As the investigation heats up, Letecia hits the road in a rental van, driving cross country with her teenage daughter to start a new life. Letecia is arrested on March 2, 2020, in Myrtle Beach, SC and charged with Gannon's death. On March 17th, maintenance workers find Gannon's remains in a suitcase under a bridge near Pensacola, FL- more than 1,300 miles away from his home.

Letecia begins to tell story after story- each more outrageous than the last. Letecia blames anyone and everyone- from the drug cartel to neighborhood workers, to sex traffickers- before finally pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial, which lasted 5 weeks, began in April of 2023, and each witness brought out wild new details that made the story even more unbelievable.

In May of 2016, a man is gunned down in the street walking home from a concert in the park. Louisville rapper Brice Rhodes shoots the man thinking there is a bounty on his head, but doesn't realize he has the wrong guy. Teen brothers Larry and Maurice, only 14 and 16 years old, were with Rhodes at the time. When Rhodes gets word the boys may have told their family about the murder, he kills them in such a brutal way that he became known as one of Louisville's most notorious criminals in recent years. Rhodes courtroom antics made headlines when he taunted the boys' mother in court, laughing at her and blowing her kisses. He threatened to kill the judge, spat on his lawyer, attacked other inmates in jail, as well as multiple corrections officers. His antics became so bad that he was forced to wear a stun cuff during trial. The details of this case are both heartbreaking and outrageous. This is the story of 14-year-old Larry Ordway, his brother 16-year-old Maurice “Reece” Gordon, and 40 year old father of two Christopher Jones, and the trial of Brice Rhodes.

Nine months later, Doug meets Ashley Byers at a political fundraiser. After only 13 days, the 54 year old businessman marries the 24 year old former ballerina, during a secret ceremony in Charleston, South Carolina.

Together they founded American National Ballet company, but after less than a year of marriage, Ashley walked out on Doug, and the company, on the day it was set to launch.

Less than one year together resulted in three years of court and custody battles. There were allegations of domestic violence, stalking, child abuse, and even poisoning. In September of 2020, Doug was at Ashley's mom's house, helping load a U-Haul to move across country, when Ashley shot and killed him. She claimed self-defense, though she had no injuries and said Doug had never hit her before. Was this self-defense in a toxic relationship, or a murder over custody battle?

Three young men found executed at the gates of a remote quarry in Wisconsin. Police had no suspects and no leads, until a woman walks into the Sheriff's office and says not only does she have information, but she drove the victims there and witnessed the whole thing.

One of the largest blizzards in Boston history was moving in, causing less than ideal conditions for a search. The first search, with only a couple of inches of snowfall on the ground and daylight working in their favor, turned up broken cocktail glass pieces and 6 drops of frozen blood. SERT team comes in 12 hours later, after 2 feet of snow has fallen and the sun has set, and they suddenly find pieces of Karen’s taillight AND John’s missing shoe. Is this coincidence? Or conspiracy?

It’s one of the most polarizing cases in true crime right now. A 16 year veteran of the Boston Police Department, left to die in one of the biggest blizzards in Massachusetts history. Prosecution has charged his girlfriend, 42 year old Karen Read, with his murder, claiming she hit him with her car during a fight and left him to die in the cold. The defense says Read is being framed, set up to take the fall by one of the most powerful families in this Boston suburb- all to protect one of their own.

There are discrepancies in statements, missing camera footage, and deep family ties to everyone from the lead investigator, to the attorney general’s office, to the judge. With every new piece of evidence, a new controversy arises.

In episode one, we will do an introduction to this case, paying attention to the timeline and the immediate discrepancies in statements and court documents. We will look at the theories presented by both sides, along with the evidence that supports and contradicts it. We will dig into what it is about this case that has social media so split, and why each side is so passionate in their beliefs. 13 year old Cristina Pangalagan was left in a hot car in August in Colleton South Carolina for more than five hours, resulting in her death. Her mom, Rita, had been named 2014 Teacher of the Year in Walterboro’s Black Street Early Education Center. Rita said she went to her boyfriend Larry’s house and accidentally left Cristina in the car. Video obtained from Larry’s house, however, showed that they had taken Cristina in the house with them, then took her back out to the car and left her there for hours, even leaving the house in another car and returning home later.

Cristina was born with severe intellectual and physical disabilities that left her unable to verbally communicate, and she was confined to a wheelchair, leaving her unable to remove herself from the hot car.

Now Rita Pangalangan and her boyfriend Larry King will stand trial in Judge Clifton Newman’s courtroom for Cristina’s death.

It's finally time for the state to present its case against Letecia- but changing her plea from "Not Guilty" to "Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity", changes EVERYTHING. The prosecution no longer has to prove Letecia murdered Gannon, they have to prove she was sane when she did it. During trial, Al presents an emotional testimony, the defense throws Letecia's daughter Harley under the bus, and some major bombshells are dropped in an interview Letecia did with a doctor. Plus, Letecia's bad courtroom behavior frustrates the judge, the prosecutors, and the jury.

In January of 2020 11-year-old Gannon Stauch is reported missing by his stepmother Letecia in Colorado Springs, CO, sparking a massive search effort involving volunteers, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. As the community searches for signs of the missing child, police, and Gannon's father Al, turn their attention to the bizarre behavior of stepmom Letecia, who was the last person to see him alive.

As the investigation heats up, Letecia hits the road in a rental van, driving cross country with her teenage daughter to start a new life. Letecia is arrested on March 2, 2020, in Myrtle Beach, SC and charged with Gannon's death. On March 17th, maintenance workers find Gannon's remains in a suitcase under a bridge near Pensacola, FL- more than 1,300 miles away from his home.

Letecia begins to tell story after story- each more outrageous than the last. Letecia blames anyone and everyone- from the drug cartel to neighborhood workers, to sex traffickers- before finally pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial, which lasted 5 weeks, began in April of 2023, and each witness brought out wild new details that made the story even more unbelievable.

Part 3: Suspect

Letecia's bizarre behavior starts to raise some eyebrows in the community, with the police, and with Al. A search of the Stauch home and Gannon's room paints a gruesome picture, and when police get the data back from Letecia's phone, they're shocked to see her search history. As all eyes begin to look at Letecia, Letecia takes Harley and heads toward the other side of the country.

In January of 2020 11-year-old Gannon Stauch is reported missing by his stepmother Letecia in Colorado Springs, CO, sparking a massive search effort involving volunteers, as well as multiple law enforcement agencies. As the community searches for signs of the missing child, police, and Gannon's father Al, turn their attention to the bizarre behavior of stepmom Letecia, who was the last person to see him alive.

As the investigation heats up, Letecia hits the road in a rental van, driving cross country with her teenage daughter to start a new life. Letecia is arrested on March 2, 2020, in Myrtle Beach, SC and charged with Gannon's death. On March 17th, maintenance workers find Gannon's remains in a suitcase under a bridge near Pensacola, FL- more than 1,300 miles away from his home.

Letecia begins to tell story after story- each more outrageous than the last. Letecia blames anyone and everyone- from the drug cartel to neighborhood workers, to sex traffickers- before finally pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. The trial, which lasted 5 weeks, began in April of 2023, and each witness brought out wild new details that made the story even more unbelievable.

In this seven-part series, we will walk through the background of this blended family, the search for Gannon, what happened when Letecia went on the run, her eventual arrest, and the bizarre trial that lit social media on fire.
