I'M THAT

Whether through work or at play, I've had the good fortune of meeting some pretty prolific people. On 'I'm That', we have a chat about who they are, what they do, and why. It may be deep. Profound. Funny. Many times, all of the above. But it's always honest.

<itunes:summary>"One of the things that I hear people talking about a ton outside of Israel, around anti semitism, is we just learned that the history of Jews is still the history of Jews. That's something we had heard about that sounded like it happened to a different generation, that we were maybe post historical in some way that that's not true the trauma of Jew hatred, right? And so we are trying to change our outlook and our understanding of how the world relates to us and what we need to do to keep our families safe and to move forward. And some people are frozen and reeling. Some people are distancing themselves and trying to suppress their Jewish identity and pass in a lot of situations, as not Jewish, even in their own minds. In some ways, here's what I want everybody to know, resilience is not the lack of emotional experience. It's not a lack of difficult emotions or frustration or anger or sadness or worry. Resilience is the ability to navigate change towards a positive goal."</itunes:summary>

Yechiel Jacobs, Comedian & Advocate

What most people know about Yechiel Jacobs is how he makes so many people cry with laughter on Instagram about some serious Jewish subjects. He's only 23 years old, he's fearless, funny as s**t, and his comedic star is rising as he captivates audiences on and offline with his one-of-a-kind approach.

He asks the tough questions and skewers the people promoting the lies and hypocrisy about Israel and the Jewish People, and he doesn’t stand for the craziness that’s running rampant today. He doesn’t hold back and has no fear when it comes to the haters. He just uses his unforgettable voice to get straight to the heart of any issue, break it down, and give his hilarious take on what’s really happening.

One of the things I love about Yehiel is his unique ability to use comedy so powerfully to spark conversations and awareness about what's happening to the Jewish People and in Israel. That voice, his physicality, and his fearlessness all combine with intense smarts and funny to make you laugh out loud about some very unfunny subjects. He holds four degrees including an honorary degree from McGill University for his work to advance human rights, and for being “a voice for those without one.”

On September 14, 2016, the City of Chicago and Mayor Rahm Emanuel adopted a resolution declaring Hillel Neuer Day, citing his role “as one of the world’s foremost human rights advocates” and his contributions to “promote peace, justice and human rights around the world.”

TheTribune de Genève has described him as a human rights activist who is “feared and dreaded” by the world’s dictatorships.

The Journal de Montreal wrote that he “makes the U.N. tremble.”

Israel’s Ma’ariv newspaper named him to its list of the “Top 100 Most Influential Jewish People in the World.”

Hillel Neuer is an acclaimed speaker who has testified often before the United Nations and the United States Senate and House of Representatives. Hillel taught international human rights at the Geneva School of Diplomacy, and has served as Vice-President of the NGO Special Committee on Human Rights in Geneva.

Since 2009, he has headed a coalition of 25 human rights groups as chair of the annual Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy, a renowned international gathering that provides a global platform to courageous pro-democracy dissidents from around the world who put their lives on the line to demand fundamental freedoms in oppressive regimes. Concordia University Magazine said he is “helping to shape history.”

Prior to joining UN Watch, Hillel practiced commercial and civil rights litigation and even represented Oprah Winfrey and other high-profile individuals and corporations.

In 2007, Hillel Neuer’s banned U.N. speech became the most viewed and written-about NGO speech in the history of the United Nations. News reports described it as a “stunning rebuke of the U.N.
Troy Gua, Artist

Born and raised in Seattle, Troy Gua is a passionately creative Artist.

He's a self-taught artist, designer, maker, and tinkerer, continuously cultivating a prolific output of smart, bold work in a diverse range of media, produced with wit and a crisp visual aesthetic.

He is well known within the Purple Prince family for his 'Le Petit Prince' series of lovingly detailed and meticulously staged photographs - a surreal reimagining, in sculptural miniature, of the life and career of Prince Rogers Nelson, his artistic hero and his life’s and work’s most profound influence and inspiration. But it doesn't stop there. There's also his Pop Hybrids, Colorbands and Portals series.

To Troy, the idea comes first, the media of choice is whatever best serves the idea, and the methods of fabrication are as wide in scope as the results.
