Einstein theorized that objects experiencing a greater gravitational pull will be subjected to time dilation, meaning the more gravity, the slower time passes. Well – he was right, and to counter that effect on The Lunar Orbit we had to move the whole dang show up 2 hours!

Since we’re premiering a new time slot and might have some new listeners I’ve prepared a Post-Rock Primer, an Intro 101 course, with some of the biggest bands, post rockiest sounds, and longest crescendos I can find!

P.S. Even though we're changing times, the podcast shouldn't experience any hiccups! Only difference is now the show will be coming out every two weeks. Apologies for less episodes, but I think this will give me a chance to put a lot more effort into each one and bring you a better show than before!

Happy New Year! It's finally cold outside, a winter storm is brewing - what better time than to listen to this winter wonderland of an episode! Originally aired back in December of 2023, I had to put it back at the top of your feed!

A giant mythical Anubis dances to the sound of distorted horns, a band of skeletal astronauts’ jam with instruments made out of satellite scraps, cosmic horrors emerge from the depth of black holes, just to see how rad this party is! Last week I was browsing online and found a fantastic playlist of Russian shoegaze/math rock (credit to meritolly on YouTube) and got totally obsessed, so a lot of this playlist will be in Cyrillic! Alright, this one will take some explaining. As you'll hear at the top of this ep, the archival tool I use to pull episodes off the radio went down, meaning The Lunar Orbit 2023 Christmas Extravaganza has been lost to time....But, I didn't want to leave you with nothing during the holidays, so I've pulled the only previous Christmas episode I have saved, way back from when I first started the show on the radio - this is the 2020 Lunar Orbit Christmas Special.

It's a little rougher than my newer shows, but I still love it all the same - lots of Christmas spirt, and holiday energy. The ep is full of ambient music, coupled with some post-ish or out there covers of Christmas classic. I also have included a special broadcast from some of earths favorite astronauts wishing everyone on earth a Merry Christmas.

I can't tell you how sad I am to have lost the 2023 episode - but I hope this makes up for it! Hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and I will be back after the New Year with more new episodes!

A winter themed show this week! Lots of chill, cozy, atmospheric vibes perfect for a hazy winter walk or some contemplation by the fire. A lot of music in this genre can evoke a calm, slower atmosphere which, to me at least, feels perfectly suited to winter, but I made sure to get some music with that holiday chime as well. Out of the office this week, so bringing a re-run of our Best of 2022 show! A (very incomplete) list of some of the best post-rock that was released last year!

I have tried to make this a list of both some of the biggest releases of last year like Russian Circles “Gnosis", and El Ten Eleven’s “New Year’s Eve”, and some of my favorites like Deer Park Ranger, hubris., and Guilt & The Bear. This is an extremely incomplete list, but the most I could squeeze into two hours! 2022 was a VERY good year for post-rock releases, and it doesn’t even touch on all the fantastic ambient or math-rock music we got last year.
