Its been a rough summer for RBTE, Rob addresses the lack of content and the state of RBTE. BUUUUT  that does not mean we cant have an episode here and have some fun before summer completely goes away, right?!

It's Christmas time again already?!! Where has this year gone. Its be a rough year scheduling wise for the podcast, so right up front we would like to apologize for the lack of episodes this year. 2025 should be a much better year for the show!

50 years... let that sink in. Your parents or grandparents tuning 50, or their 50th wedding anniversary are milestones that people celebrate. When its music or a movie, somehow that seem bigger or it's something that you can't wrap your head around> We say things like "I can't believe that is the 50th anniversary of that! It's even rare when is music and the band is still together (ok in some form i get it haha) touring the world. KISS has been a band for 50 years last year in 2023, now their first album at the time you are reading this has just turned 50... yours truly (Rob) just turned 50 himself. I am older than this album by 8 days. Nick is 7 years older than the band to put it into perspective. This is a big event. It all started with this album! Whatever era, lineup, album, song, or member is your favorite... none of it would happen without this album! Nick, Nikko & Rob will take you through track by track of this historic... and kinda slow album haha.

PSYCHO CIRCUS (25th Anniversary) 

After the success of the 1996 Alive Worldwide Reunion Tour, everyone asked one question "what's next?"   Surely the band would record a new album, and they did just that... well kinda.  In 1998, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss entered the studio to record their first album together since 1979's Dynasty.  Much like Dynasty, Ace and Peter would practically appear on the album in name only, with the exception of Peter only playing drums on one track and singing lead vocals two.  Ace only played guitar on two tracks and sang on 2 tracks.  The remaining drum and guitar tracks were played by Kevin Valentine and future KISS lead guitarist, Tommy Thayer, both uncredited.  Most of these decisions were made by producer, Bruce Fairbairn.

On this episode, Nick, Nikko, and Rob discuss the 25th Anniversary of Psycho Circus.  Taking off the KISS goggles and ignoring the drama in the recording studio, is there a solid KISS album underneath the tracks of Psycho Circus or this just KISStory repeating itself?  So, take off the drama blinders, raise your glasses and get ready to toast the anniversary of Psycho Circus...welcome to the show!

Episode 49:  Gene Simmons 1978 Solo Album

It’s September, so you know what that means… we are reviewing another ’78 solo album.  This year we are looking at the Demon himself, Mr. Gene Simmons. How does Gene’s album compare to the previous album by Ace?  Is the album chuck full of the standard ‘Demon’ songs like ‘God of Thunder’, ‘Calling Dr. Love’, ‘Love ‘Em Leave ‘Em’, or ‘Duece’?  Or is this album a reflection of who Gene is as a person, musician, and star?  Nick, Nikko, and Rob take an in-depth look at the face of KISS, or should we say, the man of a thousand faces.  Like all the other solo albums, Gene’s album was released on September 18th, 1978.

After we look at the album, we will make our KISS list, and ‘The 9’ will make an appearance. We will each pick three songs to compile later for a ‘best of’ solo album compilation.  So, let’s ‘Wish Upon a Star’ at the ‘Holiday Inn’ and pray we don’t go ‘Burnin’ Up With Fever’ with ‘Mr. Make Believe’.

As we like to do from time to time on the show is to take a look at some of the other bands/artist that have opened for KISS over the years, as a way to talk about other bands on the show. Since this is a Rosemont episode, we thought it would be cool to talk about the bands we have seen at the various KISS concerts over the years. The RTR panel has returned, Xander, Brant and Emily, but as it happens, we are missing a few people again on this show... our very own Nick and Nikko! Nikko got stuck at work and Nick got called back to work. The Caruso's are in high demand! They gave us their blessing to keep the show rolling. The episode is at the heart of RBTE. Comic books! That is how this whole podcast was started. The three of us were doing a round table guest spot on another podcast, we did not know each other well at the time, but in the Zoom call screen Rob saw Nikko in a KISS t-shirt... and the rest is KISStory.

In 1977 right on the heel of KISS' 6th studio album Love Gun, KISS teamed up with Stan Lee and the folks at Marvel comics to release on June 21st The Marvel Comics Super Special Vol 1 KISS! The glorious 64-page comic was dripping with the bands very one blood... as we were told by the font cover! There was also Spider-Man, Captain Americ and more! The worlds were about to collide, comics and music! Nick, Nikko and Rob take a look at this very hard to find comic, and one that is sought after by comic book collectors and KISS fans alike! It's 1977, we have Star Wars, comic books and KISS... this is what dreams are made of and what made many people fans of KISS!!

Assembling any band takes work and time, with podcasting it's the same. Coordinating three schedules sometimes is tricky 5 it's well you know... it takes time. We are all here! All three podcasts are finally all "here." From KISS Army Things we have Xander, from In My Head we have Brant... and of course Nick, Nikko and Rob from RBTE. 

This episode we ask at a few questions amongst everyone. Why did you choose the show in Rosemont?  Have you seen shows in Chicago before? What are you looking to get out of you finale KISS concert?

In addition, the group also takes a look back at the first KISS concert in Rosemont at the Rosemont Horizon (now called The Allstate Arena) during the Reunion Tour of 1996/97. This was also Nick Caruso's first KISS concert. This has an extra special meaning for him as this arena was his first and will be his last KISS concert. Buckel in for the next 6 months we as will be headed towards Rosemont! Here, we... go!

On this episode Nick, Nikko, and Rob welcome Todd Kerns to RBTE! Todd has had as they say what rock and roll dreams are made of! Staring with is early days Canada honing his craft on bass and guitar and developing his killer pipes Todd saw the rock and roll bat-signal if you will at an early age. Stating out in some of his early bands like Age of Electric in 1989 with their debate album  Make a Pest a Pet! Various other project would come, but in 2007 he would help form The Sin City Sinners. It would't be long until Slash from Guns N' Roses would come knocking and Todd would find himself in one of the hottest acts in the world in Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators releasing four studio albums. in 2017 another guitarist would be at Todd's door in the form of Bruce Kulick formerly of KISS. Todd would join Brent Fitz (also from Slash and Bruce's former band Union) with Zack Throne as on of the top bands to not miss on the KISS Kruise every year since 2017. Todd flawlessly handles all of the Paul Stanly vocals! He also has a Canadian cover band called Toque plus has has two new bands of original material in Minefield and most recently Heroes and Monsters with Will Hunt on drums and Stef Burns on guitar! Creatures of The Night 40th Annivesarty Box Set: Disk 4 & 5 - Creatures Tour Live '82/ '83

The promotion tour is over and the 100 city tour for Creatures of the Night  is about to start. The band is ready to take the stage, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent....? Who is that? And where is Ace.... is that Ace and he is wearing new make up? Ace Frehely has left the band and the Ank Warrior  has taken his place, affixed with a gold Ank gold looking cross on his forehead. In support of their 10th  studio album and their 10th Annivesary. Its been three years since the band has taken the stage. Would the fans return after the massive misstep that was The Elder. Also keeping in mind that two new members have joined the group. The tour would also be met with religious protest an numerous venues across the tour as well. Would the new album and tour be enough to show that KISS was back... or would something drastic need to happen?

A big part of any major KISS fans collection are bootlegs. 2022 saw some major leaks this year, it rekindled the bootleg discussion on the show. The latter part of 2022 saw the "release" if you will of a soundboard recording that most fans were not aware of. Where it came from we do not know but what we got from this set was amazing look at the tour! Atlanta Georgia at the Omni on June 30th 1979 on the Dynasty tour. This this the peek of the bands popularity and the drop that is about to happen inside and outside of the band. In this episode Nick, Nikko & Rob discuss Atlanta, GA The Omni 1979 and The Dynasty tour!

KISS Off The Soundboard: Des Moines 1977

The Year 1977,  KISS is on it's ALIVE II tour and makes a stop in Des Moines Iowa!?..... that's where we pick up the latest Off The Soundboard album. This is fourth in the series and the second in a row featuring the classic lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, the last one being Donington 1996. This is KISS in its prime and dare we say at it peak in 1977.  KISS is everywhere and on all types of merchandise TV appearances, the radio and on the edge of collapse if they are not careful. This is a band that is at the top of it's game and can do no wrong. Is that what this release shows? How does it sound.. and is it the best of the series so far? Nick, Nikko, and Rob answer all these questions and more. The three generations of KISS fans dig in to what is going to be a special Off The Soundboard album!

KISS released their 21st album on September 21st 1987. Paul and Gene worked with the hot producer at the time Ron Nevison for the next chapter of the band. Crazy Night would bring a pop/rock/metal sound for this album. More akin to 1980's Unmasked album but with a heavy keyboard presence.  Speaking of presence, Gene's was almost nonexistent. Gene was spending more time in Hollywood leaving the reigns to Paul and Ron. Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick delivered more on this album with Gene's on again off schedule. The result, a Platinum album for the band  and one that was on heavy rotation at MTV. 

On this episode Nick, Nikko & Rob look back at the album and review song by song, plus they pick their 9 as usual. How about we go back to 1987, push play on the cassette deck and as Paul would say "if life is a radio, turn it up to 10!"  Let's celebrate 35 years of Crazy Night!

In an effort to keep Ace Frehley and Peter Criss from exiting the band in early 1978 pursue solo careers.  Gene, Paul and band manager Bill Aucoin said that each member should do just that, record KISS solo albums. Each album would be a KISS solo album where each member would be the center star of their own direction and music and would be in complete control, all while still being under the umbrella od KISS.

September 18th 1978 would see the release of 4 KISS albums at the same time on the same day. Paul Stanley, Peter Criss, Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley. The ladder is where we start this episode. Each September on the podcast Nick, Nikko, & Rob will look at one of the solo albums and review it. They are joined by In My Head KISS YouTube Podcast host Brant Meredith  to discuss and review the solo album that many KISS fans say is the best of the four. The Opening Act: Def Leppard  - Diamond Star Halos

Just 10 episodes ago we last visited Def Leppard by celebrating the 30th Anniversary of 1992's Adrenalize. Little did we know we would  do another Opening Act segment again so soon with Lep, but here we are. Def Leppard released their 12th studio album Diamond Star Halos on May 27th 2022. Written while in lock down because of the pandemic  the band did the entire album all remotely and separately a first for the band. What resulted are 15 track that cover a wide rage while retaining what makes the band what they are. What to Nick, Nikko & Rob think? KISS OFF THE SOUNDBOARD: Donington 1996

In the third installment in the Off The Soundboard series take us back to 1996 and the Reunion tour was in full swing. This also marks the first release in the series to feature the original band line up of Gene, Ace, Peter, & Paul KISS took a small break from the US leg of the tour in August and the band heads to the Monsters of Rock Festival to headline Donington! The Reunion Tour being a highlight for Nick and Rob back in the day, the pair along with Nikko are transported back in time when the sky was the limit for the band. This is our 1 year Anniversary "episode"... kinda-sorta LOL. A proper one is coming. This however is a collection of discussions over the last year that did not make previous recorded episodes. 30 years ago May 19th 1992, KISS released their 16 studio album and 24th overall. Having suffer the tragic loss of their beloved drummer Eric Carr the year prior KISS was determined to get Revenge and get their heads back in the game. A new look for the band that was more akin to black and leather look of the past welcomed new member and drummer Eric Singer. Formally of Badlands, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and Paul Stanley's solo touring band to name a few joined the legendary band. Kulick, Simmons, Stanley and Singer sought out reclaim their rock metal roots with force. With producer Bob Ezrin at the help the hoped to achieve that admits the changing of the music landscape. Blazing guitars, ponding drums, with Stanley's soring vocal and the "return" of Gene as some might say. Gene was fully committed to the band fully with no outside projects pulling him away this time. he even grew a goatee to complete the look. This is the best look for the band post make up. would the album deliver? That's what we intend to discuss. Nick, Nikko,  & Rob break down the tracks on the album, the production and what makes this album worthy of the title... REVENGE. Happy 30th Anniversary!

His book takes you to his to his childhood home in the Vancouver suburb of Port Coquitlam, BC, Poco as the locals call it. The back drop and the driving force for Ron is of course KISS. KISS was and is not only in his blood it effected his surrounding and influenced his friends. The adventures he will take to acquire this KISS treasures will leave you pumping your fists and laughing, but will also experience the heartbreak of the adventures as well. On March 30 (in the UK) and her in the United States on March 31st 1992 Def Leppard released their 5th studio album Adrenalize! The album debuted at No. 1 on both the UK Albums Chart and, in the following week, on the U.S. Billboard 200. This would be the first album with out founding lead guitarist Steve Clark since his passing the year prior.  The band completed the album as a four piece and would make a worthy successor to 1987's Hysteria. Join Nick, Nikko & Rob as they close out this Opening Act segment for Def Leppard as look back 30 years and celebrate this milestone for band with Adrenalize! On March 15th 1976 KISS unleashed their magnum opus, an album that might as well be considered a greatest hits before it was even released. Destroyer was the album that KISS was looking for. An album that truly represented themselves as artists, it took what they were doing live and  finally captured that spirit on vinyl. With producer and song writer on the album Bob Ezrin brought out parts from each band members that they didn't know they had. 

This episode we look at the album as a whole. We look at each song track by track, we pick what other singles could have be used for radio, rank the album cover and the album with what has been done on the show so far. Part 3 of our look at the Super Deluxe Box  Set that is Destroyer 45th Anniversary.  On this episode Nick, Nikko and Rob take a look at the... well... you know. The Paris disk. It was 1989 and KISS' Hot In The Shade had been released for a few months and would find its way into Rob's hand through a classmate, and Rob was off on his journey with band and his love for this album. 

On this episode Rob, Nick and Nikko review and dissect the Hot In The Sade album and go track by track. 25 years ago in the summer of 1996 Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons reunited with Peter Criss and Ace Frehley for The Alive Worldwide Tour of 1996-1997. The idea of Ace and peter ever returning to the band was always met with a hard no from Paul and Gene. The 1995 MTV Unplugged performance changed all of that!
