Kim Clavel: Knockout Knowledge from a World Boxing Champion

Kim Clavel may be small, but she is mighty. Kim has fought many battles, both in and out of the boxing ring, and has worked tirelessly to make her dreams a reality.

After an impressive amateur career, Kim took the leap and gave up her career as a nurse to become a professional boxer. It was risky, but it was worth it, because of all of the lessons that Kim learned on this adventure. She also became world champion along the way!

Kim won the Pat Tillman ESPY Award for her courageous work on the medical frontlines during the pandemic, and was also named a Time Magazine New Generation Leader in 2021.

Kim has done so much in her sport, but she knows that she is more than a boxer, and she really values her life as a whole.

Kim is a sister, a daughter, a girlfriend, a friend, and has so many passions and joys in life, from riding horses with her sister, to her weekly breakfast dates with her grandmother.

Philip Kim, also known as Phil Wizard, is a breakdancing extraordinaire. From an awkward start at school dances, to discovering breakdancing on the streets of Vancouver, Phil has gone all in on his craft and has become the top-ranked breaker in the world.

Phil made history as the first ever breaker to win the Pan American Games in 2023 following multiple World Championship titles. He also happens to be the sole Canadian Bboy on the infamous Red Bull BC One All Star team.

More than the titles and the accolades, Phil purely loves to dance. He is driven by curiosity and creativity, and is constantly challenging himself to level up in the game of mastery and personal growth. As he prepares to represent Team Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games, Phil is focused on pushing the boundaries of artistry and athleticism.

I’m going to be cheering for Phil in Paris and I have no doubt that, after getting to know Phil in this conversation, you’ll be rooting for him too, every dance step of the way.

Alexi Pappas:

Alexi Pappas is an Olympic athlete, author, filmmaker, and actress. Alexi's memoir-in-essays, "Bravey," with a foreword by Maya Rudolph, was published in 2021 and became the number 1 new release in both the sports and film categories. Alexi will be releasing a young reader’s version of “Bravey,” coming out on August 22, with a foreword by Maya Hawke. A Greek-American, Alexi is the Greek national record-holder in the 10,000 meters and achieved a personal best at the Rio Olympics. Alexi graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College and also ran for the University of Oregon, leading the team to two NCAA victories.

Alexi most recently directed, co-wrote, and starred in the feature film NOT AN ARTIST alongside RZA, Ciara Bravo, Paul Lieberstein, Matt Walsh, and Haley Joel Osment (currently in post production). Alexi previously co-created and starred in the feature film OLYMPIC DREAMS alongside Nick Kroll, premiering at SXSW 2019. In 2016 Alexi co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in the feature film TRACKTOWN with a cast including Rachel Dratch ("Saturday Night Live") and Andy Buckley ("The Office"). I got so much out of this conversation with Alexi, and I know that you will too. Alexi is curious, courageous and candid, and is making the most of this game called life.

Most of you know Adam from the 2018 Winter Olympics, where he won the bronze medal with Team USA, while also winning the hearts of America, and the world and that matter. How did he do this? Well, he showed up as his true self, unapologetically, and claimed the Olympic experience that he had been chasing for years.

Adam’s path to the Games was not easy, and he handled adversity with determination, courage, a healthy dose of humour, and by doing the work in the dark so that he could shine in the light. He sure did.

Adam also made the bold decision to come out publicly back in 2015, which made him the first openly gay athlete to represent the United States at the Olympics. He takes the global stage, both on and off of the ice, to speak out in support of LGBTQ+ rights and the freedom to be oneself.

Adam empowers millions around the world by owning who he is, but this wasn’t always easy for him. It took work, setbacks, and leaving his comfort zone for Adam to become the confident and fearless man that we so admire. Guess what. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Molly has established roots in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she currently resides. After graduating from The College of William & Mary, Molly started her career in art and fashion with two years at Ralph Lauren. Molly's passion for travel and service led her to work closely with organizations such as ESchool4Girls, Lily of the Valley Children’s Village, and Empowers Africa, all of which she still supports today with her Waverly girls. She is an entrepreneur at heart, and founded The Waverly Project in 2012 after having female mentors in her life who helped her realize her own creative passions and feel brave enough to start her own company!
The Waverly Project empowers young girls to be bold and fearless in pursuing their passions. Motivated by her own passion for the arts, fashion, travel, and mentorship, Founder Molly Wills created Waverly as a way to introduce girls to innovative projects and inspiring female role models.
While Waverly hosts many unique events for girls of all ages, the most well-known are our Waverly Tours--creative experiences that expose girls to a variety of career paths and artistic outlets. Most Waverly Tours take place in our studio space located off Round Hill Road in Greenwich, Connecticut. In addition, Waverly hosts travel tours at local businesses and studios, as well as pop-up tours in New York City, London, and South Africa, with plans to expand to other cities.

Josh Senior: From Paralysis to Paralympic Great British Climbing Team

After suffering from a 35 foot fall resulting in multiple fractures including an incomplete spinal cord injury, Josh chose to have his leg amputated to allow for the life of training and adventure that he loves. On this week's episode, Josh tells his inspirational story of resilience, finding gratitude, and rediscovering his love of climbing. He has been selected for the second time by Team GB for Paralympic Climbing and aims to achieve his dream of becoming the World Champion.

Charlie Brear is a contemporary bridal and eveningwear label. Our bridal collections are stocked in over 50 boutiques world wide and has attracted a cult following from spirited and modern brides who want their wedding dress to be as unique as they are.
The Charlie Brear story started somewhat by accident. In 2005 Charlie, who worked as a fashion stylist, found herself selling off vintage wedding dresses sourced for a music video. She was struck by the growing interest amongst her circle of friends for something alternative to get married in, which at the time seemed limited. This motivated her to launch her own bridal wear company, selling one-off original pieces. Charlie subsequently began designing her own collections and fell truly in love with bridal. The addition of a red carpet-focused line in 2013 has also made Charlie Brear a destination for beautifully made eveningwear.
Since founding the brand as creative director and designer, the journey has been an all-encompassing one for Charlie. Drive and a true passion for her craft has enabled the eponymous label to grow from a fledgling start-up to a global success story rooted in Britain. With external demands, a young family and a growing team to manage, Charlie knows only too well the devotion needed to oversee a business.
