Grace City Church of Calgary

Grace City is a Christian church based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Everything we do begins and ends with Jesus, because apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). We're one church, with two locations.

We're about three things: Gospel, family and mission. The Gospel is the greatest news--that Jesus, our Savior and God, sacrificed Himself to pay for our sins so we would be forgiven through faith in Him. As a family we look after one another as we are commanded. Our mission is to obey Jesus' great commission by being a "sending church". We want God's will to be done by making discples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We hope to bless everyone that our church comes in contact with. When the early church started as recorded in the Bible’s book of Acts, they were a blessing to the cities that they were a part of (Acts 8:8). We want everyone to know that if you do not yet believe in Him, we hope you will be blessed by this church regardless.

Good Friday 2026: Zechariah's Prophecy | Grace City Church

This Good Friday message from Grace City Church reflects on the powerful theme of remembering Christ’s sacrifice through the lens of Zechariah’s prophecy, pointing both backward to the cross and forward to its fulfillment in Jesus. The sermon explores how God’s grace has always been poured out, even in the Old Testament, and calls believers to fix their eyes on “the one whom they have pierced,” recognizing that salvation comes not from striving inwardly but by looking to Christ alone.

The Righteous Shall Live by His Faith | Grace City Church

This sermon continues a series on the book of Habakkuk, focusing on the prophet’s second complaint to God and the tension between God’s justice and the presence of evil. Kelly Reid emphasizes that bringing honest questions and frustrations to God is not only acceptable but encouraged, as Habakkuk models a faithful response by both lamenting and proclaiming God’s true character, even when circumstances don’t make sense. Kelly warns against two common responses to life’s brokenness: trying to fix everything in our own strength or reshaping God to fit our understanding.

Habakkuk 1:1-11 | Grace City Church

This message from Grace City Church explores the honest struggle of reconciling God’s goodness with the brokenness of the world through the lens of the book of Habakkuk. The speaker highlights how injustice, suffering, and even failures within the church can cause believers to question how a loving and righteous God allows such things, emphasizing that instead of ignoring or bottling up these tensions, we are invited to bring our raw questions and complaints directly to God in prayer. Habakkuk models this honesty, showing that God is big enough to handle our doubts and frustrations, and calls us to shift our perspective by fixing our eyes on Him rather than the chaos around us.

Intro to Habakkuk | Grace City Church

In this message from Grace City Church, Pastor Dave introduces a series on the book of Book of Habakkuk, exploring how to live by faith in a confusing and broken world. Addressing the age-old question of why a good and powerful God allows evil, he explains the historical context of the prophet Habakkuk, who wrestled with God over injustice in Judah and the looming threat of the ruthless Babylonian Empire. Through Habakkuk’s honest dialogue with God, the sermon highlights a central biblical truth—“the righteous shall live by faith.”

Jesus and Peter | Grace City Church

In this powerful conclusion to our journey through the Gospel of John, Pastor Johnny unpacks the restoration of Peter in Gospel of John 21, revealing how Jesus meets us in our failure and calls us back to purpose. After denying Christ, Peter returns to fishing—defeated and believing the lie that he’s disqualified—but Jesus lovingly restores him on the shore, not with condemnation, but with invitation: “Do you love me? Follow me.” This message reminds us that we are not defined by our sin, shame, or past mistakes, but by what our Savior says about us.

Thomas' Faith in Jesus | Grace City Church (South)

In this sermon from Grace City Church, Pastor Jeremiah reflects on doubt through the lens of John 20, exploring the story of Thomas and the risen Jesus to show that doubt is not the enemy of faith but a doorway that can lead either to deeper belief or quiet distance from God. Drawing from personal experiences with unanswered prayer, suffering, and church hurt, he explains how Jesus meets people in fear, grief, and skepticism with peace—pointing to His crucifixion wounds as proof of both His love and the reality of reconciliation with God.

Behold Your King | Grace City Church

This sermon from Grace City Church in Calgary explores the trial of Jesus in the Gospel of John, focusing on how figures like Pontius Pilate, the religious leaders, and the crowd unknowingly reveal profound truths about Jesus’ identity as King while simultaneously resisting His authority. The message highlights how people often seek control, security, and validation from substitutes—religion, politics, approval, or personal autonomy—rather than surrendering to Christ’s kingship, showing that neutrality toward Jesus is impossible: He is either resisted, replaced, or worshiped.

The Resurrection of Jesus | Grace City Church

This sermon from Grace City Church in Calgary explores the climactic moment of John 20—the resurrection of Jesus Christ—and explains why it changes everything about life, death, grief, and purpose. Pastor Jeremiah Smith emphasizes that Christianity stands or falls on the historical claim that Jesus physically rose from the dead, confronting both skepticism and faith with the reality of the empty tomb. Through the stories of John, Peter, and Mary Magdalene, he shows how the risen Jesus meets people in three key ways: confronting unbelief with evidence that invites faith, comforting grief through personal encounter and hope that death does not win, and commissioning believers to share the good news with others.

In this message from Grace City Church, the focus turns to John 19 and the powerful significance of Jesus’ burial. Reflecting on the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies—from Genesis and Psalms to Zechariah—the sermon highlights how every detail of Christ’s crucifixion and death unfolded according to God’s perfect plan. Jesus is revealed as the true Passover Lamb, whose unbroken bones and pierced side confirmed both prophecy and the reality of His death. The burial not only proves Christ truly died for our sins but also sets the stage for the resurrection.

Preacher: John Nicholson | Date: February 8, 2026 | Scripture: John 19:31-42

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch #jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

This sermon from Grace City Church walks through John 18–19, retelling the trial of Jesus before Pilate and the chief priests while exploring what it truly means to “behold” Him. The message challenges listeners to reflect on how they respond to Jesus today—not as a king we resist, replace, or reject, like Pilate and the crowds did, but as a king we dwell with, treasure, and ultimately surrender to—inviting believers to behold Jesus as their true, loving, and saving King.

Preacher: Kelly Reid | Date: January 25, 2026 | Scripture: John 18:28-19:15

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch #jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

Peter's Denial of Jesus | Grace City Church

In this message from Grace City Church in Calgary, Pastor Dave walks through John 18, contrasting Jesus’ faithful resolve with Peter’s heartbreaking denial under pressure. As Jesus stands calm and composed before the high priest, Peter crumbles in fear in the courtyard—revealing how self-confidence, pride, and spiritual unpreparedness can lead to failure. Yet the heart of the passage is not shame, but hope: even as Peter fails, Jesus stands firm, willingly moving toward the cross to save sinners. This sermon reminds us that while failure is real and persistent, our hope is not in our own faithfulness but in Christ’s.

Preacher: Dave Robinson | Date: January 18, 2026 | Scripture: John 18:12-27

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch #jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus | Grace City Church

In this sermon from John 18, Pastor Jeremiah walks us into the opening moments of the passion narrative to show that Jesus is not losing control but revealing it. As betrayal, arrest, and darkness close in, John’s Gospel makes clear that every step toward the cross is purposeful and willing: the King is fully in control, the Shepherd steps forward to shield His people, and the Savior freely drinks the cup of judgment in their place. This passage confronts our assumptions about control, suffering, and safety, inviting both believers and skeptics to see that the cross is not a tragic interruption of Jesus’ mission but its very heart—and to consider what it means to trust a sovereign, self-giving King when life feels most uncertain.

Preacher: Jeremiah Smith | Date: January 11, 2026 | Scripture: John 18:1-11

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch #jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

Advent 2025: Presence (South Mission) | Grace City Church

In this Advent message from Grace City Church, Pastor Jeremiah reflects on the profound gift of God’s presence—Emmanuel, “God with us.” Drawing a compelling contrast between the mystery of an anonymous artist like Banksy and the Christmas story, this sermon proclaims that God has not remained distant or hidden but has revealed Himself fully in Jesus Christ. Through Matthew 1, we explore how Jesus’ coming means our past can be forgiven, our present transformed, and our future secured, reminding us that Christmas is not merely sentimental but salvific. Whether you feel weary, searching, or confident in faith, this message invites you to behold the wonder of a God who draws near, walks with us in every season, and holds our lives forever in His hands.

Preacher: Jeremiah Smith | Date: December 14, 2025 | Scripture: Matthew 1:18-25

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch ##jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

Advent 2025: Peace | Grace City Church

In this Advent message from Grace City Church, we reflect on the deep longing for peace that surfaces at Christmas and why the peace we expect is often not the peace Jesus promises. We explore Scripture to uncover the true meaning of “peace on earth," which is not the absence of conflict, but reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ. This message invites both long-time Christians and those who are curious or weary to rediscover Christmas as more than sentimentality: it is the announcement that lasting peace is available to all who receive it through Christ.

Preacher: Jeremiah Smith | Date: December 21, 2025 | Scripture: Luke 2:8-14

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch ##jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

Through stories, Scripture, and the powerful imagery of God defending and restoring His people, we are invited to see how Christ transforms our groaning into glory and makes us “more than conquerors.”

Preacher: Chris Greenwood | Date: December 7, 2025 | Scripture: Romans 8:31-39

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch ##jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

Experience this uplifting Advent message from Grace City Church as guest preacher Kelly Reid invites us to unwrap “the gift of joy” found in the incarnation of Christ. Drawing from Hebrews 2:9, Kelly reflects on the humility of Jesus taking on flesh, the hope found even in His suffering, and the glory of His exaltation—showing why the birth of a child 2,000 years ago still fills our hearts with wonder today. Filled with personal stories, Christmas traditions, and a call to refocus on Christ amid the season’s noise, this sermon reminds us that true joy is both a gift and a choice, rooted in the new life Jesus gives.

Preacher: Kelly Reid | Date: November 30, 2025 | Scripture: Hebrews 2:9

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch ##jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

Experience a powerful message from Pastor Jeremiah at Grace City Church as he opens John 17 and reminds us of the sustaining grace of God: a grace that keeps, protects, sanctifies, and sends His people into the world with purpose. Through stories of Corrie Ten Boom, Adoniram Judson, and the words of Jesus on the night before His crucifixion, we’re shown that God doesn’t always remove us from suffering, but He holds us through it.
Why Is There so Much Hypocrisy in the Church? | Grace City Church

In this message at Grace City, Pastor Jeremiah addresses a difficult and deeply personal question: “Why are there so many hypocrites in the church?” Speaking first to skeptics and seekers, he explores why hypocrisy offends us, how our moral intuition points to a deeper longing for truth, justice, and integrity, and why those very longings ultimately lead us to Jesus. He is the only one whose life perfectly matches his words. Turning to Christians, he warns that not everyone who claims Christ truly knows him, emphasizing Jesus’ fierce confrontation of religious hypocrisy and the biblical call to genuine repentance rather than performance. With honesty and hope, he explains that while believers may stumble, true Christianity cannot live comfortably in hypocrisy, because grace doesn’t make hypocrisy safe, it makes it unnecessary.

Preacher: Jeremiah Smith | Date: October 12, 2025

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship #gracecitychurch ##jesusislord #truthmatters #thewaythetruththelife

The Christian Life | Grace City Church

In this week’s message from Hebrews 12:1–2, we are reminded to lay aside every weight and fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith. Elder Mike Murage shares a powerful sermon on the Christian life—also known as the perseverance of the saints—encouraging us that salvation is secure in Christ, sustained by His grace, and lived out through prayer, Scripture, and community. Drawing from personal stories and biblical truths, Mike highlights how God holds us fast through every trial, and how the hope we have in Jesus anchors us to the end.
Humanity and Sin | Grace City Church

In this message, Pastor Dave walks us through Genesis 3:1-7 and unpacks the reality of sin, its devastating effects, and the hope we have in Jesus Christ. From the fall of humanity in the garden to the struggles we face today, we see that sin is more than breaking rules, it’s a rejection of God’s authority and a desire to live independently from Him.

But the story doesn’t end there. God’s plan of redemption was set in motion from the very beginning. Through Jesus, we find forgiveness, freedom, and the promise of eternal life.
God's Creation and Image | Grace City Church

In this sermon, Scott MacDonald helps us explore the doctrine of creation and what it reveals about God’s power, love, and purpose. From Genesis 1, we see that God created all things, including the seen and unseen, and continues to sustain them daily. We discuss why God created, how He relates to His creation, and what it means that humans are made in His image. Amid different perspectives on creation, one truth remains clear: God is good, sovereign, and worthy of our worship. This message calls us to trust the Creator, rely on his providence, and find hope and purpose in Jesus Christ, who redeems and restores what God has made.

Preacher: Dr. Scott MacDonald | Date: August 3, 2025 | Scripture: Genesis 1:1-5

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship

God's Communicable Attributes | Grace City Church

In this week’s message, Pastor Dave continues our Do You Believe? series by exploring God’s communicable attributes. We look at the aspects of His character He shares with us, such as love, justice, goodness, and wisdom. We discover that while our culture often redefines these virtues, God Himself is their true source and perfect example. Through Scripture, we see how these attributes are revealed most clearly in Jesus Christ and how knowing Him transforms every part of our lives.

Preacher: Pastor Dave Robinson | Date: July 27, 2025

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship

In this week’s message, John Nicholson continues our Do You Believe? series, focusing on the incommunicable attributes of God. Through Scripture and personal stories, we were challenged to see how a right understanding of who God is impacts not only our beliefs but also our daily lives and priorities.

Join us at Grace City Church as Pastor Jeremiah kicks off our new summer series, “Do You Believe?” In this message, we dive into the mystery and beauty of the Trinity: One God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Far from being abstract theology, the Trinity reveals the eternal love at the heart of God and invites us into relationship with Him. Whether you’re a lifelong believer, a new Christian, or just curious about faith, this series will help you see why knowing who God truly is changes everything about who we are, how we worship, and how we live.

Preacher: Pastor Jeremiah Smith | Date: June 29, 2025 | Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 1:9-11

🌐 Visit us online: https://gracecitychurch.ca

📷 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yycgracecity/

📖 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YYCGraceCity/

🎙️ SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/yycgracecity

🎙️ Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/grace-city-church-of-calgary/id1831793470

🎙️ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2hMxMMBjhZXKB9FHK30i8H

#jesus #jesuschrist #god #sundayservice #sermon #faith #worship
