Concert CAST

Concert CAST is an immersive documentary podcast from Vemorii, a platform for music tourism and gig tripping. This isn’t made from a couch or behind a desk. It’s recorded on the road under glowing marquees, inside green rooms, and at the venue itself.
From iconic venues, DIY warehouses, and analog spaces far off the map. Recorded in snowstorms, on tour buses, at festivals, from the front row of songwriting rounds, and in parking lots searching for a miracle ticket.
I’m Kyle Lamont, creator and host. Join me on the road, backstage, and alongside concertgoers as I capture conversations with artists and fans, along with personal audio essays and observations that reflect the nuance, empathy, and emotional side of concert culture. For Gig Trippers ready to go the distance, Visit https://vemorii.live/ for more concert culture storytelling, including a new video TALK SHOW.

Ghosted by a Rockstar. Haunted by his Music: An Audio Essay on Love, Loss, and Live Music

I matched with the frontman of a band I used to sing my heart out to, one of our most prolific songwriters. A brief romance unfolded, then ended without a single word. Here’s what I learned about the duality of musicians and the heartbreak of mistaking his lyrics for the person I thought he was.

**********************************************************************************

Ghosting isn’t new, but being ghosted by one of our generation’s most well-known songwriters, the frontman of a band I used to sing my heart out to, is.

I’m Kyle Lamont, a live music journalist and critic and after weeks of thoughtful messages and a couple of dates with a man known for his lyrical courage, I believed that if it ended, it would at least end with some words. It didn’t.

I was wrecked. Baffled. And most of all, disappointed by the fact that I had lost sight of something so fundamental: the person and the performer are not the same.

Worse, his music, a formative part of my life, now haunts me. Torch songs I loved are now hollow, a reminder of what once was and what could have been.

I’ve spent years traveling to music venues across the country, documenting stories from venue owners, bands, and fans to show the interconnectedness of travel and live music.
Flagstaff, AZ: A Mystical Music Town

When Kyle Lamont, host of Concert Cast, makes a quick stop in Flagstaff, AZ, along Route 66, a one-night stay turns into a month-long musical adventure.

Join me on a backstage tour of the historic Orpheum Theatre, where I uncover wild tales from its storied past—like the unforgettable night Umphrey’s McGee rocked so hard they blew out the lights.
A "Wild" Band Interview with 76th Street

"Wild" is a 6-song musical journey featuring everything from a heart-pounding love song dedicated to Nashville's hottest queer bar to what might be the most joyful and liberating break-up song you'll ever hear. The album peaks with a homage to gay musicians who inspired the band, evolving into its own queer anthem guaranteed to get you dancing and leave you humming, "I think that I just got more gay."

Kyle's bond with the band dates back to 2021 when she chronicled the sonic soul sisters' Nashville debut in a rockumentary podcast, capturing the besties as they performed, rehearsed, and prepped for shows. This follow-up video podcast offers a glimpse into the band's musical evolution as both artists and humans. While their lyrics now embrace same-sex pronouns, 76th Street's core message remains unwavering: strength, independence, and radical self-love. Their friendship has also evolved, now bearing a new title: platonic wives!

Listen to Wild in its entirety on Spotify:

Listen to Club Remix of “Girl” by ZKY

Buy “I Think that I just Got More Gay” Tshirt

https://www.76thstreetofficial.com/shop

Listen to the Rockumentary Podcast feat. 76Th Street's origin story

https://concertcast.live/checkcheck.html

Follow 76th Street on Instagram

https://www.instagram.com/76thstreet/

Follow Kyle Lamont on Instagram

https://www.instagram.com/kyle_lamont/

Subscribe to Concert Cast on Apple

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/concert-cast-rockumentary-podcasts-exploring-concert/id1437457725

Subscribe to Concert Cast on Spotify

https://open.spotify.com/show/0PVDaLUyesfaW2nPZxbzgh?si=eeda2f0b8cd24e9b

Let's Go Festival: Fashion at Under the Oaks, Maine Feat. Lena Kendall

Hi, I'm Kyle Lamont, your host and wow, I had the incredible opportunity to spend time with Lena, the lead singer of GoldenOak, in her cozy she-shed as she prepared for her headlining performance at the Under the Oaks Music Festival in Western Maine. Known for her unique and stylish outfits, Lena walked me through her pre-show routine, sharing intimate details of how her fashion choices intertwine with her music. But it wasn't all serious - we had laugh-out-loud moments too, even roasting band members' outfits.

The experience was part of a two-day camping festival where I wandered through the woods on a mushroom foraging adventure along the Sandy River and joined fellow festival-goers for a pancake breakfast served by the band. Throughout the episode, I leaned into my curiosity about how fashion, music, and location influence each other, bringing in voices from fans who shared their thoughts on this fascinating interplay.

I invite you to push play on "Let's Go Festival," a podcast series on ConcertCast.live that transports you to community-focused music events, offering an intimate look at the intersection of music and culture.

Subscribe on Apple Podcasts

Subscribe on Spotify Podcasts

Follow Kyle Lamont on Instagram

Follow GoldenOak on Instagram

Thank you for listening!

Push play for a tour of Happy Top, a one-of-a-kind B&B in Athens, Georgia that's also an analog performance space and recording studio. You'll hear the origin story, the approach to the vintage decoration and design (there's a piano in every room. Literally.), and how owner T.S. Woodward created a signal flow speaker system, giving each room a different audio flavor. Plus, an authentic perspective on why Athens has such a special music scene.

I'm Kyle Lamont, founder and host of Concert Cast, a rockumentary podcast network. Our series "In the Pocket" explores independently owned venues where music and community come together in surprising places. We showcase these unique spots, often at risk due to gentrification, by telling their stories and showing how they shape concert culture.

T.S Woodward wishes to say a very special thank you to Michael Smith-Lanzar (his next door neighbor from 2019-2022 [but resident there since 2014]) who was the first person he met on Bryan St, told him all about the history of Happy Top, helped to negotiate with the city the sewer/water infrastructure & who is an indefatigable activist for human rights.

Book yourself a stay at Happy Top:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/34414912?source_impression_id=p3_1721428035_P3x6xgljy6A-N1Q7

For more rockumentary podcasts exploring concert culture visit https://concertcast.live/index.html

Keep up with Kyle Lamont on Instagram

https://www.instagram.com/kyle_lamont/

Follow Cookie Tongue Band

https://www.instagram.com/cookietonguemusic/

Copyright by Kyle Lamont of Good To Go Studios LLC 2024, USA

I’m on location in Las Vegas for Phish’s historic inaugural run at The Sphere, but there’s one problem: I don’t have a ticket. Join me as I put a "finger up" and hit the pavement with the miracle ticket seekers outside the world's most advanced venue. But the quest doesn’t stop at the gates. We’re going deep into the Phish subculture—from webcast gatherings and late-night after-parties to the infamous "Nitrous Alley" and Uber rides filled with unfiltered fan theories.

In this episode:

🗣️ Real-Time Reviews: Reactions from fans moments after stepping out of the Sphere.

🐐 The "Goat" Trade: The insane lengths (and prices) people went to for a miracle.

Salt Lake City has a strange reputation. When Kyle Lamont peels back the stereotypes however, she finds that the city’s concert culture is creative, edgy and kind. We will go from salt flats to velvet curtains, passing through local nerd caves. We will hang out with Travis Bone, a world renowned illustrator, and hear his surprising process when designing a concert poster. We will meet up with Will Sartain, the co-owner of the Urban Lounge, who might just spill secrets about the venue's live music lore.
Religion quite literally shapes this city’s geography. After spending time with Travis and Will, you will hear how Mormonism also deeply influences the city’s concert culture. It’s a brand of kindness that seeps out from the artists in a very Salt Lake City way. Here, community is more important than celebrity. Take this episode as your invitation to couch-surf through Salt Lake City’s caring crowd.

Music heard in this episode: The songs you heard in this episode are Paint over Prayers, Coma, Face Against the Glass, This Winding Road and More Melody. They were written and performed by Will Sartain. Produced by Kilby Records and Exumbrella Records. Body Language was performed by Monotonix and produced by Drag City Records. And Exceptional Whore is by Vile Blue Shades recorded at the Urban Lounge.

Heartbreak is a regenerative journey that takes you down many emotional paths. Depression, displacement—for me, denial that I would ever want to be in love again.

And during each stage of the process, the perfect song would seem to serendipitously appear and like a lyrical blanket, insulate my cold heart.

Starting with Carol King lamenting, "It's too Late," transitioning into Little Dragon’s, “No Love.” Then it was Peter Tosh bellowing, “Why Must I Cry,” and as of late, “Last Goodbye” by Jeff Buckley. And many, many, other songwriters were there for me too.

Yet, these songs are a double-edged sword inadvertently reinforcing despair. The truth is, they made me kind of calloused towards love too. But when I venture into the Amphitheater at the Bangor Waterfront to photograph contemporary pop stars JAX, MAX, and Big Time Rush, I feel giddy and carefree and I start to see love through a sparkling lens of optimism again.I can’t help but wonder, was this pop concert the culmination of my healing journey, or rather, the start of a new love cycle?

For more Rockumentary podcasts exploring concert culture, go to http://concertcast.live/

Let's Go Festival: Sandy River presented by Concert Cast

New from Concert Cast, we present: Let’s Go Festival - A rockumentary podcast that brings the music festival to you.

Our series starts in Farmington, Maine at the Sandy River Music Festival. Here, there are no frills, just a bunch of passionate people coming together to celebrate local musicians.

Singer Jason Spooner puts it this way: “We've played a bunch of festivals where it's kind of a zoo. Big lines and port-a-potty masses and mud and the energy's just almost a little too frenetic. This is more my style, everybody's laid back and very respectful." The Sandy River Music Festival might just be one of the most Maine things out there. Fire pits to gather around, fresh mountain water to swim in, musicians to sway to. It's a festival that manages to be both eclectic and cozy, vast and very familiar.

The Venue

It seems that many Maine musicians feel that they have to leave Maine to make it in the music scene. And Mainers often feel like they have to go to big cities to hear music magic. What makes the Sandy River Music Festival so special is that when you stand in the field behind the Narrow Gauges cinema, where it is located, this feeling disappears. You are exactly where you need to be. You can feel magic in the river and in the crowds of committed music lovers. Families near campfires, friends dancing, solo campers meeting new friends. You can come to the Sandy River Festival as you are.

Lena, from the Maine band Golden Oak told me, “Every time I come home, I'm so impressed. I'm just like, What is happening in Farmington? When did you get so hip and cool and super cool?”

The Music

An amazing thing about the music here is that it doesn’t feel exclusive. You can listen to bands reference each other in their set intros, grab a beer with them after they play or join in on impromptu fire pit jams.

Many festival go-ers know the musicians too. Either indirectly, having grown up listening to them at shows or directly, as friends. And that’s a special feeling no-one takes for granted.

The Camping - Glamping

The festival is an overnight affair. You’ve got some options. You can rent beautiful bell tents that can fit up to six of your friends. Or you can bring an RV. The camping grounds are spacious and within walking distance to the very swimmable Sandy River.

The Idea Man - Meet John the Owner

“He goes into a quantum timescape. He's running so fast and so steady. It's just like a stargate opens up.” That’s just one of the ways John, the organizer of this festival is described. I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you’re looking for the story of one man backed by a superhero team of technicians, planners, builders and wizards making magic happen – have a listen to this episode of Concert Cast.

Memorial Day Lineup of musical memories

Get your tickets for this years festival here.

Special thank you to

Franklin Savings bank for sponsoring this episode.
B:E3 Athens, Georgia: Feat. Cookie Tongue at Flicker Theater & Bar

It’s a new year and I’m ready with my favorite playlists to hit the road and get my long-awaited live music fix…but wait, not quite yet. Omicron beats me to the venues and sends me off course. Searching for an ember of music in a strangely quiet Athens, Georgia, I stumble upon a freak folk soundscape at Flicker Theater & Bar. Childlike wonder takes over as I’m bewitched by the wild sights and sounds of Cookie Tongue. This truly bonus episode will introduce you to Omer Gal, Cookie Tongue’s creator. He is also a stop motion video maker, puppeteer and simply fascinating. And you’ll meet a mouse; that’s a Concert Cast first!
In between sets, we talk with Adam Wayton, the talent buyer at Flicker Theater who is also in a band called The Pink Stones. He talks about his approach to booking and we hear why Athens is such a popular music town. When you are on the other side of this episode, we hope you’ll be inspired to turn off your overly-played favorites and listen for something new. Vemorii is a woman-owned platform for live music tourism, made for fans
who go the distance.

Our flagship shows, Concert CAST & CHAT, are the only immersive concert
going programs recorded from ON the road and ON location at the VENUE.

If you are a gig tripper, a ticket holder, part of concert culture, this
is for you.

CAST = Rockumentary audio stories from the road & the venues
CHAT = Video Series Reviewing venues & performances immediately after
the encore from a car parked outside.

For brands in travel, hospitality, and live music, this channel shows
what partnership can look like. Reach out to join us.

<itunes:summary>It’s a new year and I’m ready with my favorite playlists to hit the road and get my long-awaited live music fix…but wait, not quite yet.
When you are on the other side of this episode, we hope you’ll be inspired to turn off your overly-played favorites and listen for something new.</itunes:summary>

S2:E7 Mental Health on Tour Feat Tour Manager Misty Roberts

During the pandemic, Lamont hosted remote conversations with thought leaders who were actively shape shifting and recalibrating the next rendition of concert going and culture.
This episode was recorded at the peak of the pandemic when mental health emerged as one of the most discussed and newly reformed subjects in the industry.
Kyle Lamont connects virtually with Misty Roberts, a seasoned tour manager who has worked with top touring bands, Bruno Mars, Metallica, and Haim. Her candid revelations shed light on the future of touring, unveiling profound insights that advocate for extreme changes. Misty emphasizes that while managing logistics remains integral to tour operations, prioritizing mental and physical health must become an above the line concern for every individual involved in the concert touring business.
S2:E1 Behind the scenes of a live stream with artist Angelikah Fahray

Season 2: Concert Culture in the time of COVID
The State Theater in Portland, Maine has opened its doors to Conclave, a live streaming concert series. It’s not bringing in the same kind of revenue as they did before with live shows, and it’s probably not covering their actual operating costs - but it is a way for musicians and technical crews in Portland to keep working on projects they love somehow, bringing live music to people in their homes.
In this episode, Lamont meets via Zoom with Angelikah Fahray, and R&B singer/songwriter who delivered a spell-binding performance to the empty theatre. With her bandmate Bill Giordano and producer Joshua James Hand of Bird Theory, a company now producing these live streams expertly - to talk about how they’re keeping the music alive.
Listen to go behind the scenes of a finely tuned live musical broadcast, and to take a look at how you can support your favorite venues - because they’re at risk of dying off because of the pandemic.

<itunes:summary>Join host Kyle Lamont on an auditory journey down roads less traveled, where the spirit of a road trip mirrors the spontaneity of musical improvisation.
In this episode, we meet up with Jon Fishman, the drummer of PHISH, at his weekly radio show in Belfast, Maine called "The Errant Path." Enjoy a candid conversation shedding light on Fishman's musical background, his love for venues, and the inexplicable allure of small-town performances. There is even a kismet studio caller by a long lost friend.
From reminiscing about Phish's historic performances in Maine on top of an air control tower in Limestone to road trip anecdotes, Fishman shares vivid memories of gigs at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and intimate clubs and reflects on the joys of being on the road.
This episode offers a glimpse into Phish's enduring legacy, yet it feels a lot like being in a cool jam session in your buddy's basement, where the stories flow as smoothly as the music, inviting you to kick back, relax, and connect.</itunes:summary>

Concert CAST Trailer: Road Trippin Maine's Music Scene

Season 1 of Concert Cast hits the road across Maine, documenting a music scene that’s bigger and more varied than it gets credit for. This isn’t a studio podcast. It’s immersive. Recorded in motion, between towns, outside venues, and sometimes even while I’m driving through a snow squall, interviewing bands before they hit the stage takes a different level of effort in Maine.

I'm your host Kyle Lamont & jump in and join me as we take a musical journey through Maine's Concert Culture.

The distances are long, and each region brings a different sound, a different crowd, and a different energy around live music. From Portland’s busiest venues to the most remote rooms in northern Maine, the scene changes fast, and that contrast drives the story.

Concert Cast works as an audio atlas. Part travel log, part field recording, part conversation. It maps where to go, what to expect, and what stands out once you get there.

You’ll hear from venue owners, bands, fans, music therapists, and even a lobsterman by day and drag queen by night. Along the way, there’s time spent with Jon Fishman of Phish after his radio show in Belfast, trips out to the islands, and a return to my hometown for ghost stories and one-on-one conversations with the people shaping Maine’s culture.

The show moves through warehouses, DIY spaces, established venues, and even places still under construction. It’s immersive, vulnerable, and layered, connecting the dots between music and place in a way that only happens when you’re there for all of it.

Between venues and long stretches of road, the show pulls back. Moments of reflection, looking at why live music and travel are so interconnected.

If you are a gig tripper, are traveling to Maine for a summer trip, this is a podcast you'll want to download. Its real local and real immersive and really fun!

Vemorii is a woman-owned platform for live music tourism, made for fans who go the distance.

Our flagship shows, Concert CAST & CHAT, are the only immersive concert going programs recorded from ON the road and ON location at the VENUE.

If you are a gig tripper, a ticket holder, part of concert culture, this is for you.

CAST = Rockumentary audio stories from the road & the venues
CHAT = Video Series Reviewing venues & performances immediately after the encore from a car parked outside.

For brands in travel, hospitality, and live music, this channel shows what partnership can look like.
