Cara Dyba, is the Director of the Grove ministry here at Passion City Church. She is married to Jason Dyba and mother of two incredible boys, Roman + Asa Dyba. Cara has both faithfully worked and served here at Passion City Church for the past 8 years as a Grove staff team member + DoorHolder on our worship team. A great deal of all that goes into the Grove is a product of both Cara's vision and oversight. Together, her and Shelley have been faithful stewards over the legacy and history that is the Grove.

In today's episode, God completely shifted the direction of where our team thought we were going. In a turn of a few quick events, we found ourselves pivoting toward God's plans to have Cara Dyba sit down with Shelley Giglio and have a discussion around living a life open to pivoting. Cara's entire testimony up until this point has been a life of needing to understand when God was divinely stepping in to interrupt and shift the direction she was headed. And as He always promises in His word - These shifts were for His Glory and her good. Katherine and Jay had their lives turned upside down when Katherine suffered from a major brain stem stroke in 2008, shortly after giving birth to their first son. In the years since, she has been through countless therapies and procedures, and while she still has many physical struggles, she and Jay and their family are committed to the mantra “hope while you cope” and have generously given their lives to spread that message. Today’s episode of the Grove Podcast was graciously given to us by Christine Caine and Dr. Anita Phillips. In response to the recent rise in racial tensions stemming from the media coverage of injustice toward Black Americans, many necessary conversations have emerged among people of all color.

One of the most helpful conversations that we have observed is this one between Christine and Dr. Anita. It is raw and full of humility and grace. Dr. Anita helps white believers better understand the past and current realities of their black brothers and sisters, while giving helpful insight into the differences of our cultures and communities.

Christine Caine is a long-time friend of the Grove and is kind enough to come and preach and encourage us year after year. In addition to speaking and writing, she runs Propel Women as well as the A-21 Campaign with her husband Nick. Dr. Anita Phillips is a therapist, mental health advocate, life coach, and minister dedicated to encouraging, educating, and empowering communities. Suffering Strong :: Katherine Wolf

Today on the Grove Podcast, Shelley Giglio sits down with a dear friend of the Grove, Katherine Wolf. On April 21, 2008, Katherine suffered a massive brain stem stroke, which could have left her paralyzed or in a vegetative state, but the Lord had different plans for their family. Although she is still severely disabled, and struggles with many harsh side effects of her stroke and the events that followed, she and her husband Jay and their two boys have learned to thrive in their story. Katherine and Jay recently moved their family cross-country from Los Angeles to Atlanta and are a part of the Passion City Church family.

In today’s episode, she shares with Shelley how she has come to love her story, how God has healed her heart and given her the ability to “hope while you cope.” They talk about raising boys, the challenges of watching them grow in their understanding of her disability, and even relate to each other as being daughters of dads living with cancer. It’s an honor to have her share with us today, especially in the wake of the 11th anniversary of the day that would mark her life forever.
