I am psyched and honored to have the amazingly talented, ever so sweet (( see what I did there) and by far one of the coolest people I have ever talked with, Amy Fleisher-Madden on the show this week!

Amy founded the independent record label, Fiddler Records, in Miami, Florida when she was 16 years old. In her mind, it was a logical progression from her local fanzine. Before she could even vote she discovered and broke bands like Dashboard Confessional, New Found Glory, and several other indie darlings you may or may not have heard of. She oversaw the creative direction and released over 25 records—which is what fueled her desire to properly learn Art Direction at the world-famous Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Upon completing her degree, Madden promptly moved to New York City to work as a Copywriter for an advertising agency. Having real-world experience with her own business helped her climb the ranks quickly, and she fast became a Creative Director working for what you could call ginormous brands.

And after nearly a decade of that hustle and bustle, Madden decided to try her hand as a freelance creative whilst writing a book. This worked out well, and her first novel A Million Miles was released in 2014 to rave reviews and has become a fan favorite in the music scene.

In 2022 Amy inked a deal with Chronicle Books to release NEGATIVES, a first-of-its-kind photographic archive of the emo music scene from 1996 to 2006, which will be released October, 24th!

I met Josh almost 14 years ago at a wedding. Since then we have been friends and I am so honored and blessed by his friendship.

✨🐞✨ I am excited to have my amazing pal Chris Conley of Saves The Day back on the show for the 2nd time! I’m just so lucky to call this magical human my friend! ✨ Recorded a few weeks back, this episode was originally scheduled be released on Wednesday The Third aka ‘Saves The Day’ Day! 😉 Chris and I agreed to shelf this episode for a little bit and take time to speak on something that is so important which is the Black Lives Matter movement. Both Chris and I believe in the movement so much! We are just a couple of kiddos born in 80 & 81 trying to figure it all out! 😝 But we had so much fun! In this episode I talk to two amazing pals Keldine Hull and Orlando Deral about the very important movement known as Black Lives Matter! I want to use this podcast as a platform for voices to be heard and information to be put out into the world about equality! I know as a white gal I don't have the words or understanding to best address this topic the way is should. I have these amazing friends we can hear from and I am so happy to have those talks with them.

In the last episode (018) I talked with my friend Lloyd Vines about this as well. Be sure and check that great conversation out!

I met Keldine aka Kelly Bean when I worked in high end retail. She and I would spend many days, just the two of us at the store on Sunset blvd talking and listening to Muse and brainstorming our writing projects! Kelly is the author of a children’s book called 'The Lonely Old Record Store.' So dang awesome! I would love to have her back on the show to talk about that soon!

I met Orlando at my gym, Equinox! Orlando is an instructor there and I LOVE taking his classes. Before covid-19 I would do “double class Tuesdays” where I took back to back classes of his. Even though they were so tough I always left feeling great and encouraged. Orlando is a dang ball of sunshine!

In this episode I am sharing back to back conversations I had with both Kelly and Orlando about BLM. We discuss topics such as:

The history of African Americans in America.
Their own personal stories.
Their hope and optimism for the future and more!

In this episode (018) I chat about the Black Lives Matter movement with my friend Lloyd Vines! BLM is something that is so so very SO important! I understand that as a white woman in America I do not have the voice or understanding to speak fully about these issues. I want to use this podcast as a platform for voices to be heard on these issues from friends who can speak on them. <3 I met Lloyd via our mutual pal Chris Conley recently. The two of them have been collaborating on music projects. Lloyd is an artist, skateboarder and all around super rad human and I am blessed to call him a friend! He is currently working on an album that I am so dang pumped to hear and I will have him back on the show soon to chat about it! In THIS episode we discuss his life and what it is like to be a person of color in the alternative music scene who loves punk rock, emo and skateboarding. Lloyd also shares personal stories of his life, situations he has faced with police over the years and his hope for the future of humanity.

We hope that with this conversation we can help spread awareness about the BLM movement.

In this episode I chat with one of my favorite singer/songwriters Matt Pryor. Matt is known for his work in The Get Up Kids, The New Amsterdams, The Terrible Twos and Radar State. He also has his own solo records. ALL are so dang amazing!

How I discovered The Get Up Kids, the nostalgic EMO’S music venue located in Austin, his thoughts on hanging with fans before or after a show. the term EMO & the evolution of the EMO scene, natural talent vs. hard work, the difference between TGUK, The New Ams & Radar State songs and how they find their home in specific bands, if there are plans for new a new Terrible Twos album, the amazing kindness of one of our mutual friends Chris Conley (of Saves The Day) and what its like having someone other than James play the keys in TGUK.

We talk about more than just music too! We discuss our shared love of John Mulaney, Pete Holmes, Schitt’s Creek and the hillarious Letter Kenny, the book ‘Comedy Sex God’ by Pete Holmes and how we found a little bit of our own story within Pete’s story. In this episode I chat with my friend Jay Bakker. Jay is an author, speaker and pastor of Revolution Church. He is the son of Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker who are pretty well known in the Christian Evangelical world. Growing up in the spotlight of his parents made for an interesting life story to say the least. Jay’s story is really unique and inspiring.

Jay is very open about his life, his theology of grace and his mental health journey. I had so much fun talking to Jay! I am happy to call him a friend and I believe he has so much to offer the world. Even if you don’t subscribe to what Jay teaches, I know that everyone can benefit from his journey. Its one of acceptance, forgiveness and authenticity . Who doesn’t want more of that in this world?!? We talk about all this plus music, tattoos, his family, mental health and even our shared Enneagram 4 traits!

Happy New Year, y'all! I'm kickin' off 2020 off with a fun conversation with my friend Jayme Foxx! I have known Jayme since 2003 when we met on Myspace. We both lived in Texas at the time but a few years later we both found ourselves living in Los Angeles and have been friends ever since!

Jayme has been doing some amazing stuff in her life! To just to name a FEW: She is a model / T.V. host who has been featured on CMT's 'Tattoo Titans' and Free Form's 'Oh My Josh.' She has also graced the cover of Inked Magazine. She is also on the ONNIT Pro Team! (she showed me their product Alpha Brain and I am loving it!) She is also a regular on the Jason Ellis Show on Serious FM. She host Travis Barker's Musink Tattoo Festival yearly! These, like I said are to name a few and she is not slowing down! What I love most about Jayme is that she so unapologeticly herself and she lives her life with so much intention.

We talk about all this, our love of animals, living a meat free life, silly stories of our friendship and so much more!

Ethan has worked with bands such as The Dingees, The Supertones (oh my gosh my nostalgic 90's heart is so happy), Demon Hunter, Cold War Kids, Kings Of Leon (which whom he shared the stage of The Hollywood Bowl with...omg) and many more! He also has a solo album which is pretty dang amazing.

I have known Ethan close to a decade. He is one of the best humans and I am so happy to call him a pal!

This week I talk about how I navigate my life as I live with an anxiety disorder & depression. After a poll online I learned that so many of y'all wanted me to address this issue.

Inspired by a book called 'Furiously Happy' by Jenny Lawson I talk about my life thought the lens of some of my favorite quotes from this raw but also hilarious book!

(PSA: you will hear the anxiety in my voice as I do this podcast because just talking about this subject cause it's scary. BUT that is real life, so here we go!)

Topics include:

My personal experiences with anxiety & depression.
My experience with medication & therapy.
How faith (whatever religion you subscribe to) can help, but it is important to know that humans NEED other humans as well. We are not meant to be secluded.
What practical everyday things I can do to help with those anxious thoughts & feelings.

In honor of the Emmys this week, my husband Mark joins be and we talk about our F.R.I.E.N.D.S. in this special episode.

I could ramble for hours on this subject because I like many MANY others out there in the world watched and or still watch this show religiously.

From 1994-2004 Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Ross, Joey and Chandler were our friends. We hung out every Thursday night at 7 and it was always just the best.

**It's funny how when I get excited about something I start to talk a little quicker and you can totally see that in this episode. Ironically you would think I could say a lot more about it since I said it faster? BUT I left out so much stuff and so many characters that I adored in this show. To be honest I could have an entire podcast dedicated to this show! I have a lot to say about it...so I am sure I will talk about it again in the future...cause that is how I do.**

001: Teenage Politics & The Origin Story Of Christie Gee

It's funny....how one moment in your life can make such a huge impact right? This episode is about that very thing. Growing up in one of the smallest towns in the country (before the boom of internet & social media) to now one of the biggest cities in the world has been quite a journey. It has been a mixture of self discovery, working my way through the ideology of the pentecostal church and thinking outside of it's box, discovering my love of music and moving to Los Angeles where I would go on to work in high end retail (which was always full of fun surprises) to interviewing some of my most favorite musicians and other artists. In the midst of all of it, I fell in and out of love,I questioned alot and found answers in unexpected places, I faced some of the hardest battles and I am here today to tell y'all all about it.

I can trace a big moment back to the day I discovered a band from Bremerton, Washington called MXPX via their video for Teenage Politics in the mid 90's.

After that life was a pretty great adventure!
