In a Stanley Cup Final already packed with drama, the Carolina Hurricanes bounced back in a big way in Game 2, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in overtime to even the series at one game apiece. Seth Jarvis delivered the winner on a power play just 3:56 into OT, capping a thrilling comeback after Carolina erased a two-goal deficit with three third-period goals. Vegas answered late with Mark Stone's game-tying goal, but the Hurricanes found the final response this time around. Logan Stankoven, Mark Jankowski and Jordan Staal scored in the third, Shayne Gostisbehere added two assists, and Frederik Andersen stopped 23 shots. With momentum shifting and emotions running high, the series now heads to Las Vegas for Game 3 at T-Mobile Arena.

The 2026 Stanley Cup Final features the Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights in a best-of-seven series beginning Tuesday at Lenovo Center.

Carolina returns to the Final for the first time since winning its only Stanley Cup in 2006, while Vegas is making its third Final appearance in nine seasons and is seeking a second championship after winning it all in 2023.

The Hurricanes defeated the Senators, Flyers, and Canadiens to win the East, while the Golden Knights eliminated the Mammoth, Ducks, and Avalanche to capture the West. Vegas also swept the regular-season series 2-0.

The NHL playoff race is heating up with major storylines across the league. The Islanders have fired Patrick Roy and replaced him with Peter DeBoer, Porter Martone scored his first NHL goal in overtime to help push the Flyers into a playoff position, plus the Devils snapped the Canadiens’ 8-game winning streak with a shutout. It was a night of hat tricks as Robert Thomas, Kirill Kaprizov, and Will Cuylle all delivered huge performances, and Sidney Crosby led the Penguins with a 3-point game and continues his NHL record of 21 consecutive seasons averaging at least a point per game. Brady Tkachuk added two goals to lift the Senators past the Hurricanes and on top of it all, the Canadiens clinched a playoff spot for the second straight season.
