Ebb and flow, failure and success. This is a story of achievements and heartbreak in believing in your choices and going for it through the good and bad until it's time to let it go. Johanna Holtan is a force of nature; a life of excellence and hard work, a real inspiration.

"Your work is only as strong as your heart" she says in one of her Medium articles and hers is made of resilience and love. Work ethic, dedication and passion; it's all personal for Jo and I relate to that. Starting from her Penny in Yo Pants venture moving onto her experience as an All-American Volleyball player at Juniata College to the Peace Corps we touch on the ups and downs and the difficulties of letting go.

Jo is now Director at the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program where she "gets to spend everyday working with young people from Africa who are firestarters to the core". The scholarship is based on the idea of transformative leadership and how values, beliefs, and principles can enable participants to make a positive impact on their communities. <3</itunes:summary>

A website for a theatre company more than 20 years ago launched Adam’s career in an industry that was still new and experimental. Since then he was able to ride the wave of digital marketing from its inception.

From his years at the gaming studio turned entertainment powerhouse Rebellion as Head of Internet to his years as Global Creative Director at Microsoft’s advertising branch, Adam killed it with his creative intuition and perfect timing. Qualities that were key in developing digital campaigns for 200+ movies for some of the biggest Hollywood studios out there.

What a ride, I hope you enjoy it! See you on the other side.

We start from the beginning all the way back in Greece. We touch on Billy’s inspirations growing up and on his early education years to then finish school at Plymouth University. Billy flush his style out discussing how he comes up with his specific visual sensibility and the main inspirations for his artwork. <itunes:summary>Hey guys, I'm trying out something new. Besides the longer beefier episodes I'd like to introduce a 30 minutes, shorter chat, where I (hopefully we) discuss five remarkable things. It's a tad generic but also to the point and I can focus on five things that I find really exciting and worthwhile. Please let me know what you think? as I would LOVE some real feedback to improve these type of episodes!

Thank you for listening :)</itunes:summary>

The journey to building a £2+ million business (with data)

Brie founded Snag Tights in 2017 after experiencing first hand the issues with the hosiery market. Tights are designed for a specific body type and you either fitted into that description or you were bound to wear uncomfortable garments. Solving that problem catapulted Snag Tights from 0 to £2.2 millions in sales in the first 2 years trading.. Before Snag Tights Brie co-founded and was CEO of a Facebook advertising agency called ForceTen Digital that at its peak employed 6 people before folding right after the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Prior to going down the entrepreneurship route she worked her way up at meal delivery company Diet Chef becoming CEO after starting from a Head of Marketing position. Her journey is a bumpy road and her honest recount offers a lot of insights for people wanting to improve their businesses. At the end of the interview we also discuss the idea of starting a business from scratch and what are the best possible steps to take to launch to market.

Building a bagel fuelled empire

Larah's journey is one of the most exciting I ever heard. From starting as an entertainer on a Disney cruise ship to briefly finding herself living the high life in New York her story is a roller-coaster. Working hard to make it in the entertaining industry Larah supported herself working as a Bartender in an exclusive club in New York where she learned the rope of customer service, which came in handy years later. From acting to comedy we touch on the hardship of making people laugh and life in the industry.
Is not until an intense experience as documentarian go south that Larah embraces the idea of life in academia; a bad turn that blossoms into finally opening the bagel shop that Edinburgh was missing.

You could possibly find Larah Bross in one of her shops or online here: https://brossbagels.com/[Twitter

Travelling as a way through self discovery

Carrie is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She studied fine art at Columbia College in Chicago and graduated in 1997.
She majored in photography & painting.

After spending six years travelling Carrie moved to Edinburgh in 2003 where where she set up as a freelancer mostly working on photo shoots, before landing a job from a volunteer position at Stills, Scotland's centre for photography. From that emerged a six year long career working for the organisation in various managerial roles until towards the end of her time at Stills she took an interest in sewing and launched a series of pop-up weekend or hacker-spaces called The Stitch Lounge.
Although these proved popular and fun, her idea to open a permanent sewing cafe slowly faded.

In 2011, Carrie left Stills, having decided to dip her toes in the corporate sector, and emerged with a senior role in a digital marketing agency. After four rewarding years at the agency Carrie embraced a new challenge and on the back of her experience as a successful Airbnb host she enrolled in a one year full time Interior Design course. These gave Carrie her next level confidence needed to quit the day job and launch Carrie Susan Interiors in early 2016.
