Just Go With It - Why Is It Hard For Creatives To Just Make Art And Do What They Do?

On this episode Mike & Paul "Just Go With It". Mike overanalyzed (like he often does) and thought about how he often over-thinks the work and just fails at making art. This laid back episode is really about having a conversation with very little planning to see where it goes and what happens.

Even in the spirit of this episode, Mike held back, did some things creatively he would not and has not done before, he just went with it. Made a video, and created a condensed episode to post on his YouTube channel too. He even decided to relax on the edit and just cut through the audio files to see how it turns out (I guess we will see how this goes).

Sipping on a few tasty ales called Hop Slam from Bell's Brewery, Mike & Paul discuss a few things that come to mind while thinking about the topic, "Just Go With It". If you tend to over-think, procrastinate, and overanalyze things and don't just work at your art, this may be the episode for you.

Continuous Improvement For Artists And Creatives

Mike & Paul discuss continuous improvement or as some would say, the pursuit of mastery while enjoying a glass of Knob Creek whiskey. As creatives we all know that simply learning the basics and doing is not enough - we must become life-long students of our craft and evolve as we gain experience.

Episode 56 is intended to be a reminder to artists and creatives from all walks of life that we can improve, and by taking small steps each day, we can master our craft. In our busy lives, practice and taking time to hone our skills may not always be in the front of our minds, but with a little planning and good methods, we will find time to gradually improve our skills each and every day.

Nobody wants to remain a beginner, or just rely on the skills they learned when they started their journey. If you really want to be great at something, and become the artist you have the potential to become, you can do it by applying the methodology of continuous improvement. Art school, music school, classes, workshops, and more might give you the tools and techniques to build upon, but to truly master your craft, you must learn how to improve on your own. This episode is for you.

I'm in a funk and it might be because of the Coronavirus, but not because I'm sick, I'm just concerned. Paul and I try to stay positive as we talk about the arts. Paul hates the IPA I picked up for the show, and it is a much needed discussion for me.

I know this one has a weird title. In some regards this is an episode that doesn't really get a title. Was I unprepared? Maybe I was, but maybe it is due to the changes in the world and things just are not normal right now. Paul and I tried to keep up with the theme of the show and we tried to remain upbeat and positive.

This show is really for anyone who just needs to sit back and have a drink with some creative friends and talk shop. Talk about the current situation but also realize that the world is not like it was just a few months ago. I hope you enjoy the episode, stay safe, be well, take care.
