<itunes:summary>IDF special operations veteran Josh Andre discusses identity, resilience, and what it means to be Jewish in a post–October 7 world. Josh reflects on growing up in the North Shore with little connection to Jewish identity, discovering purpose through Israel, and fighting through repeated rejections to join the IDF, where he ultimately served in an elite undercover unit along the Gaza border.
He shares firsthand experiences from October 7, the trauma of combat and loss, and the emotional toll of war — while also exploring the rise of antisemitism, the identity shift among diaspora Jews, and the importance of preparedness and community strength. Now a licensed clinical social worker and co-founder of IDFense, Josh helps individuals heal from trauma and trains Jewish communities in safety, resilience, and self-defense.

<itunes:summary>Author Jacqueline Saper, shares her powerful firsthand story of growing up Jewish in Iran before and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Jacqueline describes a vibrant, modern Iran of the 1960’s and 70’s where Jews and other minorities lived openly and Western culture thrived.
Her life changed dramatically when Ayatollah Khomeini came to power. Jacqueline recounts the rapid transformation from freedom to repression—mandatory hijab, executions, propaganda in schools, and increasing fear for religious minorities. As a young mother watching her daughter face indoctrination and war, she ultimately made the difficult decision to flee Iran with only two suitcases, leaving behind family and everything she knew.

Jacqueline Saper is an Iranian-American author, speaker, and educator best known for her memoir From Miniskirt to Hijab: A Girl in Revolutionary Iran. Born in Tehran to an Iranian Jewish father and a British Jewish mother, she grew up during Iran’s modernizing “golden era” before witnessing the dramatic changes of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Her work shares a personal account of life before and after the revolution and explores themes of identity, freedom, and the experiences of women and religious minorities in Iran.

<itunes:summary>Pastor Corey Brooks shares his journey from a small town in Tennessee to becoming a prominent pastor and community leader in Chicago. He discusses the importance of overcoming a victimhood mentality, the innovative initiatives he has undertaken, including the Walk Across America, and the challenges facing his community. Pastor Brooks emphasizes the need for collaboration across different communities and the importance of advocacy in addressing social issues. He also highlights the significance of education, empowerment, and maintaining strong relationships between diverse groups.

Guest Bio

Pastor Corey Brooks is a dedicated leader, visionary pastor, and nationally recognized community activist committed to transforming lives and revitalizing underserved communities. As the Senior Pastor of New Beginnings Church of Chicago, located in the heart of the South Side’s Woodlawn neighborhood, Pastor Brooks has spent more than two decades fighting for peace, justice, and economic opportunity for the residents of Chicago’s most vulnerable areas.
In 2011, Pastor Brooks gained national attention for his 94-day rooftop vigil, where he camped atop an abandoned motel to raise awareness and funds to demolish the crime-ridden building and replace it with a community center. His efforts led to the founding of Project HOOD (Helping Others Obtain Destiny), a nonprofit organization focused on providing education, job training, violence prevention, and economic development opportunities to at-risk youth and families.
Under Pastor Brooks' leadership, Project HOOD has expanded to offer a wide array of services, including mentoring programs, entrepreneurial training, mental health resources, and violence intervention initiatives. The organization is currently constructing the $40 million Leadership and Economic Opportunity Center (LEOC), a state-of-the-art facility that will provide vital resources, including primary care, mental health services, educational support, and small business incubation, to the community. Pastor Brooks’ work has been featured on national media platforms such as FOX News, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and The New York Times, and he is widely regarded as a leading voice in the movement to address the root causes of urban violence and poverty. Most notably, Pastor Brooks gained widespread recognition for his Rooftop Revelations series, in which he spent 343 days living on the roof of a building in Chicago’s South Side to raise awareness and funds for Project HOOD’s Leadership and Economic Opportunity Center. The series, featured on FOX Digital, allowed Pastor Brooks to share daily insights on issues related to poverty, violence, faith, and community development, amplifying his message to a national audience. His commitment to creating lasting change has earned him numerous accolades, and he continues to inspire through his relentless advocacy for economic development and opportunity.

<itunes:summary>Daniel and Simona sit down with Emmy Award–winning journalist, filmmaker, and actor Yuval David for an unflinching conversation about Jewish identity, resilience, and the rising tide of antisemitism. Yuval shares deeply personal family stories of survival and love during the Holocaust, including how hope and purpose sustained his grandparents through unimaginable horrors. From the role of Jewish education in shaping identity to the dangers of silence and appeasement, Yuval argues that Judaism is rooted not in victimhood, but in optimism, responsibility, and action. The discussion expands to the failures of modern progressive movements, the weaponization of identity politics, and the urgent need for Jews to speak clearly and unapologetically for themselves. Grounded in history yet sharply focused on the present, this episode is a call to courage—urging Jews and allies alike to reject false binaries, defend truth, and actively protect human dignity in a moment that demands leadership.

Voice of Resilience: Jewish Advocacy & Grassroots Power w/ Pamela Scheinman

Recorded on October 15, this episode of Jew & Stew features Pamela Scheinman, speaking from Netanya, Israel, in the emotional aftermath of a hostage release and amid ongoing concerns about the cost and consequences of negotiated deals with terror groups. Pam reflects on her Orthodox upbringing in Queens, her evolving observance, and the education that deepened her Zionism—especially through the David Project’s framework for understanding how Israel is “framed” physically, historically, and morally. She shares her journey from early advocacy in Boston—counter-protests, rallies, and city hall testimony—to building an Israel Action Committee in Chicago before October 7. Pam also recounts confronting the Chicago ceasefire resolution, and later working with allies to pass an anti-slavery resolution that directly named jihadist violence—underscoring her core message: Jews and allies must be visible, informed, and unafraid to speak truth in the public square.
Guest Bio
Pamela Scheinman lived in a Boston suburb for 28 years before relocating to Chicago in 2021, during which time she served as Chairperson of her synagogue’s Israel Action Committee in Newton, MA, and sat on the board of the grassroots pro-Israel organization BIAC (Boston Israel Action Committee). A committed advocate for Israel, she organized and participated in numerous pro-Israel responses to anti-Israel events throughout the Boston area, believing deeply in the importance of standing proudly as a Jew in the public square and confronting the lies and modern-day blood libels directed at the world’s only Jewish state. After moving to Chicago, she established an Israel Action Committee at her downtown synagogue to elevate Israel advocacy within the community, and became the sole anti-ceasefire speaker selected by lottery to address Chicago City Hall in January 2024. She was again selected in September 2024 to urge the Council to support Alderman Raymond Lopez’s anti-slavery, anti-jihad resolution, which—after modifications—passed the City Council in February 2025. Guided by the principle of Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh Lazeh—that all Jews are responsible for one another—and Rabbi Tarfon’s teaching in Pirkei Avot that “it is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it,” Pamela continues to devote herself to steadfast Jewish advocacy and moral clarity.

<itunes:summary>Allison Tombros Korman traces her path from a small Jewish community in upstate New York to becoming a leading voice in reproductive health and justice. She reflects on the formative experiences that shaped her Jewish identity, her years working in sexual violence prevention, and her intentional move into abortion access work. Alli opens up about the aftermath of October 7—how the silence from feminist spaces, including her own organization, became a breaking point and pushed her to speak out when it would have been easier to stay quiet. Out of that moment, she founded the Red Tent Fund, an abortion fund rooted in Jewish values that affirms bodily autonomy, dignity, and care for all who need it. Through honesty, warmth, and conviction, Alli shares what it means to reclaim her voice, build community, and lead with integrity in one of the most polarized moments of our time.

Guest Bio
Allison (she/her) brings two decades of nonprofit leadership in reproductive health and rights and organizational strategy to her role as founder of the Red Tent Fund. As founding Executive Director of Culture of Respect, she led a groundbreaking national initiative to end campus sexual violence. She later served as Senior Operations and Strategy Director at the DC Abortion Fund until resigning in 2023 in response to antisemitic conduct by staff and Board. Throughout her career, she has designed and implemented strategic programs for major organizations including USAID, CDC, and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals.

Alli holds a Masters of Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a B.A. in English and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan. She has additional certifications in Restorative Justice Facilitation from the University of San Diego and Executive Facilitation from Georgetown University.

Kosha Dillz shares his journey of navigating Jewish identity through the lens of comedy and rap. He reflects on his upbringing, the impact of October 7th, and the creation of his film 'Bring the Family Home,' which explores contemporary Jewish issues post October 7th, the encampments to the release of the hostages. Kosha emphasizes the importance of community, storytelling, and humor in advocating for Jewish representation in the arts.

Kosha Dillz—born Rami Matan Even-Esh—is a freestyle phenom, rapper, storyteller, and community builder whose career bridges hip-hop, Jewish identity, and unapologetic activism. Known for his electrifying performances from the streets of New York to stages at SXSW, BET Cyphers, and international festivals, he has collaborated with artists like Matisyahu, RZA, and Fat Joe while cultivating a reputation for turning raw personal history into powerful art. A child of Israeli immigrants and a longtime advocate for hostage awareness and Jewish community resilience, Kosha blends humor, grit, and vulnerability in a way few artists do. Whether going viral for standing up against antisemitism on campus or dropping multilingual bars in English, Hebrew, and Spanish, Kosha Dillz continues to redefine what it means to be a rapper with purpose.

He reflects on his life in Israel, military service, and the significance of unity in combating antisemitism or what he calls Jew hatred. Sami emphasizes the power of positivity, resilience, and the need for clear language in advocacy. He discusses current events and their impact on Jewish identity, concluding with a call to action for unity and proactive engagement in the fight against hate.

Guest Bio

Sami Steigmann is a Holocaust survivor and motivational speaker whose life embodies resilience and moral courage. Born in 1939 in Czernovitz, then part of Romania, he spent his early childhood in a Nazi labor camp in Transnistria, where he was subjected to medical experiments. Liberated as a child, Sami rebuilt his life in Israel—serving in the Israeli Air Force—and later immigrated to the United States, where he now lives in New York. Having transformed his suffering into a mission, he travels the world speaking to students and communities about hope, tolerance, and the moral duty to “never be a bystander.” His message is simple yet profound: Never give up. Never lose hope. Be part of the solution.

Guest Bio
Since shortly after October 7, Sammy has taken to social media with a mission to lead like a Maccabi—boldly, unapologetically, and from the front. Confronting hatred with confidence, he believes that courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to act in spite of it, promoting a “Peace Through Strength” mindset to counter the paralysis fear often brings. Motivated by a desire to strengthen and empower the Jewish people—especially in the diaspora—Sammy has volunteered extensively as a Krav Maga instructor, community security detail, and madrich on Taglit Birthright Israel programs. Drawing from Jewish history and resilience, he encourages individuals to get stronger, take initiative, and consider making Aliyah. His content—often relatable, insightful, and infused with humor—aims to inspire while highlighting the existential threats facing both the Jewish people and Western society. Born and raised in London and now living in Israel, Sammy brings professional experience in construction and real estate, having managed high-profile development projects, and is committed to using those leadership skills to uplift and unite the Jewish community.
