Maya sits down with Katy and Kiara at 11 days postpartum to reflect on the final days of Katy’s pregnancy, her shift into labor, and Kevin’s birthstory. We allow for curiosity of the hospital protocols and discuss calculated risk to benefit. We then dive into the challenging hormonal shifts post-birth and alarming pediatric visits. We hold space for her concerns of breastfeeding and milk production. Throughout the conversations we include the importance of being well informed to support her motherhood intuition.

Follow Maya and Paula on Instagram and Facebook: @solhealth

For upcoming events visit: www.solhealthyoga.com

Email us: connect@solhealthyoga.com with any questions.

Music featured in this episode by Bensound.com

Please share this podcast with a friend and give them a love tap with some inspiration for growth.

19. Gift of Harmony: 4 Characters of Your Self with Debra Grant and Jelila

In today’s episode of the Sol Health podcast, we sit down with Debra Grant and Jelila. Debra served as Jelila’s midwife in Bali over 20 years ago. During this reunion, 8,000+ miles from home, Jelila shares songs from her voice and guitar (00:08:30 and 1:02:00) as we open up to a surprisingly deep discussion that moves beyond reminiscing on Jelila’s birth story. Debra and Maya discover the relationship between the Balinese views on birth and the placenta with the correlation to Jelila’s ‘Gift of Harmony’. Jelila shares the relationships with the characters within ourselves and opens the door into the belief systems that stem from the Man, Woman, Child, and Sage. We discover roots of enslavement to humanity and the deep inner conflict that binds many people to limited self expression. Through our time together, Jelila offers Debra an ‘on the spot’ process of releasing and healing from some of her limited beliefs rooted within her masculine and feminine self.

18. Midwife & Sage Femme: With Women (Womban Herstory) with Debra Grant

Debra Grant has been working in the field of midwifery: “with woman” since 1978, when a friend of hers asked her to deliver her baby because she didn’t want to go to the hospital. From that moment on, more friends asked her to help deliver their babies at home, and Debra’s true calling emerged.

She decided to “get educated” in pregnancy, labor, and birth. She did self-study, attended nursing school, and then worked in labor and delivery at a hospital. This fully rooted her decision to do a home birth practice. She graduated from Seattle Midwifery School in 1988 as a Licensed Midwife. She has delivered over 1,000 babies, in the US, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Bali, and Kenya, Africa. She was on the faculty at Seattle Midwifery School for years, trained over 30 midwives, and was one of the first to assist at water births in Washington. Her philosophy and belief is hands off management as long as the baby and mother are fine”. Currently , Debra works as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in private practice in Yelm, Washington. She continues her “with woman” philosophy of care (and occasionally comes out of midwifery retirement to have the honor of delivering a baby).

Katherine holds space for how it is that people want to feel. We discuss embodiment and strategy for how to be aware of what your body is telling you. What lies underneath behavior is emotion. Emotion drives behavior. She touches on connecting the 3 brains in the body: the mind, the heart, and the gut. We dove into rational thinking and listening to sensations of the body. We discuss comfort zones, status quo, and limited beliefs that cause fears and physical discomforts when leaning into changing patterns of how we live. She speaks to alignment within the body and unlocking growth through life experiences.

14. Intentional Christmas: Merging Yoga and Christianity with Debi Tonsager

Our conversation touches on the belief by some Christians that yoga is the worship to Hindu gods and sacrilegious. We hear Debi‘s point of view through her own experiences as a Christian. She believes yoga is a connection with God, and she honors God with her body through her yoga practice and teaching. She feels this connection with God every time she walks into the Yoga Shala and knows that Jesus is right beside her. Debi relates similarities between Yoga and her Christian faith with the following Bible verses-Colossians 3:12 and Romans 5:3. We also discuss Debi‘s view that we all can come together on our mat referencing Corinthians 10:31 ‘All in the glory of God’. Her belief is that God meets us where we are, so why not on our yoga mat?

In this episode we speak with Anneliese Feld the author/creator of the petition for Initiative 1585. Anneliese has researched and exposed the vulnerability of residences in Washington state when it pertains to eminent domain. She explains this petition needs 400,000 registered voter signatures by December 30, 2022. She also describes the type of initiative she filed and the ways in which it can be passed as a law for Washington state. Initiative 1585 benefits all Washington state land & parcel owners. We also talk about why this initiative could be a deterrent for the development of the proposed international airport in both central and eastern Pierce County along with the site considered in Thurston County. If this airport is approved, a minimum of a 25 square mile area will be obtained from homeowners/landowners through our current imminent domain laws. We explored all of the infrastructure needed in order to support a major airport in these rural sites that are being considered.

No international airport in Pierce County.
11. Womb Love: Deep Listening & Healing the Womban with Ceiba Lizette

We discuss radical self care and self love within conscious maturity through love and pleasure. We discuss the power of taking care of you, and giving time to you to allow for conscious healing. We discuss the cultural pressures of production and our relationships to rest.
10. Grounded through Fears of Death AND Growth inspired by Courage: Accelerating Spiritual Connection when losing her Mother with Erica Cooley-Faulk

Maya and Paula are joined by Erica Cooley-Faulk in finding comfort in her daily practices of being uncomfortable during times of unsettling.

Erica shares a grounding meditation at the beginning of the conversation bringing in unconditional loving awareness and white light into our space and merging density and light.

Erica was raised by older parents, while attending a private Christian school, and enjoyed creation through dancing, photography, journalism, web design, business marketing, and has thrived within masculine dominated industries.

Within the last year, she has found balance within the feminine aspects in her life such as her relationship with her mother, aerial yoga, sound healing and a deeper connection to spirituality and the air element while grounding into her experience here on Earth.

In 2018, Erica found meditation as a tool to create better balance in her life. However, she found the acceleration in her Spiritual Growth since her birthday on August 17th, 2021 when her mom and dad got Covid on her birthday. She shares the journey of her father recovering after 3 weeks, and her mother passing away while in the hospital.

She experienced struggles of feeling confined and isolated through the state of the world, while grieving loss and depression to our pain and suffering.

She quickly learned the importance of taking care of herself and started to dig deeper and find gratitude for the pain and suffering. She speaks to the growth that has come from her deep seated fears of the loss of her parents.

She knows these challenges have offered her growth deep within herself and realizes that she becomes the best version of herself when she faces her deepest fears.

Erica continuously connects with her mother and allows her mother to live through her in each of her days. She shares her belief system of God and her understanding of what her mother is currently experiencing through her expansion of purity through death of her vessel. She shares her ideas on the process of aging and losing someone physically and embracing them spiritually.

Paula shares her experience of both of her parents dying in her twenties and the many gifts that death has brought to her as well.

They interpret right and wrong, similarities of spirituality and religion, exploring spirit guides, mortality, and the concept of energy living through us in connection to others. They share their understandings of separation from density within our own skin and union to light within Peace.

Through loss, she has gained insight within her relationships while building friendships and allowing for mentorship during this transition in her life. She explores the concept of “death doula” and holding space for others while finding the tools and modalities necessary to allow for transformation in life.

LINKS:

Afterlife of Billy Fingers: https://www.afterlifeofbillyfingers.com/

Contributions and writings of Thich Nhat Hanh: https://www.lionsroar.com/tag/thich-nhat-hanh/

Quantum Physics: https://consciousreminder.com/2016/12/15/nothing-solid-everything-energy-scientists-explain-world-quantum-physics/

Transcendental Meditation: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mind-Performance-Transcendental-Meditation/dp/0399184856/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?crid=2TY8V5FD7YKMN&keywords=supermind+book&qid=1668110251&sprefix=supermind%2Caps%2C138&sr=8-9

Neale Donald Walsch: https://www.amazon.com/Home-God-Life-That-Never/dp/0743267168

Dolores Cannon 3 Waves of Volunteers: https://dolorescannon.com/waves-volunteers-earth-generations-souls/

Summit of Wellness: https://www.summitofwellness.com/

Follow Maya and Paula on Instagram and Facebook: @solhealth

For upcoming events visit: www.solhealthyoga.com

Email us: connect@solhealthyoga.com with any questions.

Music featured in this episode by Bensound.com

Please share this podcast with a friend and give them a love tap with some inspiration for growth.

8. Finances, Service, and Resources: Business Model Centered within a Balance of Giving and Receiving with Maya and Paula

The mother and daughter duo share their path of how they balance living within the monetary system, while simultaneously offering health to the community. They both had visions within their first teacher training, 10 years ago, of creating a wellness center. They share the story of how Sol Health transformed from classes and global retreats from their mother and daughter duo… into what it is currently: a beautiful public location that offers classes, series, trainings, retreats, ceremonies, 1:1 sessions, online classes, and co-creates with many local service providers. They share the events leading up to signing their 5 year lease and financially committing to their public location one month before the 2020 lockdowns. They express the vulnerability and responsibility of legally tying their name to the sacred space.

They recognize the Sanskrit translation of Kula, meaning tribe or community. At the essence of Sol Health, community is at the heart of everything that they do. The intention at Sol Health is to create balance in the contrast of Yin and yang energies. One of the ways this is experienced is through the symbol of our breath, our Prana, our life force, and connection to source energy. The balance of the inhale and the exhale creates harmony in our physical body. This is yoga. This is union. They merge this concept, of the symbol of breath and union, into the body of their community; it translates to a balance of giving and receiving. They understand that for some students, finances can inhibit the growth of their yoga practice. They share their karma yogi program, where students help to maintain the studio in exchange for classes. They also have numerous donation-based or free classes throughout each month on a “give what you can” premise. They recognize that “you are more important than your money”. They also have “Open Your Heart”, a mentorship and scholarship program, with classes through the month that are free or donation-based. Staff members volunteer their time and energy to this give-back program, allowing 100% of donations to be given directly to students in our community.

They are available online on Instagram and Facebook as well, where they post multiple times a week in support of education on the Yoga practice, inspiring techniques, and health benefits of mindful living.
6. Mindful Awareness: Somatic Experience, Meditation, and Living in Presence with Tinneca Fortin

We dive into her meditation and prayer practices and different methods that she enjoys currently and where she came from within a Christian upbringing. She shares about her large family and how she has shown up authentically within her parenthood journey with her husband, Matt. She homeschooled for many years, and shares some of the pros and cons of the different ways that she showed up as a mother. She shares about Timber Creek Farm and Forest School and the different philosophies that her and Matt have built this vision upon for the young children in the Pierce County area. Tinneca has 10+ years of supporting the birthing process as a midwife. She shares her experience of holding space for others and how to have empathy, compassion, and boundaries within balance. She celebrated her fortieth birthday within a healing retreat on her property and enjoyed sharing the collaboration with the other hosts while simultaneously sharing her gifts with others. She is currently enrolled in a 3 year trauma therapy program. The somatic experience is profound for a different approach to a “bottom up” therapy rather than “top down” talk therapy and the cognitive experience. She shares knowledge about the nervous system and how our body holds onto energy from our interpreted trauma. She shares that trauma is “too much, too fast, too soon” based on what has not been processed from individuals. Somatic awareness is feeling the physical body and listening to the language of regulating the self. The system is able to respond rather than react when in this place of alignment.

Links:

https://www.timbercreekfarmandforest.com

https://www.quiltedhealth.com/mission

aplace4healing.com

https://tinnecafortin.com

www.solhealthyoga.com/schedule

Follow Maya and Paula on Instagram and Facebook: @solhealth

For upcoming events visit: www.solhealthyoga.com

Email us: connect@solhealthyoga.com with any questions.

Please share this podcast with a friend and give them a love tap with some inspiration for growth.

Music featured in this episode by Bensound.com

4. Visions and Fun: Creation through Play, Presence Practice, and Tips to Have Fun! with Mariah Buck and Maya Ehnat

Mariah shares about her life growing up in a fun and playful environment with her parents and family lifestyle. She shares about her busy weekly schedule, and how she incorporates her light heart into the elements of structure. She shares how she has created a life that she loves with holding space for vision boards, manifestation, and creating goals that make her bubble up with joy. She discusses structure and production and how she balances her free movement and feeling based practice to find inspiration on accomplishing the things on her to-do list. Mariah educates us on the brain and how it activates when we “see things differently”. Maya shares her experience with Dynamic Meditation and moving freely while releasing the need to be within structure at all times. They dive into body language, posture, and how we can observe sensations and release hormones through different movements. Mariah shares that she strives to have fun and feels empowered to move forward knowing that she can flow with the events of life. She shares her daily practices of singing and dancing and weekly practices of meditation, yoga and stillness. She shares her experience of the expansion that yoga has created within her awareness of the thoughts in her head, and that she has the ability to control this relationship with her inner voice. They also discuss observing the mind through awareness and experiencing meditation through the lens of clarity of watching rather than the need to be completely still or blank. Mariah feels the best way to make this practice accessible to the larger community is to make it enjoyable and to honor and nurture their creativity, and by evoking this through getting messy and silly, people won’t feel so insecure. She feels that it is not a one size fits all practice, and there are so many different ways to connect into the different limbs that yoga has to offer. Mariah shares her excitement for the discipline of the October challenge of a daily practice. She plans to keep it sustainable with her ability to be creative in how she shows up for herself everyday.

Human Design Quiz: https://www.myhumandesign.com

https://www.amazon.com/Blueprint-Your-Castle-Clouds-Favorite/dp/157324581X

Follow Mariah on Instagram @_MariahMB_ and her events page: @ohmyghoshevents

Email: Mariah@ohmyghoshevents.com

Follow Maya and Paula on Instagram and Facebook: @solhealth

For upcoming events visit: www.solhealthyoga.com

Email us: connect@solhealthyoga.com with any questions.

Please share this podcast with a friend and give them a love tap with some inspiration for growth.

Music featured in this episode by Bensound.com

3. Seasonal Shift: Transitioning into the Autumn Equinox, Connecting to Mother Earth’s Alignment, and Spiritual Practices as a Family with Mama Fish Botanicals and Wellness, Shawna Fisher, and Maya Ehnat

Maya and Shawna share time together on Instagram LIVE, and open up questions to the public with an intriguing display of how to show up in the world while balancing family, holding space for others, as well as healing ourselves. Shawna shares how ‘Mama Fish Botanicals and Wellness’ came into fruition from her experience as an esthetician back in 2007 with taking care of the body from the inside out and taking off of peoples’ masks. In 2010, she became a mother and felt drawn to make the world a better place. Shawna shares how her relationship with her dad has influenced her connection to sound medicine. They reminisce on their recent retreat that they co-hosted together in Sedona, and how they held space without GIVING themselves away but rather pulling energy from Source. Shawna shares her heart’s desire to connect with the reiki practice and having a spiritual practice within the alignment of her family and business. She touches on how everything in her life has unfolded so organically as she “lets her magic out”. She allows her Spiritual practice to be a way of life, where every day is a ritual. Shawna encourages more rest and balance as we connect into the Lunar cycles. Shawna dives into the topic of seasonal shifts and her connection to holding space for community ceremonies to bring us into union through the transformation of the Earth. She shares her wisdom of the Autumn Equinox and the elemental guides that this shift offers us on a deeper level. Shawna encourages us to move out of the mind and into our hearts as we work with the power that the water element has to program our intentions and to honor your own constitution.

Dr. Emoto water study: https://thewellnessenterprise.com/emoto/

Mama Fish Botanicals and Wellness: https://www.mamafishbotanicals.com/

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mamafishlove/

Follow Maya and Paula on Instagram and Facebook: @solhealth

For upcoming events visit: www.solhealthyoga.com

Email us: connect@solhealthyoga.com with any questions.

Please share this podcast with a friend and give them a love tap with some inspiration for growth.

Music featured in this episode by Bensound.com

2. Mother and Daughter Duo: FAQs, Sharing on our Relationship, and Exploring our Partnership with Maya Ehnat and Paula Revilla

Maya and Paula meet up to connect on the dynamic of their mother/daughter relationship. They dive into the topic of being empaths and feeling each other deeply, creating healthy boundaries within their time together and how they show up in space with one another. They touch on the different ways they practice balance within Yin and Yang energies and how that presents into their dynamic of Sol Health and into their families. Maya and Paula are attending and hosting an October Challenge, where they are committing themselves into a daily Yoga practice. They reframe their current practices, and explain that Yoga is not just the shape of the body or the physical postures, but expands into the depth of the other 8 limbs of Yoga. They share the teachings that a Yoga practice is centered around union and there are many avenues to get into the embodiment of this connection. The October Challenge is available in person at Sol Health Yoga, online classes via MINDBODY, and on Instagram. They encourage listeners to join in whatever capacity they are able to expand their practice. They also share how their Yoga practice has affected their everyday lives, and moments in time that have slowed down through awareness. They evaluate their own production and the societal norms of the high pressure to “achieve” that is driven by Yang energy. They discuss how imbalances can overload our systems, when stuck in the stimulation of the business of life. They observe the balance of Yin/Yang and giving/receiving, therefore encouraging enjoyment through alignment of these contrasting elements while integrating and pausing within the abundance that life has to offer. They dive into their daily practices including presence, meditation, breath, movement, connection to nature, and more. They conclude with being a student and teacher simultaneously, and the importance of growth within the connection to both

Insight Timer: https://insighttimer.com/

Follow Maya and Paula on Instagram and Facebook: @solhealth

For upcoming events visit: www.solhealthyoga.com

Email us: connect@solhealthyoga.com with any questions.

Please share this podcast with a friend and give them a love tap with some inspiration for growth.

Music featured in this episode by Bensound.com
