Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted from high-quality ceramic material. They’re a popular choice in cosmetic dentistry for improving the appearance of teeth. These veneers are custom-designed to fit over the front surface of teeth, effectively concealing imperfections such as discoloration, misalignment, or gaps. In today's episode, we'll be discussing the recent celebrity smile news about Bruce Willis and his missing tooth.

Bruce Willis, the famous actor known for his roles in movies like Die Hard and Armageddon, has been making headlines recently because of his recent dementia diagnosis. However, footage of Bruce Willis’ 68th birthday celebration set off alarm bells after fans noticed that the star appeared to be missing a tooth in the video.

The touching clip had been posted by the 68-year-old’s ex-wife Demi Moore on Sunday.

While the whole family was in great spirits, some fans pointed out the actor appeared to be missing one of his front teeth.

One person wrote on Twitter: “Bruce is missing a tooth,” while another asked: “When did Bruce lose a tooth?

Others were happy to see Bruce surrounded by the love and support of his family, brushing off the comments from other users.

Another wrote: “That family is going through hell on earth right now, and we can’t even fathom what’s going on in Bruce’s mind. I think the tooth is irrelevant.”

As a dental professional, I couldn't help but wonder about the possible reasons behind his missing tooth.

One reason that comes to mind is the fact that people with dementia are more susceptible to dental problems due to reduced saliva production and difficulty following an oral hygiene routine. Tooth loss is also a common problem among older adults, with one in six Americans over the age of 65 lacking natural teeth, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Interestingly, recent research has found a link between tooth loss and an increased risk of dementia. A study conducted by researchers at New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing found that adults with more tooth loss had a 1.28 times higher risk of being diagnosed with dementia.

RHONJ's Frank Catania Reveals Brand-New Smile Transformation Thanks to Smile Texas!"

Frank Catania, one of the stars of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, recently underwent a smile transformation at Smile Texas in Houston, and he can't stop showing off his new pearly whites. The reality TV star took to Instagram to share his journey, revealing some behind-the-scenes details of the procedure with his followers. Smile Texas specializes in dental veneers, which are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front of teeth to correct issues like staining, spacing, chipping, or crookedness. In just two visits, the practice promises a bright, straight, natural-looking smile.

In his Instagram Story, Frank showed himself with several staff members who helped him through the process, and he returned for "part 2" of the transformation shortly after. The practice documented the final result in an Instagram video, which shows Frank's surprised and delighted reaction as he sees his teeth for the first time since the second half of the procedure.

Frank's new smile has left him in awe, and he couldn't be happier with the results. In the video, he gushes, "Oh my god! I love 'em... I have never in my life looked at my teeth and said, 'Wow.'" In today’s Celebrity Smile News, Harry Styles has added another accolade to his growing list of achievements after being crowned the winner of the "world's most attractive and impressive smile" by leading dentists. Veneers are a great way to improve the look of your smile. And if you have them, it's so important to take care of your veneers because it’s a huge investment. In New York City, veneers can cost anywhere between $2,000 to $4,000 per tooth. Most people get at least six veneers on the upper 6 front teeth; however, many people will enhance the whole mouth which will end up being about 20 veneers.  When you do the math, you quickly realize that this is an investment that you’ll want to protect at all costs! If you have dental veneers, it's important to make sure you're using the right toothpaste (and toothbrush) to protect them. 

In this podcast, we'll discuss some of the best toothpastes for cleaning your porcelain veneers and how they can help keep your smile looking its best for the long haul.  I'm super excited to have one of my dear friends and colleagues, Dr. Mina Kim (@DrMinaKim) join me in this podcast episode.
