Keeping Company with Jesus| Practicing presence over performance with Author and Speaker, Christine Hoy

This episode features a meaningful conversation with my friend and author, Christine Hoy. Her newest book, Keeping Company with Jesus, is available on May 26th, and we discuss what it means to truly abide in Jesus and to know that God wants our presence over performance. In our social media-driven world, it's easy to compare and slip into perfectionism rather than resting in our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Christine's new book helps us take a deep exhale and let go of striving. Connect with Shelli:

Part 3 of 3 | Restored Lives Lead To Living Water: The Invitation To "Come and See"

This episode is Part 3 of a three-part series discussing the arc of restoration.

When Jesus restores a life, the story doesn't end with healing... it leads to an invitation.

In John 4, we meet the woman at the well, a woman marked by shame and isolation. Yet after one encounter with Jesus, everything changes. The very woman who came to the well alone becomes the one who runs back to her town saying, "Come and see."

Her story reminds us that restoration is never just about us.

Restored people excitedly invite others to meet the One who restored them.

The arc of restoration goes from broken to restored to sent.

Part 2 of 3 | Persevering Through the Messy Middle: David and Peter: The Space Between Failure and Healing

This episode is Part 2 of a three-part series on the arc of restoration.

Restoration rarely happens instantly. Most of the time, it unfolds in what feels like the messy middle...the space between failure and healing.

In this episode, we look at the stories of David and Peter, two men who deeply loved God yet experienced devastating failure. Through David's repentance in Psalm 51 and Peter's restoration in John 21, we see that repentance is never the end, but the beginning of the process.

The journey of restoration requires humility in order for God to rebuild what's been broken.

But the good news is this: God does not abandon us in the messy middle of our story. He meets us there and patiently leads us toward restoration. Connect with Shelli:

<itunes:summary>This episode is Part 1 in a three-part series on the Arc of Restoration.

In Scripture, isolation often followed those who were unclean. The woman with the blood disorder and the man with leprosy both lived in the margins...cut off from community, worship, and human touch.

Yet both reached for Jesus so that they could be healed.

In this episode, we see how Jesus restores our brokenness so that isolation and shame can be broken, and we can be made whole. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Peter gives us such a beautiful picture of being well-balanced in every area of our lives: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Sobriety is so much more than what it sounds like. It's not just about alcohol--it's about being present and having a clear mind in order to walk in a way worthy of the calling God has placed on our lives.

In this episode of the Restoration Road Podcast, we are delving into the life of Peter as depicted in the Book of John, highlighting his journey from impulsive disciple to the sober-minded apostle portrayed in his epistles.

We are talking about character refinement, the importance of sober-mindedness, and the perils of distraction and addiction. Peter's wisdom emphasizes the need for daily renewal of the mind through time with the Lord to remain well-balanced and resilient in faith. This episode underscores the necessity of letting go of idols and distractions to fully surrender to Jesus, echoing Peter's message to be vigilant against the schemes of the enemy.

<itunes:summary>Oh my goodness, this conversation is going to bless your sou! We don't escape life without having to go through grief. We all must face its grueling process. But something heightens its ebbs and deepens its flows when it's your soul mate; or the love of your life. But, Jesus meets us in the valley of the shadow of death. Be encouraged as you heart this tender story of love, loss, resilience, and joy! Jesus was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, who better to carry us through our journey of despair? He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit. This testimony is evidence of God's goodness and tenderness toward a widow's heart. </itunes:summary>

Your Idols Don't Love You

Have you ever thought about the fact that your idols don't love you? Have you considered how many things we give our time, attention, focus, and energy to...things that are meaningless and fleeting? And yet we jump through hoops trying to serve and indulge them and all the while God is waiting for us to turn to Him and choose His unconditional, unfailing, life-giving, perfect love. It's almost ridiculous when we think about it, yet we do it daily. Elijah said it best in 1 Kings when he confronted the people of Israel in their rebellion, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is god, follow him." (1 Kings 18:21) God calls us to choose whom we will follow; I pray we choose wisely. I pray we follow hard after the One who created us and calls us to love Him with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. Undivided hearts lead to undivided marriages, families, churches, communities, and so on....everything starts with a decision to have an undivided, unwavering heart for the One true God. <itunes:summary>This episode is such a gift of brutal honesty! Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a mom (or dad), who's in recovery? Or perhaps you know someone struggling with addiction, but they are worried about what other people might think about them if they go to AA or treatment. Maybe you've heard about recovery but are nervous to ask for help. This conversation with my dear friend Kat will help you answer some of those questions! Kat shares her experience with being prescribed prescription pain medication and becoming addicted to narcotics. Her transparency and vulnerability will not only give you the courage to ask for help but will also help you realize that what other people think about you is none of your business! Listen to her powerful testimony of not only overcoming her addiction but also how she also overcame the fear of being judged by others. </itunes:summary>

Letting go of unforgiveness can be hard. But when we struggle to forgive, anger can be destructive and toxic to our soul. Some compare holding onto resentment like drinking poison, and expecting the other person to die. But Jesus teaches us a better way to handle our anger. Here are some practicle and Biblical approaches on how to deal with those whom have hurt us. We must choose to let go, and let God heal our hearts and set us free. Connect with Shelli:
