With EDGE George Tarlas expected to miss the rest of the season with a hip injury, and defensive tackle Scott Matlock and nose tackle Jackson Cravens sidelined, Boise State needed an interior defender to step up in a big way. Obichere did just that against the Rams, leading the Bronco defense with 7 tackles to go along with 4.5 tackles-for-loss and 2 sacks.

Air Force currently ranks No. 9 in all the land in total defense, allowing just 283.9 yards per game. The Falcons also only allow 155.9 passing yards per contest, which is the fourth best in the FBS. 

Following back-to-back explosive offensive performances and wins on The Blue, can Boise State's offense continue to fly against a stout Air Force defense?

After a shaky start to the 2022 campaign, Boise State's offensive changes have paid dividends in Mountain West play. In the Broncos' wins over San Diego State and Fresno State, the boys in blue and orange rumbled for more than 300 rushing yards. Boise State's offense is boomin' during the bye week, thanks to the "three-headed monster" of Taylen Green, George Holani and Ashton Jeanty.

Defensively, Boise State has been dominant since day one, but jumped up the national ranks following Saturday's win against Fresno State. Boise State only allowed 233 yards of total offense against Fresno State at Albertsons Stadium. The Broncos lowered their season average to 235.7 yards allowed per game, which ranks fourth-best in the country.

After a shaky first quarter, the Broncos' redshirt freshman stormed to 105 rushing yard and two touchdowns on eight carries. Green pulled a read option and turned it into a 39-yard touchdown to go ahead 35-13, putting the icing on the cake for Boise State. 

The Boise State defense only allowed 26 net yards on 37 plays over the final three quarters against the Aztecs, totaling a whopping 0.7 yards per play on offense for San Diego State.

Following Boise State's worst passing performance since its FBS debut in 1997, head coach Andy Avalos fired offensive coordinator Tim Plough. Former Bronco head coach Dirk Koetter takes over the offensive controls moving forward, with a new quarterback behind center.

Fourth-year starter Hank Bachmeier told ESPN he has started the process to enter the transfer portal, Pete Thamel reported Tuesday. Hours earlier, Avalos announced redshirt freshman Taylen Green will start on The Blue vs. SDSU.

While the offense put together a strong second-half effort in Albuquerque, questions still loom surrounding Boise State's ability to start fast and be consistent while possessing the football.
