The Green Bay Packers are undefeated after beating the Denver Broncos 27-16. The Broncos defense is now the first since at least 1960 to start the season with zero quarterback sacks through the frist 3 games of the NFL season.

Aaron Rodgers connected with Marquez Valdes-Scantling for his loan TD pass of the day which was a free play enabled by offsides by both Bradley Chubb and Von Miller. Phillip Lindsay had two rushing touchdowns including one where Dalton Risner carried him into the end zone. Joe Flacco played pretty good football except for one interception where the ball slipped out of his hand, and the 6 sacks by the Packers were too much for the Broncos to overcome. Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith gave the Broncos problems all day. The refs did negate a Royce Freeman touchdown run for a phantom holding call on Emmanuel Sanders. That bad call by the Officials wasn’t the Broncos only problem, but it was hard to overcome. That’s Good Sports reviews the game.

THAT'S GOOD SPORTS. Monday NFL Week 3 Recap.

Saquon Barkley suffered a high ankle sprain, was wearing a walking boot, but Daniel Jones led a game winning drive finished with a rushing touchdown. Kyle Allen threw 4 touchdowns in his debut for the Panthers and their win over the Cardinals. Miles Sanders nearly had his head ripped off in the Eagles Lions game but no penalty was called. NFL officiating is a problem. The Buffalo Bills are undefeated, as are the 49ers even though Jimmy Garoppolo kept fumbling and throwing interceptions. The Lions Jamal Agnew had the first kick return of the season to go for a TD.

The New Orleans Saints win with Teddy Bridgewater, and finally some bad play calling and poor protecting may have cost the Cleveland Browns a win on Sunday Night Football.

Training camp is in full swing around the NFL and bad news fills the airwaves as players get injured across the league. The New York Giants have lost Corey Coleman for the season with torn ACL, Sterling Shepard with a fractured thumb and Golden Tate could be suspended for 4 games. Bengals WR A.J. tore ligaments in his foot and could miss up to 3-4 games depending on how quickly he heals. Tyreek Hill suffered a bruised quad and was carted off the field. Ryan Fitzpatrick is winning the quarterback competition in Miami edging out Josh Rosen by about 20 edges. This was after Adam Rank predicted the Broncos to finish with a 2-14 record and land the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper had a great quote about his former team the Oakland Raiders. The Jets have a very surprising record, and Joe Namath apparently found a cure for CTE which he discussed on Howard Stern's radio show. Corner is a priority for Denver unless they draft one with the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Linebacker Brandon Marshall will test free agency, Shelby Harris will probably get tendered in hopes of working out a long term deal with the defensive lineman.. Domata Peko, and outside linebackers Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett will also most likely not be in Denver next football season.

Tony Gonzales angered Kansas City Chiefs fans because he called the Atlanta Falcons a winning organization. Rams vs. Patriots: A Super Bowl From Hell. The New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl 53. Sony Michel was the only player to score a touchdown, wide receiver Julian Edelman won SBLIII MVP, and Bill Belichick & Tom Brady got their 6th Championship win.
Los Angeles Rams QB coach Zac Taylor hired as head coach by the Cincinnati Bengals. New England Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores hired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Jared Goff looked confused trying to run Sean McVay’s offense. Running Backs C.J. Anderson and Todd Gurley couldn’t get anything going against the Patriots defense, and WR Brandin Cooks dropped two difficult passes in the endzone that could have won the Rams the game. Unless Tom Brady goes Liam Neeson during an interview his legacy in the NFL seems perfect. So perfect that Brady and Robert Kraft may have engaged in an open mouth kiss after the game. Tight End Rob Gronkowski made a key catch in the 4th quarter to help the Patriots score the only TD of the game. The stars may have been the kickers. Stephen Gostkowski missed a field goal early after Jim Nantz cursed him. Johnny Hekker set the record for longest punt in a Super Bowl. Greg Zuerlein nailed a 53 yard field goal, and Ryan Allen was perfect. Even Tony Romo seemed board broadcasting this game for CBS. Aaron Donald hit Tom Brady and threw him to the ground once, that was fun. After firing Vance Joseph two weeks ago the Denver Broncos head coaching search ended with Vic Fangio earning the job after 40 years of coaching linebackers and defenses in the NFL. Former head coach and Super Bowl 50 winner Gary Kubiak will have some sort of lead offense role. He has not yet been named offensive coordinator, but that will be his role on some level. The early rumor is that Ed Donatell will be Fangio’s choice as defensive coordinator. The Chicago Bears defense was #1 in the league this football season allowing the fewest points per game and ammassing 27 interceptions. Guys like Von Miller & Bradley Chubb should be primed for big seasons, and maybe Quarterback Case Keenum can play better with Kubiak calling the plays. Chuck Pagano, Mike Munchak, Brian FLores, and Zac Taylor were all considered for the job. The Arizona Cardinals have hired Kliff Kingsbury as their head coach. The Cleveland Browns remained in house and promoted OC Freddie Kitchens, and the Green Bay Packers have hired former Tennessee Titans OC Matt LaFleur to lead Aaron Rodgers out of the pit of misery.

The Denver Broncos will play Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans this weekend. Thomas will now play next to Deandre Hopkins, with J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, Whitney Mercilus, and Jonathan Joseph leading a very good defense and a team that is on a 5 game win streak.
The Football trades happened quickly on the trade deadline. Both DT and Golden Tate were rumored to the New England Patriots so Tom Brady could have another receiving weapon. But the Eagles gave up a 3rd round pick for Tate to help Carson Wentz and the struggling Eagles offense. After Ty Montgomery fumbled a kick return, eliminating any chances for another Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary comeback win he was a s good as gone.
The Detroit Lions sent Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Green Bay Packers traded running back Ty Montgomery to the Ravens & Safety Ha Ha Clinton Dix to the Washington Redskins, and the Jacksonville Jaguars traded 1st round pick Dante Fowler to the Los Angeles Rams. Demaryius Thomas had a hell of a career in Denver full of amazing plays, like his overtime walk off touchdown catch and run from Tim Tebow against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and catching Peyton Manning’s 509th TD pass against the San Francisco 49ers. DT leaves Denver with 655 receptions 3rd all time behind Rod Smith and Shannon Sharpe. 9,055 receiving yards 2nd all time, and 60 receiving touchdowns also second, and most importantly scoring the only touchdown in Super Bowl 48 to make sure the Broncos weren’t shutout.

Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs Monday Night Football S***fest. Episode 21 of the That's Good Sports podcast hosted by Brandon Perna and Will Keys. Today we review the Broncos 27-23 4th quarter loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Despite playing about 3 and a half quarters of very solid football, the Denver Defense could not stop Mahomes, Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce when it mattered the most in the 4th quarter. Case Keenum could have been a Denver hero, but he overthrew Demaryius Thomas in the final seconds for what would have been a game winning touchdown pass. Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, Shaquil Barrett, and Shane Ray combined for zero sacks on quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid called a very good 4th Q. The Chiefs dared the Broncos to beat them with back to back penalties putting them in a second and 30. Mahomes completed a 23 yard pass, to kill the Mile High Magic. The Broncos secondary played very well, and rookie running backs Royce Freeman looked unstoppable, until Vance Joseph and Bill Musgrave stopped feeding them the ball. Garrett Bolles continues to have pass protection and holding problems on the offensive line. Case Keenum hasn't thrown a touchdown pass since week 1, and has 1 pick in each of the last 3 games. The Broncos now share a 2-2 record with the Los Angeles Chargers, as the Chiefs remain undefeated in first place, and the Raiders in last with 1 win against the Cleveland Browns.

They are 3-0, the Raiders lost to the Miami Dolphins and are 0-3, and the Los Angeles Chargers lost to Aqib Talib and the Rams are 1-2. The Broncos are still in second place in the AFC West. Quarterback Joe Flacco was efficient throwing 1 touchdown. Alex Collins was the Ravens leading rusher with 69 yards and 1 rushing TD. John Brown was the leading receiver 5 receptions for 68 yards on Ray Lewis day at M&T stadium. Terrell Suggs looked young and finished the game with 1.5 sacks.

The Cleveland Browns & Minnesota Vikings may be seeking Kicker Dan Bailey for his services, after the Browns lost due to field goal and extra point misses, and the Vikings were left with a tie due to a 35 yard miss in overtime. The NFL keeps calling roughing the passer penalties, and Clay Matthews and the Packers were robbed of a week 1 victory because of a call in the 4th quarter. Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs look like the two best QB’s in the NFL. The New England Patriots lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills cornerback Vontae Davis retires at halftime against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Derek Carr was 29 of 32 for 188 yards and a touchdown. That’s a 90 percent completion rate. Marshawn Lynch was held to 65 yards on 18 carries and 1 rushing TD. Amari Cooper was the Raiders leading receiver with 10 catches for 116 yards. Martavis Bryant outperformed Jordy Nelson in his White Tiger return to the field. Tight end Jared Cook was kept in check after putting up 180 yards against the Los Angeles Rams. Case Keenum threw a red zone interception in the first half, after a beautiful 53 yard Phillip Lindsay rush. Von Miller should have had two sacks and a strip fumble, but the fumble sack on Carr was negated by a Todd Davis penalty. Case Keenum rushed for the other Broncos TD, and both rookie receivers Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick had touchdown receptions called back by the referees. Emmanuel Sanders was the leading Broncos receiver in the Mile High City. Jake But is finding a bigger role in the offense 4 catches for 48 yards. Shaq Barrett blocked and extra point in the first half that was huge for the final 20-19 score, and Domata Peko was a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line. Broncos tied for first place with the Kansas CIty Chiefs in the AFC West.

NFL Week 1 is almost in the books. The Thursday Night Season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, may have been the only game that had defense. Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was the most electric QB during the day on Sunday, throwing for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns destroying the Saints defense. Aaron Rodgers suffered what looked like a season ending Knee injury, and then returned in the second half to lead the Green Bay Packers to a win over the Chicago Bears who had a 20-0 lead. Khalil Mack looked great in Chicago. Brandon Perna and Will Keys recap the games from Sunday including the 21-21 tie between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns.
In the second half of the podcast, That's Good Sports, jumps into the Broncos vs Seahawks game. Denver Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen has been selected as a finilast as a contributor for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This means there is a 99.9% chance he'll be selected February 2nd to be in the Hall. Brandon Perna and Will Keys of the That's Good Sports Podcast preview the Denver Broncos vs Washington Redskins Week 3 NFL preseason game. Adrian Peterson, newly acquired running back for the skins will play Friday Night, as all other running backs in washington are injured or dead.
The Broncos do get cornerback Chris Harris Jr. back from an oblique injury, as well as wide receiver Demaryius Thomas from a wrist injury. Shaq Barrett returns to the edge rushing rotation, but offseason free agent safety Su’a Cravens is still out with a knee injury. He has seen zero reps this preseason, which may make it hard for the Broncos to keep him on the roster. Tackle Menelik Watson was moved to IR with the plans to release him once healthy, which means the Broncos wasted a lot of money on him. Paxton Lynch may not play at all this weekend in D.C. as Chad Kelly will get most of not all of the second half reps. Former Colorado State RB Kapri Bibbs is fighting for a roster spot behind Adrian Peterson. Alex Smith has only taken 6 snaps this preseason, so look for Jay Gruden to leave him in the game long enough to try and build chemistry with Paul Richardson, old San Francisco 49ers teammate Vernon Davis, Jamison Crowder, and whoever else catches balls in Washington. Samaje Perine, Byron Marshall and Derrius Guice, all injured in the first two weeks of the NFL Preseason for Washington.

NFL Preseason really starts today! Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas revealed he’s been dealing with a severe hip injury that nearly forced him to retire. He says he hadn’t been healthy for 2 full seasons, but changed his diet and workout routines that have helped reduce inflammation in his body, and has him feeling like he wants to play in the NFL for 15-16 years. The Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings will play in their first preseason games Saturday August 11th. Most of the NFL will play tonight, August 9th. Broncos haed coach Vance Joseph stated the starters will play two series, and that includes star Von Miller & Quarterback Case Keenum. Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt apparently punched some guy in the face at a resort in Ohio. Julian is Edelman facing 4 game suspension for PED use. The New England Patriots wide receiver is appealing the suspension which means the NFL & Roger Goodell could reduce the suspension or remove it since this was his first violation. Tom Brady was suspended the first 4 games of the 2016 season and the Patriots won the Super Bowl that year.

Welcome to the first episode of the That's Good Sports podcast with Will Keys & Brandon Perna. In this first test episode we discuss:
Beth Bowlen was denied the opportunity to become controlling owner of the Denver Broncos by the Broncos trustees. Pat Bowlen put the team in a trust in 2013 when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. The trust headed by team president Joe Ellis stated that Beth, “Beth Bowlen is not the only Bowlen child who is expressing interest in becoming controlling owner, and that the trustees have informed Beth of their determination that she is not capable or qualified at this time.”
This could mean a lot of things for the team moving forward, but right now it is very hard to gauge what is true and which side is not full of BS.
