You know what my favorite thing about Shurima is? I don't know. But it's not Azir. And thankfully, we didn't have to talk about him much in this episode! Truly, even the Wiki wasn't interested in that guy. Shurima is the largest region in Runeterra, so naturally, we rambled on for 90 minutes. It has a ton of history and champions not only from Shurima, but many who have connections there. Including the Black Rose. So maybe we'll get some new lore soon?

Star Guardians Season 3

We only have one story to discuss here, but they managed to fit quite a lot in there. With a ton of new Star Guardians, old, new, and back from the dead, it's a little hard to focus on anyone for too long. But we do know that super powered big bad attacks are very cool, and sometimes all you need is a good old fashioned sacrifice.

Ambessa: Chosen of the Wolf: A League of Legends Novel: Arcane was a great look into parts of Ambessa's character that Arcane greatly struggled with. Although there aren't a ton of champions in the book, the novel does a great job expanding the few League champions it does include. Mostly Rell. Please protect my darling girl.

One sword, two swords, red sword, whose swords? Yone, they're Yone's swords. Unlike his highly catalogued brother, Yone has only a smattering of lore. The pieces about him tend to get caught up in the flash of his blades, and don't let us peel back the mask to see the character underneath. There were certain versions of Yone we preferred over others, and his and Yasuo's cooking AU left us all hungry for more. Add in a dash of "wait, is this like, him for real?" from the Spirit Blossom skinline, and we've got a recipe for success.

It's quite appropriate that we welcome the arrival of the scariest month of the year with the big bundle of spooky chains himself. As Runeterra's actual factual villain, we're happy to see Riot willing to spend some time with the chain warden, most recently filling out his background via the Ruination novel. Aside from the expected (murder, taunting Lucian, more murder), we also enjoyed reading about Thresh's IRL cyberbullying and workshopped a potential musical number for the hookman.

We FINALLY get some insight into Ixtal, and it only took us to episode 105! There are a lot of neat ideas floating around this part of Runeterra, and it is laden with that dreaded word - potential. Unfortunately, Riot seems to have tried making up for the lack of Ixtali lore by putting about 300 pages worth of worldbuilding and magic-system-explanations into a single short story, with mixed results. Despite our misgivings, we ended up liking Qiyana's characterization, and were left wanting more of her and her home empire. Also, stick around for erotic gum commercials, Keanu Reeves puns, and vicious dirty laundry airing.

We did our best to not complain about the Rise of the Sentinels event even more than we have already, but unfortunately The Spear of Vengeance helps set off the Ruination and then promptly disappeared. And by disappeared we mean Riot decided to just kind of forget she exists. And so few AU's! Come on!

Although Diana, Scorn of the Moon has been out in the world for a very long time, her lore is still lacking in ways we found a bit disappointing. Between an interesting relationship with Leona (Riot pls make them gay we all know it's true), and an intense conflict with the people who raised her, Diana has a lot of room for interesting stories. Sadly, there just aren't any. Maybe one day! Until then, listen to us speculate on what they should do because obviously we know best.
