When Juliann Faucette isn't blocking and hitting on the volleyball court, she is in full-on mom mode to her three little ones at home. After a standout career at Texas, Juliann pursued a professional career overseas. She stepped away in 2018 to start a family and was pulled back in for a season in 2020. Then, she thought her playing career was wrapped up and she was committed to coaching and staying around the sport to help guide younger generations. She added twins to her family and her hands were full. But LOVB came calling....and Juliann answered. She helped LOVB Austin earn the first LOVB championship in 2025 and has her eyes set on another this weekend. Today we dive in to:

Amy Purdy simply doesn't quit. She has taken every obstacle life has thrown her way and turned it into an opportunity. At just 19 a sudden case of bacterial meningitis resulted in the loss of both legs below the knee, her kidney function, and spleen. After fighting for her life, she became a trailblazer in snowboarding, even making history as a 3-time Paralympic medalist. After, she continued to inspire millions by competing on "Dancing With the Stars," touring with Oprah, and authoring a New York Times best-selling memoir. Then, in 20198, life threw another obstacle her way causing her to rebuild. It's this rebuild that inspired her latest book "Bounce Forward." Today we dive in to:

Pro Snowboarder Brantley Mullins Talks Starting in the Sport, Dolly Parton & Embracing Fear

The professional snowboarder grew up riding in North Carolina but has since gone pro and moved out to Salt Lake City. She competes in street style snowboarding or urban snowboarding (think: sliding on rails, jumping off things, etc). She competes in different cities in Red Bull Heavy Metal competitions (she did say Boston was unlike anywhere else!) Today we dive in to:

Para Alpine Skier Kelsey O'Driscoll on First Paralympics, Overcoming Obstacles & Gratitude

Not many people get to live one dream in their 20s, but Kelsey O'Driscoll is living two: working as a nurse to help people and representing Team USA at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. After a spinal injury in 2021, Kelsey was determined to not let those dreams pass her by. She still works as a nurse (at the same hospital that inspired her to pursue the career) and became Gore Mountain's first adaptive ski patroller. Additionally, Kelsey now races as a four-track skier, a form of para alpine skiing where an athlete uses two skis and two hand-held outriggers (metal crutches with ski tips). It wasn't long before Kelsey's talent was recognized and just a few short years later she is competing in Milan with USA across her chest. She is blazing trails for young athletes facing any kind of obstacle, creating visibility in the hospital and on the mountain, and doing it all with a bright and optimistic attitude. Olympic Medalists Aerin Frankel & Alina Müller Talk Milan Victories, Women's Hockey Camaraderie & Caesar Salad

The Boston Fleet brought home a lot of hardware from the Olympic Games. Goaltender Aerin Frankel recorded a .980 save percentage and became the first Olympic women's hockey player to record three shut-outs on this stage. She helped Team USA to a perfect 7-0 record and GOLD medal! Meanwhile, her teammate Alina Müller scored the game-winning goal with just one minute left in overtime to secure the BRONZE medal for her home country of Switzerland. Jordan Larson is World Champion, League One Volleyball (LOVB) founding athlete, LOVB Nebraska co-owner, and 4-time Olympic medalist leading Team USA to their first gold medal in 2020 as both team captain and MVP. Jordan recently announced the 2026 LOVB Nebraska season will be her last as a competitive athlete. She first picked up a volleyball in a small town Nebraska and now she will be wrapping up an outstanding career in the same state surrounded by friends, family and countless fans. The Head of the Charles Regatta is one of Boston's most iconic weekends and when Tori Stevens stepped into the role of executive director last summer she was excited to continue the strong tradition. Tori has more than 2 decades worth of global leadership experience in sports, media and technology. Most recently, Tori was the CEO of SUP3R, known for creating music festivals like the Bonaroo Music & Arts Festival. Pro Marathoner Erika Kemp on 2025 Worlds Performance, Record-Breaking Performances & Mindset

Erika Kemp has been running since high school and slowly inched her way up to the marathon distance! She is a 2x U.S. champion (15k & 20k distances) and professional runner for Brooks. As a New England native, her first marathon was Boston (naturally!) in 2023 where she broke the record for fastest marathon run by an American-born Black woman. Just a few years later in Houston she shattered her own record by 11:01 minutes. She runs for Brooks' elite team and trains out of Providence, RI. Today we dive in to:

Boston Fleet's Top Draft Pick Haley Winn on Joining PWHL & Calling Boston Home

The Boston Fleet has some new faces joining the bench this season, including top draft pick Haley Winn. The Rochester native had an incredible career at Clarkson University, earning the ECAC Player of the Year honor and etching her name in the history books as the second highest-scoring defender in the nation. She comes to Boston with a strong hockey IQ and compete level. She followed her brothers into the sport years ago and has had her eyes set on competing at the highest level since then; and now she's here and she's soaking in every second. Today we dive in to:

Fail fast and fail often; failure is an essential part of growth and an important lesson Player Development Coach Kerri Kuzbyt teaches her athletes. Kerri played hoops for most of her life, even competing professionally, before switching to a coaching role in the past few years. She is now the head of player development for the Scottish Basketball Federation. Her modern coaching approach is unique and helps athletes find functional movement solutions effective for their body, build a resilient mindset, and strengthen court IQ. She wants her athletes to be curious, well-rounded, and confident and that can only come from making mistakes and growing from them. 'Early Edition' Host Trenni Casey on Training for 160-miles of the 'MS Run the US' Relay

You see Trenni Casey most nights talking sports on "Early Edition with Trenni" on NBC Sports Boston, But, for the last 6 months, she has been spending her mornings, and basically any time outside of the studio, training for her leg of "MS Run the US." The relay is America's first and only 3,260 mile ultra relay run to raise awareness and funds for MS research and aid those living with disabilities from the disease. Trenni's relay leg is just about 160 miles across her home state of Wisconsin. That's over a marathon a day! Today we dive in to:

'Harvard Engineer Redesigning the Sports Bra' Sara Falkson on Project, Body Confidence & More

Sara Falkson is a Harvard engineer redesigning the sports bra and helping women find body confidence in sport. Why redesign the sports bra? As an athlete herself (4 years of field hockey at Dartmouth) she has had her own relationship with confidence and sports bra woes and learned that so many other women did too! So, in her second year of Harvard University's Masters of Design Engineering program she set out to create something that was more comfortable and allowed athletes to have confidence in their gear to focus on their sport. Sara is also inspired by a stat from Dove and Nike that nearly 50% of teen girls drop out of sports due to lack of body confidence. Today we dive in to:

When Becs Gentry isn't coaching you up on the Peloton app, she's likely chasing her big personal goals or her toddler daughter. Becs isd known for her speed and her spunk, but this is something she has grown into as she's found herself in the sport. After earning her 6th World Majors star in Toyko her partner planted the idea seed of the Great World Marathon (7 marathons, 7 days, 7 continents) -- this past fall she completed it as a way to fill her own cup in the new chapter of motherhood. When she gave rugby a shot her senior year she was excited about how far she could run with it (figuratively and literally), so she went for it. Katie has played professionally for years, first as part of Premier Rugby Sevens and now the inaugural season of Women's Elite Rugby with the Boston Banshees. Today we dive in to:

Hot off smashing her own U.S. masters marathon record at the Valencia Marathon in December (2024), Sara Hall is feeling good and ready to race her fourth Boston Marathon. Sara has been running professionally for 20 years and continues to love the challenges and wins that come with it. She credits motherhood for helping her keep perspective and motivation; in 2015 she and her husband Ryan (also her coach!) adopted their 4 daughters from Ethiopia. Today we dive in to:

The Arctic Challenge 2025: Hannah Huppi Dishes on the Historic Adventure

Runner Jess McClain Dishes on Return to Racing, Olympic Trails & NYC Marathon

Jess McClain's return to running has made people pay attention! First, she placed 4th at the 2024 Olympic Marathon Trials in February. Then, in June, Jess returned to the track to place fourth in the 10,000 meters. Both finishes earned her the title of a double Olympic alternate, so she stayed fit and ready. A week before the Paris Olympic Marathon, Jess hopped on a plane to France to prepare to maybe run the 26.2 miles (spoiler: she didn't!) And most recently, Jess was named the US 10k Road Champ. She does all of this while coaching herself and working a full-time job. Today we dive in to:

CT Sun Semi-Finals vs. Minnesota Lynx | Game 3 Recap

The Minnesota Lynx won game 3 (90-8) in Connecticut to lead the series 2-0. Napheesa Collier and Courtney Williams had great games for the Lynx and are looking to finish it tomorrow. The Connecticut Sun struggled on both ends of the court last night to drop the first home game of the series. Alyssa Thomas summed it up by saying "we didn't come to compete" post game. On the other side, the Las Vegas Aces pulled out the W to avoid elimination against the New York Liberty. The Liberty still lead the series 2-1. The series is split 1-1 now! The Minnesota Lynx earned the win on their home court for game 2 of the semi-finals last night (77-70). Both teams will travel to CT for games 3 and 4 (Friday and Sunday, respectively). On the other side, the New York Liberty eeked out a second win to go up 2-0 against the Las Vegas Aces. No team has ever come back from being down 2 games in the semis, but at the same time, no team has beat a team 6 times in one season. Needless to say, things are heating up in the WNBA! Basketball analyst and CT Sun sideline reporter Terrika Foster-Brasby joins host Hannah Donnelly to break down all the action.

Coach's Corner: Olympic & Paralympic Basketball Coaches Jen Rizzotti & Christina Schwab

The Olympic and Paralympic Games not only bring together the best athletes in the world, but the best coaches, too. Jen Rizzotti and Christina Schwab both had incredible careers on the basketball court and are now taking their talents to the sidelines as head coaches for women's hoops, 3x3 and wheelchair basketball, respectively. Jen was a standout guard at UCONN where she helped the team secure their first championship title in 1995, went on to play 8 seasons professionally winning 2 championships, coached at the collegiate and national level, and now serves as the President of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun. Christina also has an impressive resume; she's a 5x Paralympian and 3x gold medalist. Both women are stepping into the role of head coach for the first time on this stage and are honored to do so. The energy of race day combined with the community and excitement continue to bring Ashley to starting lines across the globe. When she's not training, you might find her training with iFit, coaching through her app, or, most apparently, spending time with her husband and 4 kiddos. Today we dive in to:

LSU National Champion Gymnast Haleigh Bryant on Historic Season & More!

The LSU Tigers just won their first ever NCAA Gymnastics National Championship, in large part to the leadership and talent of senior Haleigh Bryant. Competing for LSU has been a dream of Haleigh's since she was a kid and now she's living in, with two national titles to her name (an individual win in vault her freshman year & team win her senior year!) Even with the accolades and attention, the joy and intention of the sport is where she's puts her focus and keeps her coming back! Today we dive in to:

Volleyball Star Asjia O'Neal on New League, Overcoming Health Hurdles & Historic Career at Texas

Volleyball is having a moment right now and we're here for it! And one of the stars is 24-year-old Asjia O'Neal. Asjia spent 6 years at the University of Texas where she earned two national championships and set the school record for blocks. Her road wasn't easy. In January of 2020 she underwent her second open-heart surgery (her first was at age 13). She came back to play the next semester and never looked back. She was the number 1 overall draft pick for the Pro Volleyball Federation and currently plays for the Columbus Fury. Today we dive in to:

Michaela Onyenwere (Mercury): New Team, Nigerian Culture & Finding Identity Outside of Sport

After two seasons with the New York Liberty and a 2022 clouded by injury and rehab, Michaela Onyenwere is excited to start a new chapter with the Phoenix Mercury. In today's episode the 2021 WNBA Rookie of the Year talks about her offseason and the positive impact her time in Spain has had on her game, mentally and physically. We dive into when her dream of playing in the WNBA blossomed and what it feels like to call greats she grew up watching, like Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, teammates now. She also introduces us to Michaela the human, the woman off the court, and shares how she was able to become so confident in her identity. And, of course, she talks about League growth; we throw logistics out of the window and dream up endless possibility.

DeWanna Bonner (Sun): New Sun Era, Motherhood & Veteran Wisdom

The two-time WNBA Champion is chasing a third title with the Connecticut Sun. With new coaching, new systems, and new players she talks about what it will take for this squad to bring it home. She also talks about motherhood, specifically about her comeback and how the role has kept her grounded and focused in the sport. There’s no doubt that those girls are the light of her life. As a seasoned vet we talk about how the game has evolved over the years and what it’s like to welcome new fans each year. Finally, she discusses recovery and the more focused approach she has with her diet, rehab, and workouts now that she is getting older (she’s sharing her wisdom with her rookies so they can start early, too!) DeWanna has accomplished a lot and is focused on making this season one of her best yet.

We know her for playing BIG on the court and always bringing the energy to eery space she enters. Yup, Courtney Williams is on the podcast today! This season the small town girl is moving to the big city. Courtney signed with the Chicago Sky in free agency, a time that was pretty stressful for her. We talk about being a free agent and what’s she looking forward to in Chicago. We also talk about where her love of the game was born, how it drove her to keep playing, opportunities it has given her, and more. She talks about how the WNBA wasn’t really in her sightline as a realistic goal so she reveals her back-up plan, and it’s surprising but totally makes sense when she explains! Finally, we talk about game day, what routines pre and post-game look like.

2022 Finals Champion and MVP Chelsea Gray is on the podcast today! The star admits that basketball is her life: she eats, sleeps, breathes, watches basketball which has helped her chase her dreams in the sport. Chelsea battled injury after injury in college but kept her eyes set on the goal and has proven everyone right through the years. She put up unbelievable numbers in the 2022 Finals earning her MVP title and the recognition she deserves. She reveals her favorite activities when she is not on the court and explains how they support her success on the court. We also talk about her partnership with Adidas and the sneaker she designed last year; a dream she had from a young age. Finally, she explains what we can expect to see the Las Vegas Aces this year, one of the ‘Super Teams.’

Shey Peddy (Mercury): Comeback Season, Staying Patient & Being a Role Model

Don't call 2023 a comeback for Shey Peddy! Or, maybe, do call it a comeback because she is READY to hit the ground running with the Phoenix Mercury. No stranger to the bounceback or fighting through adversity, Shey is grateful for the opportunity to play at the highest level. She was drafted in 2012 but it wasn't until 2019 that she made her WNBA debut. In today's episode we talk about the highs and lows that came in the years in between. She gives advice to rookies as they prepare to step onto the court for training camp. And Shey shares her excitement for having BG back in teh gym. Finally, she talks about why it's important for her to be a role model to the next generation, especially as a girl from Roxbury, MA where the women hoopers don't often get the hype they deserve.

Rhyne Howard (Dream): Rookie Season Reflections, Community & Cartoons

She was the 2022 WNBA Rookie of the Year and now she's ready to take on her sophomore season! Rhyne Howard had a successful career at Kentucky and immediately made an impact for the Atlanta Dream after being drafted first overall in 2022. Today we talk about her rookie season and she offers advice for players entering the league this year. She reflects on how her family impacted both her love for the game and growth in the game. Rhyne remembers some life lessons from her high school Coach (turns out he is full of one-liners!) And while she keeps it serious and focused on the court, she unwinds with simple things (hint: he's yellow, lives underwater, and loooves a Krusty Krab burger). She has high hopes for this season, both personally and collectively; this just might be the season it "clicks" for the Dream!

Veronica Burton (Wings): Family, Faith & Advice for Young Athletes

Veronica Burton grew up in a very sporty family which she credits for her love of sport and her competitiveness (I’d love to be a fly on the wall for Burton Family Game Night!) Her family is also instrumental in her Faith journey; Veronica talks about how that has been essential for her and is something she proudly speaks about now and invites teammates to join her in. We talk about her rookie season in the league, specifically the transition from college to the pros and her role as a defender. And while she played big on D, we had to talk about a WNBA record she tied; she’s very humble about this! Like many, Veronica chose to play in Athletes Unlimited this offseason where she was able to compete for the non-profit the Ron Burton Training Village. A place where young men, and now women, come during the summer months to train. It was founded by her late grandfather and is a special place for Veronica and her family to this day. We wrap up by talking about Burton Family Game Night -- who is most competitive, who is most likely to win (and lose!)

While it was tough to watch from the sideline, she used the time to recover mentally and work hard to come back this year stronger than before; she's calling 2023 her redemption season! In today’s episode we talk about what the offseason looked like, what she's looking forward to with her new squad, the Washington Mystics. We talk about her childhood in Sweden and how that has impacted her professional goals. She shares the best piece of advice she got her rookie season and how she lives it every day now. And finally, she dishes on a collaboration that could be instrumental in growing women’s basketball in the States and across the globe.

Napheesa Collier (Lynx): Motherhood, The Comeback & New Lynx Era

She’s back, baby! After giving birth to baby girl Mila last May, Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier is coming back for her first full season. She did make an appearance in a few games at the end of the 2022 season to celebrate teammate and WNBA legend Sylvia Fowles but she really focused on her rehab when the season ended. In today’s episode she talks about the challenges of the comeback and how being a mom has changed her approach to training every day (for the better it seems!) Phee also shares what it’s been like to step into a leadership role in this new Lynx era. Finally she talks about how the game has changed in the five years she’s been playing professionally and her hopes for the future generations playing the sport.

Lexie Brown is ready to plant her feet in LA and get to work. She's headed into her 6th WNBA season, and second with the Sparks. Last year she was called on for '3 and D' and she delivered. But this offseason she has really focused on getting in reps to make a broader and bigger impact on the court. In today's episode we talk about reuniting with Kurt Miller and the CT coaching staff, the pros and cons of different offseason playing opportunities (i.e. overseas vs. Athletes Unlimited). And we talk about her relationship with her dad, former NBA star Dee Brown; it's a special one! We also talk about adding a little spice to the League to help grow viewership.

Theresa Plaisance (Storm): Hardwork, Humility & Humor

Coming off a championship season with the Las Vegas Aces, Theresa Plaisance is ready to start fresh with the Seattle Storm. She has an undeniable technical skill, but it’s often the work ethic, humility, and sportsmanship that people comment on first. Today we talk about where that work ethic comes from and why sportsmanship has been so important to her from an early age. We talk about her family — her mom was a college basketball coach and grandfather came to every college game -- and how they’ve supported her. We also talk about some of her other interests in childhood really demonstrating a variety of skills (this is the season of the bell choir comeback!) She reflects on her rookie season training camp after getting drafted 3rd round and how she has kept the same mentality to stay in the league for 10 years. We also talk about how important league growth is, what that could look like, and why it’s important for players to keep using their platforms/voices to make change off the court. Finally, she shares the one thing you must know about her off the court; think tall torso and clean lines!
