This week’s Frankie B’s Reggae Session brings together rising stars and reggae greats in one seamless mix. Nashville newcomer Levon Gray sets the tone with “Million Ways,” followed by Kayland Arnold’s smooth Florida groove on “U.” From Jamaica, Dahvid Slur teams with Karbon for “Do Jah Works,” while Claye and Gentleman bridge UK and EU sounds on “Nature (I Am Here Now).” Royal Blu, Mortimer, and Paris LaMont keep the energy high before the legendary Sister Nancy steps in with her classic “Bam Bam.”

I caught up with Samory I the morning after his Album Release party for "Strength." 7 Years after our first interview and months before the release of Black Gold, a lot has changed in Samory's life.

From his experience in the creation of Rory Stonelove's Black Gold, to his Collaboration with Winta James on the production of his new album Strength. I would say Samory I has evolved from a reggae singer to an artist and that his new Album should be a strong contender for next year's Grammys.

As we come down to the last day before Season 11. I wanted to hit you with a 420 friendly episode. The Hempire Strikes Back is one of those episodes that aged really well (which I can't say for all of my early episodes) with great artists, great music and running close to and hour and a half, it should keep you busy until tomorrow's episode!

Season 11 airs in 1 day and is packed with great music, including a good taste of the Newly Released, Ziggy Stardub, a reggae reimagining of David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and features guest performances by Maxi Priest, Steel Pulse, Fishbone, Alex Lifeson (Rush), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), The Skints, Mortimer, The Expanders, Samory I, and many others. It seriously is a beautiful Reggae Tribute to a Legend!

Kumar Fyah, came up in the scene with Raging Fyah and we talk about how that came about and what inspired the break-up; His Journey of becoming a successful Solo Artist and how a personal tragedy inspired his latest works on the Gratitude Riddim, "When The Smoke Clears".

I call it Mahalo Reggae, because artists like Anuhea, Siaosi, Irie Love, The Green, J-Boog, Fiji, Eli-Mac, Hot Rain and others seem to be able to create a perfect balance with that beautiful rootsy sounds with amazing vocals and it just makes me want to personally say Mahalo to all the artists in this session. I'm not the only one! Some of Jamaica's biggest labels have also noticed that the Hawaiian Islands can keep up with JA's best.
