La familia necesita tener un vehículo confiable, seguro, y con la suficiente potencia para poder realizar los viajes de vacaciones con los abuelos. El segmento de la camioneta SUV familiar es el mas grande de todo el parque automotor de hoy.

Todas las fábricas ofrecen su versión, y cada una de ellas posee ciertos atributos que la diferencian entre unas y otras.

Los líderes de antaño ya no tienen su monopolio en esta clase de carros. Los coreanos han logrado introducir lujo y prestaciones que eran impensables años atrás.

Mazda introduce la CX90 con un estilo exterior único. Además le ofrece al conductor una dinámica como si fuera un sedan deportivo. Por el otro lado Jeep, con su Grand Cherokee, es la camioneta 4x4 familiar mas vendida en el país.

El lujo interior ya no es exclusivo de las marcas Alemanas. La coreana Hyundai Palisade y la japonesa Acura MdX crean un ambiente muy especial con detalles finos y muy buenos materiales que hasta hace poco no los veíamos en carros para la familia.

Dentro del sector también se encuentran opciones para los que gustan de las aventuras en los fines de semana. Versiones “aventureras” de la Honda Pilot, KIA Telluride, y Subaru Ascend nos permiten llegar a los mejores lugares para acampar con la familia.

Versiones enchufables permiten minimizar el impacto al medio ambiente y la Plug-In Mitsubishi Outlander junto con la Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe son dos de las mejores opciones de hoy.

Si el espacio interior es prioridad la Chevrolet Traverse ofrece amplio lugar para llevar adultos en su tercer fila de asientos y todavía retener un gran baúl.

La mas vendida en el sector es la Toyota Highlander y la confianza en su mecánica hace que este entre el selecto grupo de las camionetas que podemos recomendar.

En este capítulo de Garage Latino nuestros amigos Ricardo y David empiezan con noticias interesantes como el deseo de Cadillac de ingresar al mundo de la F1, de la mano de Team Andretti.

Además, dan un breve vistazo a novedades del show CES 2023, evento de primer nivel de presentación de novedades electrónicas, en el cual los fabricantes automotrices cada vez tienen más presencia.

Una de las primicias es que el auto eléctrico de Sony y de Honda finalmente tiene nombre: Afeela. Y fecha de lanzamiento en EUA: primavera del 2026.

RAM finalmente da señales de vida en el segmento de pickups eléctricas pues presentó el prototipo Revolution que da una muestra de lo que será su camioneta cero emisiones.

Y entrando en materia, nuestros amigos de Garage Latino hablan de la pequeña camioneta ecológica Kia Niro, que se ofrece en tres sabores: Híbrida, Híbrida Conectable y 100% eléctrica.

Además de ser variada en cuanto a su grado de electrificación, destaca por su diseño moderno y alegre, al igual que su cabina amigable y llena de tecnología.

Por último, hablan de la gigantesca RAM Power Wagon, una resistente camioneta de servicio pesado que ofrece una capacidad todoterreno ejemplar.

Esta pickup tiene un V8 Hemi de 6.4 litros con 410 caballos y además suspensión especialmente diseñada para lidiar con terrenos difíciles.

Tiene desconexión de la barra estabilizadora delantera para mejor articulación del eje en caminos accidentados…o fuera de ellos.

Y parece imparable gracias a sus bloqueos para el diferencial delantero y trasero pero en caso de que las condiciones detengan a la Power Wagon, de fábrica viene con winch Warn de 12 mil libras.
