Russell doesn’t want to talk about his job. He doesn’t think he’s that good at it, and would rather talk about the literally zillions of bands he’s been in, records he loves and breakfast cereal. And we let him for a little bit, but we try to get to the bottom of what exactly he does as a mechanic, how it’s gotten more difficult as cars become more computer-based, what the work situation is like at the garage and more. Along the way we uncover some great stories about acquiring and keeping the Pontiac Bonneville ambulance used by the Mummies in running order, drag racing as a kid and why he isn’t as good at slot-car racing as you’d expect from a member of the Phantom Surfers. Do we figure out his job? Maybe not. Do we have fun trying? Absolutely. Initially planning to become a lawyer, he discovered advertising and marketing instead, and was an early pioneer of the digital marketing and video game industries.
