The Invisible Woman

Regardless of background, education, skills, status, class or professional path, once a woman hits 50, she vanishes; her access to opportunity is limited and she is gradually excluded from fully participating in society until she disappears. Is this happening to you too?

The Invisible Woman is a research and awareness project produced by Just Gold Digital Agency to create awareness on an urgent global syndrome affecting women over 50 years old.

Katherine Ellis on Social and Financial Security

Shocking data has revealed how easy it is for seemingly prosperous women to become homeless, which is then exasperated by shame and isolation. What can women do to prevent this from happening to themselves, and what needs to change in society to alleviate this problem all together?

Join us as we speak with CEO of the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria, Katherine Ellis. Katherine shares her perspective on the importance of social connection for mental health, and planning for social and financial security heading into older age and retirement.

Genevieve Theseira-Haese on the 'Her Story' Movement

In this episode we speak to the Founder of the HerStory Movement of South Australia and Former Adelaide Mayoress, Genevieve Theseira-Haese. She explores the powerful untold stories of women uncovered by the HerStory Movement, as women not only became invisible back then - but nameless.

Learning about the life experiences of women in history explains to us why society is the way it is now, and how we can shape a better future for everyone. We ask Genevieve about the complexities of ageing in our society, and if it differs in the past. She also casts light on the complexities of financial independence as a woman and businesswoman in modern times.

In the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index, Australia was ranked 25th out of 182 countries back in 2013. Now, we have dropped to 50th place. Whilst we are ranked equal 1st for the education for women, we are ranked 70th in economic participation.

In the final part of our In Conversation episodes, we ask Dr Porter: What sorts of gaps do you see in the system, as not being met by those millions invested by the government?</itunes:summary>

Katherine Ellis on Barriers to Home Ownership

Invisibility is not just about money; it is about power too. Katherine Ellis explores how the foundation of invisibility can be laid in a woman’s youth, and can begin as early as their 40's. We all know a fundamental barrier from falling into poverty is owning your own home, but the current housing market means that young people are not optimistic for the future – they are now fearful of it.

Join Katherine Ellis as she illustrates what the next generation of The Invisible Woman will look like if the status quo remains, and the action required to transform it.

Join Jo Cavanagh as she discusses the data drawn from grassroots research that has been codified into the Five D’s that are affecting women: Disability, Divorce, Death of partner, Domestic violence, and a Dearth of dollars.
