Paul Edelblut Educates Us on AI’s Use in Export

We’re back – finally - for year 7 of Export Stories Podcast. I’m pinching myself. Thank you for joining us.

I was very determined that our first episode of 2025 would be about AI and exports. I found the perfect guest for a ‘deep dive’ discussion. He is Paul Edelblut, Vice President of Global Operations for Vantage Labs. We are so honored to have Paul join us. You’ll hear the voluminous questions that I had for Paul, and the ease in which he is able to discuss the technology and its relevance to the export community. And, of course, he shared some fascinating stories with us.

I hope you enjoy this episode. After you’ve listened, we would love to hear your thoughts and comments, which you can post at https://www.exportstoriespodcast.com/ or on our Facebook or LinkedIn pages.

Landaira and Waste-to-Energy – An Export Story We Need to Talk About

Today’s episode of Export Stories Podcast 2022 is a subject I’m excited to talk about with my guest, Vincent Harkins, CFO of Landaira, Inc.. I’ve been following waste-to-energy for a long time. But what does waste-to-energy really mean? Suppose you could take garbage, refuse, unwanted rubbish and muck, and, instead of burying it in the ground, you turned it into clean energy? He and I had a fascinating discussion about global infrastructure, both in the U.S. and abroad. We talked about ships and ports and railroads and inland waterways. What didn’t we cover? And maybe the conversation got a tiny bit wonky at times, but that’s what makes this episode so compelling.</itunes:summary>

Bill Courtney: Entrepreneur, Hardwood Exporter, Author, and Oh Yeah, Was Part of An Oscar Winning Documentary

Listening to Bill talk about how he started up his export business is like a mini-master class in how commodity exporting works. We had a great, and sometimes provocative conversation about current markets, which I happily encouraged. For example, issues affecting trade between the U.S. and China hold a position that is front and center in today’s news and affect all of us. It was a natural subject for Bill and I to discuss.

Once you hear the podcast, you will understand why Bill has become a popular inspirational speaker. We touched upon his involvement in the film Undefeated because it was a film that spoke to me.

Join us for our second podcast with our guest, the Rev. David Spann. As a Director of several Department of Commerce Export Assistance Centers across the U.S., David has some fascinating stories to tell about a diverse array of common and not-so-common U.S. export products. David is an authority on the ins and outs of opening global markets for small- to medium-sized U.S. companies. I should know; he supported my export management business for many years.

David grew up in Arkansas, where he graduated from Arkansas State University with a BA in Political Science and then earned a J.D. from the University of Arkansas. David began his career working for an Economic Development District in Hot Springs, Arkansas. From there he joined the U.S. Department of Commerce with progressive assignments in Little Rock, New Orleans, Seattle, and then Memphis. Today, David lives the pastoral life (literally – he currently serves as Associate Pastor at First Church of the Nazarene in Athens, TN) with his wife of 20 years, Cynthia.

<itunes:subtitle>Join us for our second podcast with our guest, the Rev.
