Sarah shares her story from her early days in Cornwall, then the midlands before she moved with her family to Kenya when she was 7. From her poor but happy childhood in Sierra Leone, to training to be a nurse the UK. In a class of 86 students, she was the only person of colour. She describes the rascism and prejudice she suffered during that time and how she determined to not let it affect her.</p><p>The next few years were spent in between Sierra Leone and times of training in the UK before she finally settling here after a PhD. </p><p>She talks about the challenges of bringing up her own 2 children along with her sisters son and 2 other children she adopted, loved and cared for!</p><p>Henrietta's inner joy, her resilience and her love for her Saviour are a joy to hear and experience. </p>

She describes the rascism and prejudice she suffered during that time and how she determined to not let it affect her.</p><p>The next few years were spent in between Sierra Leone and times of training in the UK before she finally settling here after a PhD. </p><p>She talks about the challenges of bringing up her own 2 children along with her sisters son and 2 other children she adopted, loved and cared for!</p><p>Henrietta's inner joy, her resilience and her love for her Saviour are a joy to hear and experience. </p>

It’s ok, we can laugh at ourselves together! </p><p>So please bear with us, and if you have thoughts, comments, ideas, suggestions, please send them in to podcast@bridgechapel.co.uk</p><p>We have some idea of how we’d like things to go and we’re open to that evolving and changing along the way..</p><p>As you know with podcasts, the way for others to hear about it his for you to tell people but also for you to rate the pod on the platform you use..we will be submitting it to iTunes, Spotify etc, all the big players so as many as possible can hear about it. </p><p>The first few episodes are  going to be conversations between me and a guest where we have a chat, get to know them and also, hopefully, learn from each others’ experiences..</p><p>So, this week, in episode 1, we’re going to have a chat with Chris...</p><p>The book he recommends is <a href="https://www.desiringgod.org/books/the-pleasures-of-god">The Pleasure of God by John Piper</a>. </p><p><br /> </p>
