Moving Borders: the research team's journey

In the final Moving Borders podcast, dance writer Karina Buckley, who was part of the research team of the cooperation project, speaks to Monica Gillette, Luisella Carnelli, Anna Kushnirenko, Yana Reutova and Roberto Casarotto. Whilst dramaturg Monica Gillette and impact researcher Luisella Carnelli explain their roles and learnings in this project, Yana Reutova and Anna Kushnirenko describe their experiences as displaced artists.

A cooperation project co-funded by the European Union, Moving Borders explores how three female dance artists from Ukraine – and the migration of millions of women and children escaping from the Russian occupation of their country – are informing approaches to welcoming and engaging refugees through dance, and in the development of inclusive and cohesive practices across Europe.

“Sia’s Diaries” is a way to explore Spring Forward 2025 through the words and thoughts of the participants, partners and organisers. Each day has a dedicated episode, presented and produced by Anastasia Grigore.
The first episode introduces the listeners to the venues and atmosphere of Gorizia, Italy and Nova Gorica, Slovenia as well as different methods of approaching the festival and the busy schedule.
Special thanks to the participants of “100 Questions”, a toolkit of 100 questions to spark exciting and meaningful conversations, designed by The School of Life ©
Recorded at Spring Forward 2025 in Gorizia & Nova Gorica, Season 3 features Aerowaves’ latest pilot project: the Podcast Academy. Five participants joined our regular presenter/producer, Dany Mitzman, and you’ll soon be able to hear some of the fruits of their audio voyage of discovery.

Moving Borders - Workshop at Arte Sella and la briqueterie

In 2023, Aerowaves (IE) together with Arte Sella (IT), la briqueterie CDCN (FR) and Tanec Praha (CZ) started to explore how female dance artists from Ukraine are informing approaches to welcoming and engaging refugees through dance, and in the development of inclusive and cohesive practices across Europe. As a consequence Moving Borders, a cooperation project co-funded by the European Union (Dec 2023 – Nov 2025) was conceived, and since that time the partners have organised international workshops, meetings (live and online) and dissemination events, as well as commissioning this publication.
