Have you considered how many things we give our time, attention, focus, and energy to...things that are meaningless and fleeting? And yet we jump through hoops trying to serve and indulge them and all the while God is waiting for us to turn to Him and choose His unconditional, unfailing, life-giving, perfect love. It's almost ridiculous when we think about it, yet we do it daily. Elijah said it best in 1 Kings when he confronted the people of Israel in their rebellion, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is god, follow him." (1 Kings 18:21) God calls us to choose whom we will follow; I pray we choose wisely. I pray we follow hard after the One who created us and calls us to love Him with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. Undivided hearts lead to undivided marriages, families, churches, communities, and so on....everything starts with a decision to have an undivided, unwavering heart for the One true God.
