It has been confirmed that the one year old Kukkiwon branch system put in place by former Kukkiwon President, Dong Sup Lee, has been dissolved.

Summer Games 2027 will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina. This landmark decision, made by

the CISM Board of Directors on Saturday, March 29th, marks the highly anticipated return of the

Military World Summer Games after an eight-year hiatus since Wuhan, China hosted the Games in

2019. It also represents an historic moment, as this will be the first time the United States will be the

May 4, 2025 (NYC, NY)– To honor its 2nd Anniversary the Global Traditional Taekwondo Federation will be holding a historic international Taekwondo Kick-a-thon on Friday May 16, 2025.  GTTF members throughout the world will participate in a marathon to register as many kicks as possible during an allotted sixteen (16) minute period.

The purpose of the Kick-a-thon is not only to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of the founding of the GTTf, but also “to contribute to the restoration and preservation of traditional Taekwondo for World Peace”.

The Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 delegation was led by the Governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, the Mayor of Salt Lake City, Erin Mendenhall, the President of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), Gene Sykes, and the President of the Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games, Fraser Bullock.

IOC President Thomas Bach said: “Salt Lake City and Utah are long-time friends of the Olympic Movement, and we are confident that they will organise exceptional Olympic and Paralympic Games, just as they did years ago. The legacy of 2002 is tangibly and passionately alive in Utah. The legacy of 2034 starts today.”

Governor Cox said: “The Olympics and Paralympics represent so much more than competition. At its core, the Olympic Movement is about building community and celebrating excellence, things we do really well in Utah. More than 80 per cent of Utahns and 100 per cent of our elected leaders supported our Olympic bid. We're ready to host another Olympic Winter Games, and we can't wait to welcome the world back to Utah in 2034.”

There was a final report by Karl Stoss, IOC Member and Chair of the Future Host Commission for the Olympic Winter Games, the IOC body responsible for monitoring and analysing interest in hosting the Olympic Winter Games and Winter Youth Olympic Games.

“Olympic Winter Games in Utah represent a fantastic opportunity,” he said. “This very strong project benefits from an exceptionally high level of public and political support. The athletes will benefit from great facilities and opportunities this project has to offer.”

Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 has the ambition to extend the transformative benefits of Salt Lake City 2002 to a new generation and make the resources and experience of Utah available for the benefit of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement.

It is fully aligned with Olympic Agenda 2020 and 2020+5, as well as regional socio-economic development plans, especially around creating long-term benefits for the region and potentially the country, for example by expanding existing sports and social programmes for young people and athletes.

The Games will be hosted in world class, 100 per cent existing or temporary venues, and will assist efforts to drive sustainable change in Utah.

“During our visit, the Commission was able to see first-hand these excellent venues and to witness the immense experience and expertise that exists,” explained Mr Stoss. “Enthusiasm for the Games was palpable in every interaction we had, both at the venues and in meetings with athletes, sports leaders, politicians and the private sector.”

Erin Mendenhall, the Mayor of Salt Lake City, said: “Salt Lake City and the Olympic and Paralympic Movement are deeply connected through values - our commitment to diversity, love for our youth and the tireless work to preserve our environment. These principles are shared through the lens of sport. I can’t imagine a better partnership than the one we continue to forge with our Olympic partners.”

“This a great day for winter sport in the United States and around the world,” said USOPC President Gene Sykes. “The Games vision brought forth by the Salt Lake City-Utah team – inclusive of state and city leaders, the remarkable bid team and the community that showed support for this effort throughout – has been collaborative and forward-looking from the very start. We are thankful to the IOC and to Karl Stoss who led the Future Host Commission, and we look forward to the process of organising what we know will be terrific Games in 2034.”

Fraser Bullock, President and CEO of the Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games, said: “Today's decision by the International Olympic Committee is as much about the Olympic and Paralympic Movement as it is about Salt Lake City-Utah. We are proud to show the world how our living legacy brings value to our communities, enriches the lives of youth, and helps contribute to the world of sport.”

Before the vote, IOC Members were able to put questions to Mr Stoss and to the Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 leadership.

Serious concerns were expressed about recent developments in the United States around the challenge to the supreme authority of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which could have negative implications for international sports events held in the USA.

In their presentations, Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 and the USOPC confirmed that they are fully committed to compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code, and that their dedication to clean sport and to the coordinated international anti-doping effort led by WADA is absolute.

IOC Member John Coates, Chair of the IOC’s Legal Affairs Commission, confirmed that the Olympic Host Contract will be strengthened in relation to WADA and the World Anti-Doping Code. The IOC has reinforced the current language in order to protect the integrity of the international anti-doping system and to allow the IOC to terminate the Olympic Host Contract in cases where “the supreme authority of the World Anti-Doping Agency in the fight against doping is not fully respected or if the application of the World Anti-Doping Code is hindered or undermined”.

This measure has been fully supported by the State of Utah and the USOPC.

There were 83 ‘yes’ votes for Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 by IOC Members, 6 ‘no’ votes and 6 abstentions, out of 89 valid votes.

The A Family, owners of Yong-In Taekwondo in Katy, Texas intervened to foil a rape in progress this week.   They risked their lives and health to rescue a young woman in peril.   The perpetrator bit and fought, but the family restrained him until the Sheriff's Office arrived.

"Master Jimmy Kim passed peacefully last night at 8:40 pm at UCSD Medical Center.

Since May of 2022, Master Kim had been battling an uncommon and aggressive autoimmune disorder called Dermatomyositis that primarily attacked his lungs. He was hospitalized on Memorial Day due to breathing difficulty and low blood oxygen level and he was transferred to ICU last week until he passed.

On April 27, 2023 USA Taekwondo announced the suspension of Team Coach Gareth Brown based upon allegations made against him, and a Safesport investigation being conducted.   Last week, after a full, independent investigation the allegations were considered unfounded and the suspension was lifted clearing the path to Coach Brown to head to Baku for the World Championships.

The 2023 Team USA National Team Trials took place right here in Tulsa Feb. 10 through 12 at the Cox Convention Business Center.

This year's team trial event was only for senior, junior, cadet, and ultra world-class sparring and poomsae athletes.

In response to the IOC's decision there have been strong and unequivocal responses from President Zelinsky  of Ukraine, the Foreign Minister, and former Boxing Olympian, Wladimir Klitschko.

This decision was met with condemnation by Nancy Armour, of USA Today.  Ms. Armour's Editorial attacks the decision as acquiescent to Russian and its President.   Her attack was not only on the decision, but pointed directly at IOC President Thomas Bach.

Born in Queens, New York Carlos first began training at the age of four years old under the influence of his family. Now he is set to take center stage as the franchise fighter for this revamped Professional Kickboxing League.

PKA Worldwide is often regarded as one of the founding fathers of modern day MMA having introduced professional kickboxing with an "Americanized" style to the public in 1974. They've put on many events with large audiences broadcasted on major televised platforms such as ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN and SHOWTIME. "I'm a flashy kicker trying to bring something new to the stage. That's the thing about PKA, we're looking for the best stand up strikers in the world. It's a little different than what we see now and days. UFC MMA is big and all that but personally for me the way to figure out who the best martial artist is you have to look at the skill, the technique and the striking. That's he cool thing about PKA... only striking, only stand up, you have to throw eight kicks above the belt each round and if you don't you get penalized. So now we get to test out those things; the spins, turning kicks... all that old school thing that was kind of lost." Carlos expressed.

The Taekwondo Hall of Fame is the brainchild of Grandmaster Gerald Robbins.  Grandmaster Robbins was a guest of Taekwondo Life Magazine back in March 2019.  He explained how he conceived of a way to preserve and honor modern Taekwondo History in 1998 and how by 2006 the The Taekwondo Hall of Fame became a reality.

After a two year hiatus in inductions due to the Global Pandemic The Taekwondo Hall of Fame is back in 2022 to continue its mission of honoring the legends of the art and sport.

In this episode, Marc Zirogiannis, LIVE during the match, breaks down the victory and calls the "play by play". On Taekwondo Life Magazine's card Master Loureda clearly won all three rounds for a unanimous decision; however, one judge awarded the decision to Loureda's opponent.

The fight was distinct in Mixed Martial Arts, as there was not one instance where the fighters ended up on the ground, or engaged in any ground game, whatsoever. The victory was marked by Loureda's domination of the stand up game, mostly with a series of hand combinations and some footwork. At the closing seconds of Round 1, Loureda unloaded a signature spinning back kick, causing some damage to her 5ft 10 inch opponent. In the closing seconds of the fight itself Master Loureda devastated Turner with a shocking blow to the face the drew blood; given more time this may have ended in a TKO.

This marks Lourdes's 4th Professional win, in which three (3) were won by KO.

In 2017 Nassau County, NY passed a law saying that in high school football any team winning by more than 42 points is subject to sanctions, and that this team will be deemed per se "unsportsmanlike", not from their behavior, but from the point gap alone. Further exploration of this law makes it clear; the winning team, and coach, regardless of how they conducted themselves, or their play, will be sanctioned if they exceed the 42 point gap in order to save the losing team from embarrassment. Perhaps the goal is noble, but is the solution just?

While most people may not consider him a martial arts movie icon because, even by his own words he only knows, “movie kung fu“, there is a compelling argument to support the moniker, “#1 martial arts movie star in the world.”

While Reeves does not have a traditional martial arts background he began training in the martial arts for the first Matrix (1999) film, undergoing four months of daily intensive training prior to the start of shooting that blockbuster film. His work with Yuen Woo-Ping, Hong Kong’s acclaimed martial arts action choreographer, resulted in stunning fights and weapons scenes. Had it stopped there Reeves would still be responsible for one of the best martial arts and sci-fi films ever made; however, there was so much more to come.

Reeves went on to train intensely and release two more Matrix films, which were filled with martial arts action fight scenes. Neo’s fight scenes with Morpheus, Agent Smith, and The Agent Smiths are as good as any ever filmed. Reeves also paired with Woo-Ping to star in, and Direct, Man of Tai Chi (2013), a true martial arts combat film. The climax of that film involves Reeves and Tiger Chensquaring off in a classic, “old school’ fight scene.

2014 brought John Wick, a film by Chad Stahelski, in which Reeves again underwent 3-4 months of intensive training in martial arts and weapons to result in a stunning and pivotal film which transformed the genre and spawned two beloved sequels (with a 3rd in pre-production). The Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and weapons realism in those films set new standards in movie making, and martial arts fight choreography.

With Ten (10) martial arts action films, $6 billion dollars in box office gross, and serious martial arts training in Taekwondo, Kung Fu, BJJ, Judo there is no question that Keanu Reeves is not only a martial arts movie star, but perhaps, the biggest that ever graced the Silver Screen.

Anastasija Zolotic is a rising star in the competitive Taekwondo landscape. She is one of the exciting young stars of the USA Taekwondo program. While her future is bright, and her career is just beginning, she has already amassed an impressive record. At just 17 years old she has already had a Gold medal winning performance at the Pan Am games. Her medal winning performance at her very first Senior Grand Prix made her the youngest Taekwondo athlete in the world to win a medal at a Grand Prix. Ana talks with Marc Zirogiannis about her love of Taekwondo and about USA Taekwondo's "National Center of Excellence" in Colorado Springs, where she will be training full time with Coach Gareth Brown.
