In addition to pharmaceuticals and conventional treatments, both hypnosis and meditation are worthwhile methods for treating pain, anxiety, depression, and possibly more. These two different forms of focused attention seem to activate soothing / healing mechanisms in the body, and people seem to be more inclined to one practice or the other based on their physiology.
