Everyday Dope with Kristin Cafagno Smith

Kristin Smith grew up in Atlanta and always wanted to be a teacher. She graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Business, majoring in Management and Minoring in Accounting. She started out in office management for a small law firm which led to her transitioning to a career as a paralegal. Even practicing in a field she loved, she still desired to teach so she volunteered through Hands On Atlanta where she worked with students at Whitefoord Elementary School. She and her husband moved from Atlanta to Huntsville, Alabama twenty years ago and she continued volunteering with local school children. Years before the birth of her only child, Kristin started to research the option of homeschooling. With the birth of her only child in 2004, Kristin and her husband began to seriously consider the idea. Excited about the numerous opportunities homeschooling provided - including satisfying Kristin’s long desire to educate - the family committed to the homeschool journey. Kristin and her daughter attended several cooperatives over the years in which Kristin had the chance to teach and her daughter had the experience to learn in an environment more like a traditional classroom. Many of these other homeschooling families continued to seek out Kristin’s classes and, in 2017, Kristin hosted the first classes for homeschoolers out of her home. She led an all girls team to compete in Mock Trial at the state level through Alabama Youth in Government in 2018. In 2019, Kristin and a small group studying Alabama History were preparing to celebrate Alabama’s bicentennial. Through planning the lunch menu, they realized that Alabama had never designated an official state vegetable. Kristin and this group of students started a state-wide campaign and, in 2021, stood on the steps of the Alabama state Capitol with several state senators, the speaker of the House of Representatives, several state representatives, and members of the Alabama Farmers Association as the governor signed the legislation proposed by Kristin’s students designating the sweet potato as the state’s vegetable. Kristin has become a true leader in the homeschooling community and continues to teach. Kristin’s daughter is a senior this year and will be attending college in the fall 2022. Kristin’s desire is to continue to teach and mentor other families through their homeschooling journeys.

<itunes:summary>Yolanda Lenore Judge, affectionately known as Nora, is a Kingdom Messenger. As
an author, singer, and songwriter Yolanda uses words to effectively communicate
the gospel of Jesus Christ. She is currently in Ministerial Training at Connect
Church in Waldorf, Maryland where she serves as Worship Leader and Church
Administrator. Yolanda received a BA in Experimental Psychology from University
of South Carolina in 2002. She is currently enrolled in Waldorf School of the Bible,
Waldorf, MD and Repair the Altar School of Prayer and Deliverance, Atlanta, GA.
As a child, Yolanda found her voice as she participated in various choirs in her
hometown, Pamplico, South Carolina and surrounding communities. There she
realized music would connect her to people and more importantly, to God. As life
progressed, she also learned she has a niche with writing narratives.
Using her childhood nickname, Nora, Yolanda released her first vocal single,
Anyway in the spring of 2020. It is also the title track of her new EP. The EP
(Extended Play) Project, Anyway was released September 2021. Anyway (EP) is
the accompaniment to her debut book REGARDLESS. Although both can be
enjoyed separately, the pair solidifies a journey of receiving, accepting, and
celebrating the love of God.
Yolanda resides in Maryland with her son, A. Kaleb Brown. Yolanda is the owner
of ARMS Contracting LLC. It is a consulting and construction firm. She is also the
founder of The Appointed Life.
The Appointed Life is a ministry focused on those separated or disengaged as it
pertains to a relationship with Christ. She believes everyone should know that
they are loved abundantly and be given the opportunity to experience that love
here on earth through a relationship with God. Yolanda is praying for the
revelation stated in 1 Kings 18:36-37; that people will come to know God and
know that every work produced from The Appointed Life is done in obedience to
His word.

With so much social discord and the lack of tools, resources and knowledge readily available for the black community especially black owned businesses, Gabe helped start a company named “I Am Black Business” in 2014 with 3 brilliant brothers in CEO/President Joseph Guster, COO Lee Lewis, and CFO Mike Twum, where Gabe serves as CTO.
The vision behind “I Am Black Business” was more than starting a company, it was to start a movement, for a platform that spotlights and highlights Black Owned businesses that you can support in your communities and help circulate the Black dollar and spending power in our community.
Since then I Am Black business has grown to partner with various Black Chambers of Commerce as well as magazines, affiliates and other mediums.
In addition to making strides in the Black Tech Space, Gabe also produces music under his alias Magic Notes drawing on his passion and love of music and his training from the same performing arts school that produced legends like Jasmine Guy, Raven Simone and many others. Helming from East Atlanta, Gabe plans to continue the efforts with his team @ I Am Black Business on providing tools and knowledge to black business owners on the power of technology and give them a tool that will help them improve their business reach and profitability.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>C.J. Stewart is an Atlanta native, a former Chicago Cubs outfielder and an Amazon #1 Best Selling Author (Living To L.E.A.D.: A Story of Passion, Purpose and Grit). He has earned the recognition of being one of the top baseball player development professionals in the country. As the founder and CEO of Diamond Directors, Stewart has achieved unmatched success in the player development industry. He has over 22 years of experience and his firm has developed some of the game’s top amateur, collegiate and professional players. Stewart’s impressive client list includes Jason Heyward (Chicago Cubs), Dexter Fowler (St. Louis Cardinals), Andrew Jones (former Atlanta Brave), Peter Alonso (NY Mets), Kyle Lewis (Seattle Mariners), and Andrew McCutchen (San Francisco Giants).

Stewart grew up in one of Atlanta’s most dangerous apartment complexes, Hollywood Brooks, located on Hollywood Road. His story is a perfect example of the phrase, ‘where you start doesn’t determine where you finish’. Although statistically the odds were stacked against him, Stewart used the sport of baseball to overcome statistics and become a compassionate, engaged member of society. Through the help of kind strangers in his community, he was able to take his love for the game from John A. White Park all the way to Wrigley Field when the Chicago Cubs drafted him, not once, but twice in 1994 and 1996.

Now Stewart and his wife Kelli are doing the same for inner city youth in Atlanta through their non-profit organization, L.E.A.D. (Launch, Expose, Advise, Direct). L.E.A.D.’s mission is to empower an at-risk generation to lead and transform their city so they can become Ambassadors who lead Atlanta to lead the world. Stewart is providing a way for deserving inner-city youth to transform communities through baseball. For young men who complete L.E.A.D.’s Ambassador program, 100% have graduated from high school, 93% have enrolled into college, 90% have received college scholarship opportunities and 14% have entered the military or workforce. Stewart’s way of saying ‘Thank you!’ to those who helped him stay on the right path is to pay his blessing forward and create empowering opportunities for Atlanta youth today and into the future.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Joe Stu is originally from Bronx, NY, and moved down to Atlanta, GA to attend college. Upon graduating Clark Atlanta University, his passion propelled him to take Atlanta’s open mic circuit by siege.
In Atlanta, Stu was exposed to MCs from all over the nation which influenced his approach to music. He has released a steady stream of projects becoming a fixture in Atlanta’s underground hip hop scene. The genre's golden era influenced Stu through EPMD, A Tribe Called Quest, Ras Kass, Hieroglyphics, Organized Konfusion, Krs-One, Dungeon Family, Wu-Tang and many more. Although Joe can be called a conscience rapper, his voice and aggression to attack beats can easily fool the average listener. touches on everything from racial tension to family struggles to plain straight up lyrical bombardment.
As a self-described blue-collar rapper, Joe Stu's music is relatable and catered to hip hop fans paying back student loans. He has opened up for seminal artist such as Mobb Deep, Brand Nubian, and Naughty By Nature. Joe Stu is a renaissance man who can hold his own in any artistic medium, which is what makes his music so effervescent and versatile. His experience as a published tattoo artist and illustrator have also sharpened his visual writing style.
With over three years of experience, Stu often utilizes his MC skills as a Visual Art educator for Atlanta public schools. Currently, Stu is an African-American studies graduate student at Clark Atlanta University. His aim is to link the principles of hip hop with education in order to reach younger generations through academic mentorship. </itunes:summary>

Shortly after graduating from AAMU, Tara was an Engineering intern with the Department of Energy in New Orleans, LA. traveling to various petroleum storage sites and analyzing power related issues with the relay system within the substations.
