Well, we put one of these apps to the test called Nutricapture, as well as used Claude and other LLMs to see what AI is capable of.

How to register banned usernames on TikTok & Instagram

While creating accounts for a company unrelated to Nyedis, we recently encountered an issue on both Instagram & TikTok where it wouldn't allow us to register certain usernames. These usernames did not appear to be in use, so we were troubleshooting what the issue was. After some diligent experimentation, we learned that there is a way around this using a VPN. Here's what we found.

MASSIVE Worldwide outage cause by CrowdStrike

This morning we learned of the most MASSIVE system crash to occur this year It's causing flights being grounded at levels never before seen, among other major issues impacting all of the U.S. in particular.

A recent faulty update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike has caused widespread disruptions to Windows systems globally, affecting businesses in various sectors, including airlines, financial institutions, and retail chains. The update led to Windows workstations crashing and experiencing Blue Screens of Death (BSOD). While Mac and Linux systems remain unaffected, CrowdStrike has identified and deployed a fix, urging affected users to manually delete a specific driver file in Safe Mode. This incident underscores the critical need for IT infrastructure diversity and robust fail-safe mechanisms to mitigate the impact of such unforeseen technical issues on business operations.

Below is how you can patch this problem as described in the video:

First try to restart the server. If that doesn't fix it, restart again up to 15 times (seriously). If that doesn't clear it up, you can remove the corrupted file in safe mode:

· Boot Windows in Safe Mode or Windows Recovery Environment (if you have BitLocker, you'll need a recovery key, so have it ready)

· Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory

· Find the file named "C-00000291*.sys" and delete it

· Restart the computer or server normally

Attack on U.S. backed MITRE linked to China

We discovered this past week that a Chinese-linked hacker group breached the not-for-profit organization MITRE. MITRE was working with the U.S. government in the field of operating research & development centers. Through a zero-day attack, approximately 100,000 users were compromised including members of the government’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (abbreviated as CISA.) TSA luggage locks for air travel are garbage

If you're someone who travels a lot, you may familiar with the rule that in order to fly with a lock on your bag, it needs to be a specific TSA luggage lock. If it's not one of these approved locks, it gets clipped and thrown away. The problem is, this means the TSA has access to all of the stuff you're protecting! Not only that, all of these locks are opened by one of two universal keys that anyone can buy online for as cheap as about $5. So what is even the point when anyone with these can access what's in your bag? These are useless. Adam gives some practical tips on how to better ensure that bad actors aren't stealing from your bags when traveling.

SEC social media account hacked

Last week, you may have heard the uproar over the U.S. Security Exchange Commission getting their X account hacked and releasing a statement about the Bitcoin ETF approval prior to it being finalized. There was much speculation as to if this was a scheduled tweet released too early by accident, or if this was something more nefarious. Here in the identity management space we were probably even more blown away by the SEC not having 2-factor authentication enabled on their account, something that they've endorsed for people to do. They should know better.
