47: From Freelancer to Founder: Scaling Through Trust, Not Control

She left a stable role to freelance without a safety net, trusting not that it would work, but that she could handle whatever came next.

In this episode, Jillian Vorce talks with Penn Camille Lat about the shift from freelancer to founder and what it takes to build a relationship-driven business.

What began as supporting a single startup evolved into co-founding Virtua Solutions Outsourcing and leading a team of more than 40 professionals serving SaaS companies and startups globally.

They explore confidence without guarantees, leadership beyond control, and how sustainable growth is built through trust, referrals, and intentional relationships. Penn also shares how her definition of success evolved from simply supporting her own family to carrying responsibility for the livelihoods and well-being of the people she leads.

46: Beyond Your Bubble: Why Perspective and Relationships Drive Real Growth

Most of us spend most of our time with people who are mostly like us. While that familiarity can feel comfortable, it often reinforces the same thinking and limits new perspective.

In this episode, Jillian Vorce challenges the short-sighted focus on networking to “get” and explores why real opportunity often lives below the surface. She unpacks the importance of intentionally expanding your ecosystem, investing before withdrawing, and creating relationships that can withstand bumpy terrain. If you’re recalibrating your business or hungry for perspective beyond your usual bubble, this conversation invites you to rethink what kind of network you’re building.

40: When Life Forces a Pause: Health, Alignment, and Carrying the Right Things Into the New Year

In this solo episode, I open up about a challenging health journey that forced me to slow down and reconsider how I was showing up in my work and life. I share what happened when I chose honesty and vulnerability with the One Handshake community and how their response became one of the most grounding and affirming experiences of the year.

We talk about permission: permission to pause, to let go of what no longer aligns, and to stop chasing “catching up.” As we head into a new year, this episode is an invitation to lead with health, build relationships rooted in alignment, and move forward with intention. Season 2 is coming, and I’m grateful to step into it together.

If you want in on some of that love and collaboration, you’re invited to explore the OH community - maybe check out an event or two.

Mentioned in the Episode:

Dorien Morin-van Dam’s post

Brooke Sellas’s post

35: The Space Between: Where Authenticity Meets Boundaries

Authenticity and boundaries both matter, but what happens when honoring one seems to strain the other?

In this episode, Jillian unpacks that friction and offers grounded strategies to navigate it. She shares real-life scenarios, like how to respond when someone asks to "pick your brain," what to say when a collaboration doesn’t align, and how to pause before saying yes too quickly.

You’ll also hear about creating a realistic weekly schedule based on your actual energy and capacity, not just your ambition. If you’ve ever struggled with over-giving, over-promising, or feeling guilty for saying no, this conversation will leave you with clarity, language, and tools you can use right away.

If you could use support around topics like exercising boundaries while building business authentically, you’re invited to check out the OneHandshake community; these are topics we discuss and host workshops, strategy sessions, and dialogues around.

If you enjoyed this episode, I’d love to know! Either leave a review or share your feedback via the form link

Also mentioned in this episode, Petra Fisher’s episode: Building Connections That Count: Petra Fisher on LinkedIn, Visibility, and Being Unapologetically You.

Check it out here.

This episode walks through what to do when that nudge becomes a shove, whether due to layoffs, client loss, or internal misalignment.

Instead of jumping straight to job boards and resume updates, host Jillian Vorce offers a more intentional approach: clarify your ideal scenario, align your passions with your professional skills, and build meaningful connections through authentic outreach.

Jillian also shares how to research industries and leaders creatively - through podcasts, LinkedIn, and direct engagement - and highlights tools from her book 20/20 Mind Sight to help listeners reflect and get clear on what they truly want.
