<itunes:author>Emma Holmstrom, Andy Robbins, Dave Stitt</itunes:author>
      <itunes:duration>00:43:38</itunes:duration>
<itunes:summary>Dave Stitt is recognized as one of the leading team coaches in the UK, where he works with some of the most important teams in the construction industry. Dave began his career in the construction industry where he was given the opportunity to take a coaching training program and that sparked a twenty plus year career as an executive coach. He is the author of four books, and his most recent is the newly released ‘Coach for Results’. When he is not coaching, you’ll probably find Dave out on his bike or in the pool, training as one of the UK’s top masters triathletes.

In this episode, Dave talks about the most common challenges the teams he works with face and how he helps them increase their performance. We also discuss delegation and Dave shares five keys from his book, ‘Deep and Deliberate Delegation’. <itunes:summary>Describing Nir Zavaro as “self-made” might be accurate, but there’s a lot more to his story than just those words; for months, Zavaro couch-surfed in Tel Aviv – one of the world’s most expensive cities – all while writing his first book and freelancing as a marketer for restaurants. At the start of his career, he fell in love with snowboarding and landed a job at Burton; imagine a more seemingly insurmountable task than trying to sell snowboards in the middle of Israel. Nonetheless, Zavaro prevailed. Nowadays, he is the founder and CEO of Streetwise Consulting, helping companies such as Microsoft, Unilever and eToro tell stories and ensure that everyone knows their name.

In this episode, Zavaro talks about how Marketing is intertwined with all aspects of a business, his natural talent for storytelling and how he became Israel’s only Olympic Commentator for Luge, Skeleton and Bobsleigh.

<itunes:summary>While nearly everyone in the world has their own perspective on sports, Lina Taylor viewed them as a ticket to a better life. Born in Bulgaria in 1975, Taylor could not leave the communist-led nation unless she had very special circumstances. But at age 16, both her exceptional volleyball talent and her indomitable spirit propelled her to the pinnacle of the sport. Representing Bulgaria for Beach Volleyball in both the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympic games, Taylor’s life was changed by sport. Years later, she is using sport to change the lives of others, helping young athletes in organizations like the Boys and Girls Club or The Foundation of Teamwork nonprofit. In this episode, Taylor recounts her childhood in Bulgaria, her volleyball career, and how she helps corporate leaders learn from her journey and take their game to the next level. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Being a leader at one of the largest tech companies in the world is certainly a challenge, but for Joel Levinson, what was even more challenging was searching for any semblance of work-life balance. After 30-hour trips around the world to locations which Levinson says he “will likely never see again,” he decided that the all-consuming work he was doing wasn’t worth the mental strain it caused him. Since leaving, he’s moved from Arizona to Vancouver, BC in search of a job that both satisfied his desire for a demanding, enjoyable position and his desire to spend more time with his wife and his two young children.

In this episode, Levinson discusses how being a leader doesn’t just involve leading a team but also managing yourself, emphasizing the importance of mental health along the way.

<itunes:summary>Earning the title of Chief Marketing Officer at any corporation is a major achievement, but to do it at Nike without prior marketing experience is incredible. Liz Dolan is no ordinary leader. Following her stint at Nike, she has worked as the CMO of the Oprah Winfrey Network, FOX Sports AND the National Geographic channel.

But on top of that, she’s also the co-creator of the Satellite Sisters. The wildly successful radio show-turned-podcast sought to give a female voice to a form of entertainment heavily saturated by male (usually conservative) personalities like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. 20 years, numerous awards and a book later, Satellite Sisters continues to bring Liz Dolan and her sisters together to give “pep talks for modern women,” as they have done since day 1.

In this episode, Dolan recalls her time at Nike, her relationship with her fellow Satellite Sisters and how gender bias forced her to resign from a board of directors.

<itunes:summary>TEDx’s mission is founded on the concept of “ideas worth spreading” and TEDxPortland curator and leader David Rae has taken that to heart. He developed TEDxPortland into one of the largest and most successful TEDx events globally by continually challenging the status quo and striving to get better. To help open the event to more great ideas, they created the “Ideas Booth,” a replica of a British telephone booth that allows anyone to share any idea in 90 seconds, in the hopes of becoming a speaker at their event.

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing. 2020 would have been their tenth anniversary, celebrated by hosting the largest (indoor) TEDx event ever held. But COVID-19 forced Rae to adapt once again to face the reality of life in a pandemic.

In this episode, we discuss how TEDxPortland has learned to thrive in the pandemic, and David shares the story behind TEDxPortland, what he’s learned along the way and a whole lot more.
