      <title>10. Overcoming Overwhelm - Part Three</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p>Welcome to the third and final episode of my three part series on the common things I teach people who come to me to resolve problems with hypnosis.</p><p>In this episode I’ll be talking about overcoming overwhelm.       <description><![CDATA[<p>In this episode we'll be talking about how hypnosis can help with weight loss, and get some insight from Farrah Minnich. Farrah is certified nutritional therapy practitioner and owner of Food First Nutritional Therapy. When a person starts hypnosis to lose weight, the best way to deal with that is to deal with the emotion of food, and find out why a person is over eating. Generally overeating is a reaction to the stress and anxiety of a person's life. One of the ways to have a more nutritional and balanced diet is to eat like your grandparents did, cooking your own meals with whole ingredients and not eating processed foods. Our brains have a built in negativity bias, meaning we are hardwired to be on the lookout for threats, our ancestors had to be vigilant because any small movement could have been a predator looking to make you dinner. When something intense affects us, it becomes part of our subconscious mind.       <description><![CDATA[<p>Today's episode is all about relaxing and managing stress. I will share seven ideas and techniques that you can use quickly and easily.</p><p>The first technique I want to teach is the Two Breath Hypnosis Technique, which is an exercise to help us check in with ourselves, then unwind and relax. The techniques I am discussing help activate the Vagus Nerve, which is the super connector between our brain and our body. It has many functions, including helping us relax.  Splashing cold water on your face triggers this relaxation response.  We can also activate the Vagus Nerve by humming loudly or chanting. When stressed, we often take shallow breaths, but by taking big deep breaths we can help our bodies relax. Today I'm going to talk about each part of the mind, the protective functions and how hypnosis can help you.</p><p>The Unconscious Mind controls your autonomic nervous system, it is responsible for all of your bodily functions that you don't even think about. I'll talk about how it's possible to retrain the mind using hypnosis to help with issues like anxiety. </p><p>The Subconscious Mind is the part of your mind that holds who you are, all your habits, behaviors and even your personality. Listen in to hear how hypnosis can be used to quickly form new thought patterns in the subconscious mind. </p><p>The Conscious Mind thinks and focuses on the present moment, it's what you are thinking about right now. If you are working through a math problem, you are using your conscious mind.  Quieting the conscious mind, so you can access the subconscious mind is why hypnosis works so well. </p><p>Information is communicated between the conscious and subconscious mind by going through the Critical Factor.  The critical factor is like a gatekeeper to our habits and beliefs. Information has to be accepted by the critical factor to become a belief.
