by a group of older boys at the annual Ark-La-Miss fair. Jimmy was beaten to death by those boys. The reports vary but it could have been as many as 7 older boys that surrounded and beat Jimmy Townsend to death.  The murder of 13 year old Jimmy Townsend is still unsolved. On the morning of Wednesday, April 19th, 1995 an ex-army soldier turned homegrown terrorist Timothy James McVeigh blew up the Alfred P. Murrah building in downtown Oklahoma City. He had conspired with others to carryout this horrific act against his fellow Americans. April 19th, is also Patriot’s Day. In 1995 it was the sad two year anniversary of the conclusion of the Waco Siege resulting in the deaths of many American citizens. This too, would be that day that the state of Arkansas executed Richard Snell. Snell was convicted of hate crimes, murder, and a man who once conspired to blow up the Alfred P. Murray building.

Timothy James McVeigh was a decorated American Soldier who served during Operation Desert Storm. After the war McVeigh had difficulties finding a new path for himself. Ultimately, he became enraged against the government that his soldier duties once served. He believed and told others that the U.S. government was in the process of taking away the freedoms of its citizens. Then Ruby Ridge happened and when the Waco standoff was in its early stages he was present, even giving an interview to a local reporter. These events were “proof” to McVeigh that he was right. All of his fears were coming true. Timothy McVeigh became America’s worst homegrown terrorist when he blew up the Alfred P. Murrah building in downtown Oklahoma City. What meaning did the Oklahoma City Bombing hold for Timothy McVeigh and beyond? Was it revenge? Was it the first act of a revolution? Was it a going away present for Richard Snell?

The Waco siege began on February 28, 1993, when the ATF raided Mount Carmel Center. The ensuing gun battle resulted in the deaths of four ATF agents and six Branch Davidians. This chaos kicked off a 51 day standoff that ended in the deaths of many of the Branch Davidians including women, children, and leader David Koresh.

In 1983 David Koresh formally Vernon Wayne Howell claimed to possess the power of prophecy. This would spearhead his accent to leadership of a Texas religious group known as the Branch Davidians. The Branch Davidians were a splinter group of the Davidian Seventh Day Adventists. Koresh prophesied that his martyrdom would take place in the United States.

Ruby Ridge is the name given to a standoff that lasted for days when federal agents were attempting to serve a bench warrant for husband, father, and property owner Randy Weaver. Weaver was wanted for failure to appear in court, facing illegal weapons charges. A series of errors created unnecessary bloodshed. Several people lost their lives on both sides of this standoff. The words Ruby Ridge have grown to be an “uncomfortable” phrase for many people, communities, and U.S. Government agencies. Ruby Ridge was much more than a big and deadly misunderstanding. Ruby Ridge was an abuse of power and forever shall be a stain on the agencies that abused their power.

Hate itself is not a crime. Hate is a feeling, an emotion but hate can very easily become criminal. In fact we see it everyday on the News, playing out before our eyes. Richard Wayne Snell was a white separatist and a white supremacist. His hate became criminal. He committed several hate crimes that resulted in the murders of innocent people. Unfortunately within certain groups throughout several states Richard Snell was looked at as a leader, an influencer, and a lone wolf. He was a bad man full of hate who preferred to operate alone but when his mission became overthrowing the U.S. Government it required that he work with others. He found friendship in several hate groups that operated far and wide, from Arkansas all the way out to Washington state. Richard Wayne Snell’s hate fueled more hate and that hate turned violent and deadly.

One year ago two women went missing. Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelly were traveling together to pick up Veronica’s children. At the time, the children were in the custody of their grandmother Tifany Adams. After the women were reported missing, Tifany instructed police that the two women never arrived to retrieve the kids. Veronica’s vehicle was discovered abandoned. At the scene of the vehicle police found signs of foul play. Days later the bodies of the women were discovered buried a little more than 8 miles from the vehicle. Someone went to great extremes in a failed attempt to conceal the bodies. This is the case that many refer to as "The Kansas Moms Murders."

On Friday, August 11, 2000 - 24 year old Erin Taylor left a message on her best friend’s answering machine at 10:04PM. A few days later her friend traveled to Erin’s house looking for her. Her findings were alarming and concerning. She decided to report her friend missing as she feared the worst for Erin. What was known was that Erin had plans to meet a man from out of town that weekend. However after the Friday night answering machine message no one had heard from Erin and the days were dragging on. Days later, Erin’s body was found in a wooded area. Someone had placed her there and covered her with a blanket. Her case remains unsolved. On June 4th, 2019 shortly after 5pm, longtime friends Carnell (Nell) Sledge and Katherine (Kate) Brown arrived at the Rocky River Reservation in Fairview Park, Ohio. The two met at the pull-off lot north of the Lorain Road bridge. They both were shot and killed while sitting at a park bench next to the river. Anyone with information regarding these murders is asked to call the FBI’s Cleveland Field Office at 216-622-6842. Tips can also be submitted at tips.fbi.gov
