SPEED

A show about leaders who move fast. Hosted by Peregrine Badger at Fifty Years. Fifty Years is a venture capital firm backing founders using technology to solve the world’s biggest problems.

We back founders working on climate change, health, free speech, affordable housing, and other global problems. When you’re working on problems like this, there’s a particular sense of urgency. Shipping faster means saving lives, preventing extinctions, and creating a future worth living for.

We interview leaders who move fast and ask them what they did and how they did it, with the goal of bringing their strategies and tactics to bear on the world’s biggest problems.

It’s ambitious and less crazy than it sounds, given they've brought folks from @SpaceX , @Stripe, @Amazon, @Apple, @NASA, and @LockheedMartin. We’ll hear what Varda is all about and the lessons Bruey learned from the early days at SpaceX. George became a Harvard medical school professor in 1986, and was one of the architects of the Human Genome Project in the early 1990s. Since he’s been instrumental in driving forward an array of technologies. He’s also co-founded of more than 20 venture-backed startups.

I got to know George through founders he’s worked with, whom Fifty Years has backed. These include the founders of Manifold, HelixNano, Tierra, 64x, and Nabla. At Fifty Years, we’ve been one of the first partners to all of these founders on their journeys to bring science from the lab to society.
