The First Cohort, Where are they Now?

Bryana Benson was among the first cohort of the MS Business Analytics program at the University of Georgia that began in fall 2018. We caught up with her to discuss her experiences in the program and 1 year in her analytics engineer role at Cox Communications. We also discuss the new normal of the work-life balance since the pandemic began in the U.S. back in March and what the daily work schedule looks like in recent times.

Plans for Fall Semester Instruction

ArchNews, an all-inclusive central email list for distributing official information from the University of Georgia administration to UGA students, faculty, and staff, recently sent an email to all students regarding the fall 2020 protocol pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic. This episode covers that email in detail and what fall will look like for the incoming MSBA students and all students returning to campus. Topics include social distancing on campus and within the classroom, the academic calendar, CDC and UGA protocols, and accommodations for students.

Tools for Career Success

Nate Kelley, MSBA alum ’20, joins the conversation again to explain to students how to use GitHub, the largest community of developers, and why you as a future analyst should have a profile on the site.

Emily Nicholos from the CMC lists 3 tools students can already begin to use this summer through UGA Career Services. Emily mentions Big Interview, where you can learn and practice your interview skills; LinkedIn Learning can be used to build or learn new skills; and Glassdoor is used to discover salaries, interview insights, and employer reviews in the company or field you’re interested in going in.

Within the 10 months that MSBA students are here, the Office of Student Engagement strives to give opportunities to students outside the core curriculum that line up with their interest and passion. One of them being social impact and the B Corp movement. This episode features three guests in how their passion and desire to work within the social impact sector led to their careers today.
