    <title>It's A Look w/ Fredia &amp; Jena Dominique</title>
<description>The It’s A Look podcast presents fresh and knowledgeable views on the people and places you may know but not know much about. Join Fredia and Jena for a monthly dose of comedy and curiosity through a curated collection of candid interviews, sonic experiences, and live podcasting shows.

Fredia’s expertise within the show is laughter and making heavier topics more digestible. Jena drops the insightful gems, the questions that expand your perspective. Before you hear anything else, you hear their friendship. As a duo, F+J are tastemakers who have their freshly manicured nails set on the pulse of humanity and what holds us together.

At its core, It’s A Look is historic. It’s what Jena’s mom and Fredia’s grandmother didn’t do. It’s bigger than both of them. It’s what they saw that you didn’t-- A Look.

It’s A Look is produced by three bad ass brown women- Fredia, Jena, and Sami Hiromi. Music by Jarin Tindall. Videography by Aquavis Warfield. It’s A Look branding and website design by Amy Jasinki.</description>

<itunes:summary>Volume 22 of the It’s A Look Podcast couldn’t drop at a more opportune time than in the midst of #NYFW2020. The episode itself is bedazzled with a pop, pizzaz, and a point of view you can only gain from conversing with three luxury fashion entrepreneurs.

In this episode, hosts Fredia (@yesfredia) &amp; Jena (@jena_dominique) sat at the hem of CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Winner Christopher John Rogers (CJR). CJR most recently stunned audiences with his New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 collection which has been covered by the likes of Vogue and The Cut. If you have a taste for silhouettes, sensation, and a sense of color, you, too, will covet the Christopher John Rogers collection.

The conversation was accompanied by the owner of the McMullen boutique, Sherri McMullen- whose flagship location in Oakland, California is showcasing Christopher John Rogers SS2020 collection. Lastly, but certainly not least Digital Creator and Chief Lover of All the Pretty Birds, Tamu McPherson was on the mic.

The conversation is laced with stories about our guest’s humble introductions to the fashion industry, the evolution of the Christopher John Rogers eponymous line, and why Oakland is a luxury fashion destination.

In the case of It’s A Look, working with a friend is our meal ticket to success. We don’t say that because it’s easy, we say it because if you can’t work with your friends, who can you work with?

Volume 16 is an honest look into the birth of It’s A Look and the methods we practice to keep our baby alive.

We know we make it look easy, but we can assure you, our partnership is intentional, purposeful, and most importantly necessary. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The consensual sex industry is one of the oldest industries in the world. The act of women and men consensually exchanging their bodies for payment is perhaps as old as the evolution of our own genitalia. Despite that historical observation, the individuals we know today, who consensually decide to use their bodies for sex, are some of the most disrespected and unprotected individuals in society.

In this volume of It’s A look, we sit down with documentarian, photographer, and sex worker ally Rachel Lena Esterline, and in doing so are able to see behind her lens on sex work in the Bay Area. Viewer discretion is advised as we delve deep into, the role of sex work in the feminist agenda, how U.S. legislation is negatively impacting sex workers, and what we can all learn from sex workers.

November 8-11, 2018 Afrotech returned to San Francisco for another year. Fredia and Jena made the mandatory mission across the Bay Bridge to The Palace of Fine Arts to join 3,998 other black folks for the biggest and blackest tech conference the world’s ever seen. Afrotech was an ocean of community, a tidal wave of black success. Both hosts were mesmerized by the abundance of folks who flew in from around the world: CEO’s, coders, entrepreneurs, investors, designers, and innovators packed the venue from wall to wall.

<itunes:summary>For the season II finale of It's A Look, Fredia and Jena sat down with Marcus Carey, co-founder, of Homage Hospitality Group. Following the recent coverage of Homage in RollingOut, The Root, and the ShadeRoom, it's incredibly exciting to have 1/2 of the duo in studio.

Homage Hospitality, founded in 2016, is on course to open a series of hotels around the country. Carey and co-founder Damon Lawrence "pride themselves on creating a culturally significant hotel experience," focusing on opening properties inspired by and located in historically black cities being impacted by gentrification (Rolling Out). Their first property, 'The Moor,' opened in New Orleans during Essence Festival weekend. A couplet of others are planned to open in Oakland 2019 and potentially Detroit, Washington D.C. and Brooklyn.

We sat down with Marcus Carey to talk about what it means to create a product for the culture, transferring to a growth mindset, and how he and Lawrence built Homage from the ground up. Further, we discussed securing the bag, choosing the entrepreneurship path, and why energy is so important when choosing a co-founder.

Carey, a Detroit native, didn't hold much back as we talked about his humble Burlington Coat Factory beginnings, his time at Howard University, and why we'll be seeing a Homage Hotel one day on the moon.</itunes:summary>

During this healing conversation F+J were stricken with Adereni's approach to joy, her tactics for radical self accountability, and "how to live with your inner roommate" a term Adereni selects from Michael A. Singer's book The Untethered Soul.

Laugh and growth with us as Adereni shares her tips and tricks on: empowering your best self to counteract your "inner roommate", traveling alone and the joys of the #memoon, and assessing your own personal alignment on a regular basis. </itunes:summary>
